ITV Wales and West, previously known as HTV, refers to the Independent Television franchise area until 31 December 2013, licensed to a broadcaster by the regulator Ofcom.
There is no channel, past or present, named "ITV Wales and West". The licence relates to a 'dual region', meaning that the franchise area was divided into two regions, each of which must be served by distinct and separate ITV programme services as more fully defined within the licence. Today, those services are known as ITV Cymru Wales and ITV West Country(since ITV West and ITV Westcountry merged into a single region). They are provided by ITV plc which owns and operates the two services through its subsidiary ITV Broadcasting Ltd.
From January 2014, the dual-region licence was split in two, with ITV Cymru Wales for Wales and ITV West Country covering the West of England. Both licences remain held by ITV Broadcasting Ltd and the legal names of the former HTV companies have not yet been changed again.
Wales & West was a train operating company in the United Kingdom that operated the South Wales & West franchise from 1996 until 2001.
The franchise was operated by Prism Rail from October 1996 until July 2000, when the firm was taken over by National Express. The company ceased to operate trains in October 2001, following a reorganization of rail franchises.
Operations
Originally privatized under the name South Wales and West Railway, the company operated a network of local and middle-distance services in South Wales and the south west of England. These ranged from rural services in Cornwall and Pembrokeshire to urban commuter services in the Bristol area.
Longer-distance services operated under the Alphaline brand provided regular links to North Wales and the north west of England, as well as to the South Coast and London Waterloo.
Wales and West received considerable government subsidy. The first full financial year (1997/98) was supported by a payment of £70.9 million, with expenditure due to reduce to £38.1 million for its final trading year of 2003/4. The provisional claim from British Rail for the year 1996/97 had been £84.8 million, including an administered profit of £4.8 million.
.wales is one of two country code top level domains for Wales (the other being .cymru) which were put forth by Nominet UK in 2012. Final approval for both top level domains for Wales was granted by ICANN in June 2014.
A phased launch of the new domains was scheduled, with trademark holders being eligible to apply initially. General availability was expected by the spring of 2015. Early adopters of the domains include the Welsh government and male voice choirOnly Men Aloud!.

Welsh Government starts crackdown on second home problem | ITV News
Concerns over second homes are certainly not confined to Pembrokeshire or Wales, but there are few better illustrations of the problem than the village of Solfach (or Solva in English), in Pembrokeshire.

South Wales Fire chief 'under investigation' following ITV News interview | ITV News
The Chief Fire Officer for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is being investigated after a victim of sexual harassment accused him of being untruthful about what he knew of her case.
In an interview with ITV News last December, Huw Jakeway said he had been unaware of the harassment suffered by Shirley - who does not wish to reveal her surname - while she worked as a cleaner at a Cardiff fire station.
An external investigation has now been commissioned by the service following a further complaint by Shirley.
CFO Jakeway’s comments followed a report on ITV News in which she detailed how a serving firefighter had been allowed to remain in the service despite exposing himself and chasing her around the station.

Still Legal Highs Fix on ITV News West Country
A Fixers campaign led by Lisa Dyke: http://www.fixers.org.uk/news/14028-11208/legal-highs-fix-on-itv-news.php
‘Parents need to be aware that legal highs are being targeted at the younger generation. They look like packets of sweets, but there are a lot of parents and carers who don't know these legal highs exist.’
Lisa Dyke is warning of the potentially devastating impact legal highs can have after seeing their effects on someone close to her.

Pengelli rainforest featured on ITV Wales at Six on the 2nd of June 2023. Catch-up on the feature here and learn all about why we're so keen to extend this remaining fragment of what was once an abundant ecosystem...
Pengelli Forest is part of the largest block of ancient Oak woodland in West Wales and is one of the few remaining areas of temperate rainforest in the UK.
Now we have a chance to restore a 13.5 acre extension to Pengelli. At the moment we are leasing this land, but the lease ends this year and we have the opportunity to buy the land for £78,000 and secure its future.
Fragmentation is one of the greatest threats to the survival of our native woodlands. There is a simple ecological rule: the smaller and more isolated a woodland becomes the more likely it is that species will become extinct.
Our long-term plan is to significantly extend the Pengelli nature reserve so we can manage the land sympathetically to provide the best possible conditions for wildlife, and to create links with other nearby woodlands.
The larger combined area would represent an essential step towards ensuring a much more resilient, secure and species rich future for this area. We will be able to safeguard many vulnerable species, including the rare barbastelle bat, the visiting greater horseshoe bats, breeding populations of dormice, together with the woodland birds and butterflies, particularly the silver-washed fritillary.
We can only ensure the long-term survival of resilient populations of these creatures if we can provide the space that they need: secure space to breed, forage and prosper.
