Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet OM GCVO (2 June 1857 – 23 February 1934) was an English composer, many of whose works have entered the British and international classical concert repertoire. Among his best-known compositions are orchestral works including the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. He also composed choral works, including The Dream of Gerontius, chamber music and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924.
Although Elgar is often regarded as a typically English composer, most of his musical influences were not from England but from continental Europe. He felt himself to be an outsider, not only musically, but socially. In musical circles dominated by academics, he was a self-taught composer; in Protestant Britain, his Roman Catholicism was regarded with suspicion in some quarters; and in the class-conscious society of Victorian and Edwardian Britain, he was acutely sensitive about his humble origins even after he achieved recognition. He nevertheless married the daughter of a senior British army officer. She inspired him both musically and socially, but he struggled to achieve success until his forties, when after a series of moderately successful works his Enigma Variations (1899) became immediately popular in Britain and overseas. He followed the Variations with a choral work, The Dream of Gerontius (1900), based on a Roman Catholic text that caused some disquiet in the Anglican establishment in Britain, but it became, and has remained, a core repertory work in Britain and elsewhere. His later full-length religious choral works were well received but have not entered the regular repertory.
I ♥… is a British television and compilation album brand by the BBC, which looks back at a specific year in each episode. The programs consist of celebrities and public figures discussing, reminiscing and commenting on the pop culture of the time i.e. films, fads, fashion, television, music etc. that relate to the program's overall topic.
BBC Made 3 series:
VH1 produced a USA version of the series of this show for American television, beginning in 2002 with I Love the '80s. The programs consist of celebrities discussing American pop culture that relate to the program's overall topic. The series continued with programs focusing on decades, such as I Love the '70s, as well as doing sequels to previously done decades, such as I Love the '80s Strikes Back. 2008 featured the premiere of I Love the New Millennium, the first series to be completed before the end of the decade presented. The series has so far released two programs that were not focused on decades, with I Love Toys and I Love the Holidays. The use of the word "love" instead of the heart symbol was presumably to avoid a trademark dispute with the state of New York, owners of the I♥ trademark in the United States.
I Love the '80s is a decade nostalgia television program that was produced by VH1, based on the BBC series of the same name. The first episode, "I Love 1980", premiered on December 16, 2002, through the final episode, "I Love 1989", premiered on December 20, 2002.
I Love the '70s is a decade nostalgia television mini-series produced by VH1. The series is based on a BBC series of the same name. It examines the pop culture of the 1970s, using footage from the era, along with "Where Are They Now?" interviews with celebrities from the decade. Additionally, the show features comedians poking fun at the kitschiness of what was popular. The first episode of the series, I Love 1970, premiered on August 18, 2003, through the final episode of the series, I Love 1979, premiered on August 22, 2003. A sequel, I Love the '70s: Volume 2, appeared in the United States on VH1 beginning on July 10, 2006.
Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934): MY LOVE DWELT IN A NORTHERN LAND Sir Edward William Elgar was an English composer. He is known for such works as the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, The Dream of Gerontius, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. He also composed oratorios, chamber music and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924. Elgar wrote a significant body of songs - approximately one hundred in all. Around one half of these are part songs of great delicacy, beauty and inventiveness. The majority were written for unaccompanied voices. He composed them throughout his working life, often, it seems, almost as a form of relaxation while working on large-scale pieces or on holiday. 'My Love Dwelt' was written in 1889, shortly after hi...

Sir Edward Elgar - Salut D'Amour (Love Greeting) In the Summer of 1888, Edward Elgar and Alice Roberts were heading towards marriage. Edward decided on a holiday with his long-standing friend, Dr Charles Buck of Settle, Yorkshire. As he left Worcester, Alice presented Edward with a poem she had written and entitled Love's Grace. While on holiday in Settle, Edward reciprocated by writing a short piece of music for her, which he called Liebesgruss (Love's Greeting). The work carried the dedication "To Carice", a contraction of his future wife's forenames Caroline Alice with which they subsequently christened their daughter. On his return from Settle, Elgar presented the work to his wife and proposed to her. They married at the Brompton Oratory in South Kensington, London in May the follow...

My love dwelt in a northern land A dim tower in a forest green Was his, and far away the sand, And gray wash of the waves were seen, The woven forest boughs between. And through the northern summer night The sunset slowly died away, And herds of strange deer, silver white, Came gleaming through the forest gray, And fled like ghosts before the day. And oft, that month, we watch'd the moon Wax great and white o'er wood and lawn, And wane, with waning of the June, Till, like a brand for battle drawn, She fell, and flamed in a wild dawn. I know not if the forest green Still girdles round that castle gray, I know not if, the boughs bet...

it’s not over till the end,
I have something else to send to you,
that’s made for you,
the only thing I have left in this world.
boys feel like men feel like boys,
always making too much noise,
I’m sorry I went too far
but you’re tearing me apart.
so I won’t be coming back this way,
and all the things we did and said that day,
be true to your heart
you’ll always find a place to fall apart.
I love love
so don’t give up on us just now,
there’s no laws to say who should be loved and how,
but anyhow,
you’re still the same, it’s me who takes the blame.
I love love and love loves me,
we never had any real quality,
why can’t you see,
just worthless words, hypocrisy.
I love love
it’s not over till the end,
I have something else to send to you,
that’s made for you,
the only thing I have left in this world.
