Jocky Wilson Near First 9 Dart Finish 1983 World Darts Championship
Before John Lowe hit the first ever 9 dart finish on TV their was only one man who looked like achieving this historical moment in Darts and that was one John Thomas Wilson. After going close the year before (1982 World Champs) missing the treble 19 and again treble 15 in his Quarter Final against Cliff Lazarenko, Wilson at the peak of his powers goes all out to make history.

Wilson's early life was marked by hardship. Raised in a working-class family, he left school at the age of 15 and worked various jobs, including as a coal miner and a fish processor. His introduction to darts came in local pubs, where he quickly developed a passion for the game. His natural talent and competitive spirit soon propelled him into the world of professional darts.
Wilson's professional career took off in the late 1970s. He joined the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and quickly made a name for himself with his unique, fast-paced playing style. In 1979, he won his first major title, the British Open. His breakthrough year came in 1982 when he won the prestigious World Professional Darts Championship, defeating John Lowe in a thrilling final. This victory cemented his status as one of the sport's top players.
Throughout the 1980s, Wilson remained a dominant force in darts. He won the World Championship again in 1989, this time defeating his fellow Scotsman, Eric Bristow. Wilson's rivalry with Bristow was one of the highlights of his career, providing fans with many memorable matches. In addition to his world titles, Wilson won numerous other tournaments, including the British Matchplay and the British Gold Cup.
Despite his success on the oche, Wilson's personal life was often tumultuous. He struggled with health issues and alcoholism, which eventually took a toll on his career. In 1995, he retired from professional darts and withdrew from public life.
Jocky Wilson passed away on March 24, 2012, just two days after his 62nd birthday. His legacy in the world of darts remains significant, with fans and fellow players remembering him as a true character of the sport, whose contributions helped elevate darts to new heights of popularity.

Fair use was not a novel proposition in 1976, however, as federal courts had been using a common law form of the doctrine since the 1840s (an English version of fair use appeared much earlier). The Act codified this common law doctrine with little modification. Under section 107, the fair use of a copyrighted work is not copyright infringement, even if such use technically violates section 106. While fair use explicitly applies to use of copyrighted work for criticism, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research purposes, the defense is not limited to these areas. The Act gives four factors to be considered to determine whether a particular use is a fair use: the purpose and character of the use (commercial or educational, transformative or reproductive); the nature of the copyrighted work (fictional or factual, the degree of creativity); the amount and substantiality of the portion of the original work used; and the effect of the use upon the market (or potential market) for the original work.

The simple humanity and honesty of this man, and his spectacular genius associated with one particular thing in life should never be forgotten and for me, is truly inspiring. Nobody, before or since ever played or took part in anything, let alone Darts the way he did. He hid nothing, there is no cover up, or gaslighting here. It is all there to see, and he clearly was, what he was, which particularly in the modern media age (especially for anyone who describes themselves as Woke) should be admired. If you have any doubt about this, and what a rare commodity this is (nowadays), just watch this video and listen to the comments of the late Eric Bristow and others. To some, if hopefully not most, he may be, as The World moves on, one of Scotland's greatest, yet sadly often overlooked sporting superstars. But, not overlooked by me. RIP, Wee (Great) Man. You always were, exactly what we always knew you were. "A Truly Genuine Sporting Hero!" Somebody should make the movie of his life.
