Library and information science (LIS) (sometimes given as the plural library and information sciences) or as "library and information studies") is a merging of library science and information science. The joint term is associated with schools of library and information science (abbreviated to "SLIS"). In the last part of 1960s, schools of librarianship, which generally developed from professional training programs (not academic disciplines) to university institutions during the second half of the 20th century, began to add the term "information science" to their names. The first school to do this was at the University of Pittsburgh in 1964. More schools followed during the 1970s and 1980s, and by the 1990s almost all library schools in the USA had added information science to their names.
Weaver Press:
Although there are exceptions, similar developments have taken place in other parts of the world. In Denmark, for example, the 'Royal School of Librarianship' changed its English name to The Royal School of Library and Information Science in 1997. Exceptions include Tromsø, Norway, where the term documentation science is the preferred name of the field, France, where information science and communication studies form one interdiscipline, and Sweden, where the fields of Archival science, Library science and Museology have been integrated as Archival, Library and Museum studies.
Inspec coverage is extensive in the fields of physics, computing, control, and engineering. Its subject coverage includes astronomy, electronics, communications,
computers and computing, computer science, control engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, physics, manufacturing, production and mechanical engineering.
Inspec was started in 1967 as an outgrowth of the Science Abstracts service. The electronic records were distributed on magnetic tape. In the 1980s, it was available in the U.S. through the Knowledge Index, a low-priced dial-up version of the Dialog service for individual users, which made it popular.
Access to Inspec is currently by the Internet through Inspec Direct and various resellers.
The Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA) is an international abstracting and indexing tool designed for library professionals and other information specialists. LISA covers the literature in Library and information science (LIS) since 1969 and currently abstracts 440+ periodicals from 68+ countries and in 20+ languages.
Coverage
Meho & Spurgin (2005) found that in a list of 2,625 items published between 1982 and 2002 by 68 faculty members of 18 schools of library and information science, only 10 databases provided significant coverage of the LIS literature. Data showed that Library Literature and Information Science (LLIS) indexes the highest percentage of LIS faculty publications (31.2%), followed by INSPEC (30.6%), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)(29.6%), and LISA (27.2%). LISA is thus the fourth most comprehensive in this study.

Hi everyone! This is Top 3D Shop, and in this video, you will learn about the Shining 3D AutoScan Inspec metrology-grade 3D scanner.

The system, designed by the engineers of the Chinese-based Shining 3D company, represents a perfect solution for reverse engineering, inspection, and quality control. The AutoScan Inspec can be applied in any industry requiring high resolution digitization with minimal effort.
The developers paid special attention to the ease of use of the device – a user-friendly interface and a set of intelligent scanning modes do meet these goals. For example, the user can point out certain areas which have not been scanned properly, and the device will automatically make all the necessary scans.
The AutoScan Inspec is as easy to master as possible, even for untrained users – it takes only about three hours to get professional scans when employing the device for the first time.
In most cases, 3D scanning with the AutoScan Inspec is a one-click process: the object is placed on the turntable, the process starts off using the Ultrascan , and a few minutes later you get a digital copy of the physical object with metrology-grade accuracy.
Scanning is performed by means of a structured light module with a blue LED projector, which improves digitization results when using the scanner under normal light conditions.
Images are captured by the dual camera with a five-megapixel resolution. The object to be scanned is placed on a turntable equipped with universal mounts – the 3-axis system enables one to inspect objects with complex curved surfaces.
The device boasts an accuracy of up to 10 microns, with the maximum scanning area of 100x100x75 millimeters. A fast and stable USB 3.0 connection is used for data transfer.
The scanner's open modular design helps to interact with the device while scanning. The AutoScan Inspec has a durable construction and weighs only seven and a half kilos, which makes it easy to transport.
The proprietary Ultrascan software is compatible with Windows; it is used to scan objects and preprocess their digital models, as well as convert the data into the STL format and further export it to CAD systems such as Geomagic Control X, Design X, Zbrush and Polyworks.

Hi everyone! This is Top 3D Shop, and in this video, you will learn about the Shining 3D AutoScan Inspec metrology-grade 3D scanner.
https://top3dshop.com/product/shining3d-autoscan-inspec-3d-scanner
The AutoScan Inspec is a compact desktop device that provides automatic high-accuracy scanning of small and complex objects.
