Jerwood Space : the Lift!
Jerwood Space in Union St, London SE1. It opened in 1998 and is now recognised as one of the best rehearsal spaces for theatre and dance in the UK.
A couple of years back a very famous actor complained that the electronic voice in the passenger lift was “inappropriate” for the finest rehearsal space; so they asked the complainant to put his mouth where his money was.
To their surprise the actor agreed. He recorded his own voice for the lift– and it remains in use to this day. Can you spot the famous voice? Answer in the end credits!
