James Howard Clark (May 11, 1888 – August 1952) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was speaker of the Legislature of Ontario from 1939 to 1943 and served as Liberal MPP for Windsor—Sandwich from 1934 to 1943.
He ran unsuccessfully for the Windsor West seat in the provincial assembly in 1929 and then was elected in 1934 for Windsor—Sandwich. After Norman Hipel resigned as speaker to join the provincial cabinet, Clark was named speaker.
In 1972 he was a crew member of the British boat which finished seventh in the coxless fours event.
Four years later at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal he won the silver medal with the British boat in the eights competition.
At the 1977 (Amsterdam) and 1978 (Karapiro NZ) World Rowing Championships, he won Silver medals both years rowing with John Roberts in the coxless pair event.
At the 1980 Games in Moscow he and his partner Chris Baillieu finished fourth in the double sculls contest.
During the early 1970s he was a physical education schoolmaster at Cardinal Vaughan Grammar School, where he taught and coached the future Olympic champion oarsman Martin Cross. Cross identifies Clark as a major influence and inspiration in his memoirs. Subsequently Clark was master in charge of rowing at Latymer Upper School, where among his early protégés there was the double Olympic rowing gold medallist, Andy Holmes. He then became a DT teacher and retired from teaching in the summer of 2010. James Clark also coached at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where his sculler Beryl Mitchell finished sixth in the final. In 1992 he was the chief Olympic coach to the Danish Rowing Team, where his crew finished seventh in the eights.
Born in London and educated at Charterhouse and Merton College, Oxford, Clark has lived in Bangkok, Thailand since , and is now a permanent resident. He owns a company called Thai Open Source Software Center, which provides him a legal framework for his open-source activities.
James Clark served as Technical Lead of the Working Group that developed XML—notably contributing the self-closing, empty-element tag syntax (for example: "<tagname/>"), and the name XML. His contributions to XML are cited in dozens of books on the subject.
James is the author or co-author of a number of influential specifications and implementations, including:
He is listed as part of the Working Group that developed the Java Streaming API for XML (StAX) JSR 173 at the JCP.

Clark Crater is a crater in the Phaethontis quadrangle of Mars, located at 55.6°S latitude and 133.4°W longitude. It is 98.0km in diameter and was named after Alvan Clark, and the name was approved in 1973. Dunes are visible on the floor of the crater, and dust devil tracks are in the area. Both of these features can be seen in the pictures below. The thin, dark streaks are dust devil tracks.

The band was formed in Ottawa in 1999 by John Tielli who sang, played guitar and composed.
Initially named simply "Clark", the group found this problematic due to other groups being identically or similarly named. It was decided that using the name "CLARK the band" would help to alleviate the issue.
The group's roster changed throughout its existence with Tielli being the only consistent member. Primary members also included Matt Gagnon on bass and vocals, Mike Dubue on keyboards and vocals, Philip Shaw Bova on drums, Andrew McCormack on drums, Jeremy Gara on drums, Tim Kingsbury on bass and vocals, Vish Khanna on drums, Robin Buckley on drums, Dan Neill on drums, vocals and keyboards, Ryan Myshrall on bass, Jordy Walker on drums and Corwin Fox on bass and vocals.
The group disbanded in 2007. Tielli has since moved to Toronto and formed the group Metal Kites.
