Italian Argentines (Italian:Italo-argentini, Spanish:ítalo-argentinos) are Argentine-born citizens of Italian descent or Italian-born people who reside in Argentina. It is estimated up to 17 million Argentines have some degree of Italian descent (up to 37% of the total population), Italians began arriving in Argentina in great numbers from 1857 to 1940, totaling 44.9% of the entire immigrant population; more than from any other country (including Spain at 31.5%), and this migratory flow continued to the early 1950s, with Italy also having the most emigrants to Argentina for the decades 1980–2000. Because of this, Italian descent is at least 37% of the population, almost 17 million.
In 1996, the Italian Argentines were 12,8 million when Argentina’s population was about 34.5 million, meaning that they were 37% of the Argentine population.
Italian settlement in Argentina, along with Spanish settlement, formed the backbone of today's Argentine society. Argentine culture has significant connections to Italian culture in terms of language, and customs.
Buenos Aires, Argentina, is the most-visited city in all of South America. And no visit is complete without a trip to La Boca, a colorful neighborhood that in the late 19th and early 20th centuries experienced a massive wave of Italian immigration. Today an estimated 62% of Argentinians claim some Italian heritage. Correspondent Conor Knighton gets a taste of Buenos Aires' best pizza, gelato and Italian liqueurs, and surveys the imprint that Italian immigrants had on Argentina's art and culture.

Pope to Italian, Argentinian rugby sides: let's be a team!
Rugby is a sport that demands struggle and commitment. But above all, the important thing is to move forward together, never run alone, up to the goal line.
