In Greek as well as Roman mythology, Hygieia (also Hygiea or Hygeia; Ancient Greek: Ὑγιεία or Ὑγεία, Latin:Hygēa or Hygīa), was the daughter of the god of medicine, Asclepius, and Epione. She was the goddess/personification of health (Greek:ὑγίεια - hugieia), cleanliness and hygiene.
Hygieia and her four sisters each performed a facet of Apollo's art: Hygieia ("Hygiene" the goddess/personification of health, cleanliness, and sanitation), Panacea (the goddess of Universal remedy), Iaso (the goddess of recuperation from illness), Aceso (the goddess of the healing process), and Aglæa/Ægle (the goddess of beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence, and adornment).
Hygieia also played an important part in her father's cult. While her father was more directly associated with healing, she was associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health. Her name is the source of the word "hygiene".
She was imported by the Romans as the goddess Valetudo, the goddess of personal health, but in time she started to be increasingly identified with the ancient Italian goddess of social welfare, Salus.
10 Hygiea is the fourth largest asteroid in the Solar System by volume and mass, and it is located in the asteroid belt. With somewhat oblong diameters of 350–500km (217–310miles) and a mass estimated to be 2.9% of the total mass of the belt, it is the largest of the class of dark C-type asteroids with a carbonaceous surface.
Despite its size, it appears very dim when observed from Earth. This is due to its dark surface and larger-than-average distance from the Sun. For this reason, several smaller asteroids were observed before Annibale de Gasparis discovered Hygiea on April 12, 1849. At most oppositions, Hygiea has a magnitude that is four magnitudes dimmer than Vesta's, and observing it will require at least a 100 millimetres (3.9in)telescope. However, while at a perihelic opposition, it may be observable with 10x50 binoculars.
Discovery and name
Hygiea was discovered by Annibale de Gasparis on April 12, 1849, in Naples, Italy. It was the first of his nine asteroid discoveries. The director of the Naples observatory, Ernesto Capocci, named the asteroid. He chose to call it Igea Borbonica ("Bourbon Hygieia") in honor of the ruling family of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies where Naples was located.

Hygiea is the Smallest Dwarf Planet
Hygiea is still qualified as the fourth largest rock in the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter but recent observations reveal a more spherical world that could qualify it as the smallest dwarf planet in the solar system.

10 Hygiea Sound
Hygiea (minor planet designation: 10 Hygia) is a large asteroid and possible dwarf planet in the asteroid belt. It was discovered by A. de Gasparis on April 12, 1849, and named after the Greek goddess of health. A member of the outer asteroid belt, it has a moderately eccentric orbit at an average distance of 3.14 AU from the Sun. It is the main member of the Hygiea family of Asteroids.

Asteroids - 10 Hygiea & 88 Thisbe.
The movement of the 2 minor planets can be seen! The 2 parallel traversing stars in the center of screen, they are the 2 asteroids.
This is an animation of 25 exposures of 30 seconds each, with 1 second gap between each consecutive exposure.
So the time difference between the 1st & 25th image is minimum 25 x 31 seconds, i.e. 775 seconds or 13 minutes. In those 13 minutes, the minor bodies have shown their displacement in the image.
