Rockliff has been deputy leader of the Tasmanian division of the Liberal Party since 30 March 2006. He is also opposition whip, shadow minister for arts, water, primary industries and the environment.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff attended our Workplace Leaders Convention last week and agreed to take questions from the floor. His performance was thoroughly unconvincing.
He was asked again and again about education cuts, broken promises and lies over a pay freeze and never gave a straight answer to a single question. All we saw was him nervously deliver scripted lines from his advisors.
There was however one interesting revelation. Mr Rockliff takes every opportunity to accuse teachers of rejecting an 18 month pay freeze but he was forced to admit that he didn’t know if one was ever formally put to unions. For the record it wasn’t but why would he let the truth get in the way…

TIA’s 2014 Science Showcase, which attracted 119 attendees, focused on the theme: From on-farm productivity to agri-food profitability. The event was officially opened by Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Hon Jeremy Rockliff. During his speech, Mr Rockliff highlighted that Showcase’s theme fitted perfectly with the new government’s plans to increase the value of agriculture in Tasmania 10-fold to $10 billion by 2050.
