IBM (atoms)
IBM in atoms was a demonstration by IBM scientists in 1989 of a technology capable of manipulating individual atoms. A scanning tunneling microscope was used to arrange 35 individual xenon atoms on a substrate of chilled crystal of nickel to spell out the three letter company acronym. It was the first time atoms had been precisely positioned on a flat surface.
On Apr 30, 2013 IBM published an article on its website and a video on YouTube called "A Boy And His Atom: The World's Smallest Movie".
Research
Donald Eigler and Erhard Schweizer of the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California, used a scanning tunneling microscope to position 35 individual xenon atoms on a substrate of chilled crystal of nickel to form the acronym "IBM". They also created chains of xenon atoms similar in form to molecules.

IBM 1710
The IBM 1710 was a process control system that IBM introduced in March 1961. It used either a 1620 I or a 1620 II Computer and specialized I/O devices (e.g., IBM 1711 A/D and D/A Converter, IBM 1712 Discrete I/O and Analog Multiplexer, factory floor operator control panels).
The IBM 1620 used in the 1710 system was modified in several ways, the most obvious was the addition of a very primitive hardware interrupt mechanism.
The 1710 was used by many paper mills and oil refineries.

On September 28, 1989, Don Eigler became the first person in history to move and control an individual atom. Shortly thereafter, with the help of a custom-built microscope, he and his team spelled out the letters I-B-M using individual atoms, signaling a quantum leap forward in the field of nanotechnology. Eigler built his scanning tunneling microscope (STM) in order to visualize and experiment with individual molecules and atoms. Building off of a previous paper in 2009, where IBM scientists and collaborators demonstrated the ability to measure the charge state of individual atoms using noncontact atomic force microscopy (AFM), they have now taken it a step further, measuring energy levels of single molecules on insulators, for the first time. In the nanotechnology realm, to make structures that you want to remain rigidly in place you would use strongly bonded ("sticky") atoms while for groups of atoms that need to move you would use atoms held in place only by weak chemical bonds.
IBM is no stranger to working with atoms. Two IBM scientists won the Nobel Prize for their invention of a specialized microscope that could "see" individual atoms for the first time. And in 1989, in the same Silicon Valley lab where today's breakthrough took place, an IBM scientist was the first to move atoms on a surface, spelling I-B-M in Xenon atoms. From this example Customer Care Sample Skill, the different intents are clearly care related to each other. The first intent addressed, usually is the greeting, then the goodbye, followed by small talk. The key is to segment the intents accurately, and not have conflicts. MADE IN IBM LABS: In a recent paper published in the journal Science, IBM researchers describe a new milestone in nanotechnology: the ability to measure the force required to move individual atoms. Their findings are an important step for understanding what types of atoms are best suited for building different kinds of nanoelectronic devices, based on how strong or weak of a bond they can form on different surfaces.
The ability to control atoms and move them around on a surface was first discovered by an IBM researcher nearly 20 years ago -- an achievement that has been hailed as the "Kittyhawk of Nanotechnology." But until today, nobody has known the exact force required to move atoms on a surface: an absolutely critical understanding if we are to build Lilliputian computer chips and storage devices from the atom up.
The problem is akin to what scientists and engineers needed to learn about construction at macroscopic sizes many decades ago. For example, building a modern bridge would be impossible without first measuring the strength of different materials, understanding the relevant forces, and comprehending how everything interacts. In the nanotechnology realm, to make structures that you want to remain rigidly in place you would use strongly bonded ("sticky") atoms while for groups of atoms that need to move you would use atoms held in place only by weak chemical bonds.
IBM is no stranger to working with atoms. Two IBM scientists won the Nobel Prize for their invention of a specialized microscope that could "see" individual atoms for the first time. And in 1989, in the same Silicon Valley lab where today's breakthrough took place, an IBM scientist was the first to move atoms on a surface, spelling I-B-M in Xenon atoms. More recently, IBM has demonstrated the potential to store data in individual atoms or small clusters of atoms, and that single molecules may work well as switches for future computer chips. As these breakthroughs before them, IBM continues to drive the future of atom scale research.

On September 28, 1989, Don Eigler became the first person in history to move and control an individual atom. Shortly thereafter, with the help of a custom-built microscope, he and his team spelled out the letters I-B-M using individual atoms, signaling a quantum leap forward in the field of nanotechnology.
Eigler built his scanning tunneling microscope (STM) in order to visualize and experiment with individual molecules and atoms. As he experimented, he discovered that it was possible to pick up individual atoms and move them using the tip of his STM. To demonstrate this ability, he created the worlds tiniest IBM logo, made out of 35 Xenon atoms.
Because of Dr. Eiglers seminal work, scientists continue making breakthroughs that continue driving the field of nanotechnology, the exploration of building structures and devices out of ultra-tiny components as small as a few atoms or molecules. Such devices might be used as future computer chips, storage devices, biosensors, and things nobody has even imagined.

IBM (atoms)
IBM in atoms was a demonstration by IBM scientists in 1989 of a technology capable of manipulating individual atoms. A scanning tunneling microscope was used to arrange 35 individual xenon atoms on a substrate of chilled crystal of nickel to spell out the three letter company acronym. It was the first time atoms had been precisely positioned on a flat surface.
On Apr 30, 2013 IBM published an article on its website and a video on YouTube called "A Boy And His Atom: The World's Smallest Movie".
Research
Donald Eigler and Erhard Schweizer of the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California, used a scanning tunneling microscope to position 35 individual xenon atoms on a substrate of chilled crystal of nickel to form the acronym "IBM". They also created chains of xenon atoms similar in form to molecules.

Your Chatbot Must Be Able To Disambiguate. Disambiguation Is Part & Parcel Of Human Conversations And Should Be Part Of Your Chatbot Experience.
IBM Watson has a built-in feature which allows for the configuration of disambiguation. In this practical example you can toggle the feature on or off.
Apart from this you can set the message explaining the clarification, the default is, "Did you mean"…this could be changed to "This might help" or, "This is what I could find".
An option is also available for none of the above and the maximum number of suggestions can be limited. The scope and size of the dialog will determine what this number might be.
This also provides a central point where disambiguation can be switched off; this of this as a global toggle switch to enable or disable this feature.
Apart from this, each node can be added or removed individually as the structure of the application changes.
Here the name of the node becomes important as this is what will be displayed to the user.
Hence it is crucial that the name of the node is clear, presentable and
explains the function and intention of the node it names.

Most often the first step in creating a chatbot is listing the different intents. Intents are really the different intentions a user might want to exercise in using your chatbot.
From this example Customer Care Sample Skill, the different intents are clearly care related to each other.
The first intent addressed, usually is the greeting, then the goodbye, followed by small talk.
The key is to segment the intents accurately, and not have conflicts. And not have too many or too little intents.
If there are too many intents, conflicts are inevitable, with duplication of data. If there are too little, the chatbot will invariably not address the query and need of the user. You will start seeing scenarios like fallback proliferation.
This is the challenge, having the intents granular, but not too granular. And also the inverse is true.
The test environment is IBM Watson Assistant Plus. Once we have uploaded the the data, Watson evaluates the user utterances and identifies common problem areas that customers mention frequently.
Watson Assistant then displays a set of discrete groups of related candidate user examples that capture the trending customer needs. The groups are so granular in scope that you might choose to add separately-grouped candidate user examples to the same intent.
You can review each recommended intent and the corresponding user examples to choose the ones you want to add to your training data.
