A preliminary investigation of Royal Navy Officer professional networks after 1673
The ADM 8 Database Project provides amazing insight into the Royal Navy's deployments after 1673.
The project, part of GlobalMaritimeHistory, involves the transcription of (usually) monthly reports into a database so that researchers can look more quickly at the information across of the breadth of the volumes as well as read individual documents.
In this presentation, Dr Samuel McLean provided a brief overview of the project and database, and then discussed what ADM8 can tell us about the size and variety of Royal Navy professional networks after 1673 – including detailing the limits of that data.
