Why was India split into two countries? - Haimanti Roy
Dig into the 1947 Partition of India, when Britain split the region into two states, India and Pakistan, and the mass migrations and violence that followed.
--
In 1947, the British viceroy announced that after 200 years of British rule, India would gain independence and be partitioned into Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan. What followed was one of the largest and bloodiest forced migrations in history: an estimated 1 million people lost their lives. What caused this violent aftermath? Haimanti Roy details the lasting legacies of the Partition of India.

Partition 1947 । Why it happened? | India and Pakistan | Dhruv Rathee
India’s Independence Day on 15th August 1947 was a landmark moment of happiness for millions. But the dark side of the moment was the Partition of country into India and Pakistan by Mountbatten Plan. What was the cause of this partition? Who caused the partition of 1947? Our story actually starts earlier than you might think. British started playing the policy of Divide and Rule after 1857 revolt shook the company rule. Pro-british Syed Ahmed Khan gave the two-nation theory in 1887 saying that the Hindus and Muslims are two different nations. I explain the role of Jinnah and the events till 1920s in this mini documentary.

Why British Left India? | Reality of Mahatma Gandhi's Role | Quit India Movement | Dhruv Rathee
On August 8, 1942, Mahatma Gandhi and the All India Congress Committee gathered at Gowalia Tank Maidan in Mumbai. They came together to advance the fight for independence and find a way to unite the people in this struggle. In his historic speech, Gandhi Ji delivered a simple yet powerful mantra: "Do or Die.” This marked the beginning of the Quit India Movement, a movement that didn't rely on prominent leaders but inspired people to join the fight for freedom. The British authorities, sensing the growing resistance, arrested many leaders, including Gandhi Ji. However, the movement continued to gain momentum, and its impact was so significant that it became one of the most serious rebellions against British rule. In this video, we will explore the inspiring story of how our ancestors united...

In this video, we will explore the inspiring story of how our ancestors united to fight for India's independence during the Quit India Movement, despite facing challenges and arrests. Join Dhruv Rathee in this video to learn more about this remarkable chapter in our history.
