You probably know what information technology (IT) is, but have you ever wondered “what is information systems?” When you start to get into technology fields, you’ll find that abbreviations are everywhere. We’ve all heard of IT, but what about IS, or CIS?
When you study IS – information systems (or CIS – computer information systems) – you’re learning about the technology that moves information from one user to another, and everything in between (basically like what someone does in IT). But – at the same time – you’re also learning about what methods and tools would work best in each situation.
When you add to your basic computer skills with information systems, you gain the knowledge needed to make sure that the tools being used are actually the best ones for each situation. Let Jake Sorem of Rasmussen University answer the question “What is information systems?” and find out if the field would be a good fit for you.
