The Hopewell Rocks, also called the Flowerpots Rocks or simply The Rocks, are rock formations caused by tidal erosion in The Hopewell Rocks Ocean Tidal Exploration Site in New Brunswick. They stand 40–70 feet tall.
They are located on the shores of the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy at Hopewell Cape near Moncton. Due to the extreme tidal range of the Bay of Fundy, the base of the formations are covered in water twice a day. However, it is possible to view the formations from ground level at low tide.
The formations consist of dark sedimentary conglomerate and sandstone rock. The large volume of water flowing in to and out of the Bay of Fundy modifies the landscape surrounding it. After the retreat of the glaciers in the region following the last ice age, surface water filtering through cracks in the cliff has eroded and separated the formations from the rest of the cliff face. Meanwhile, advancing and retreating tides and the associated waves have eroded the base of the rocks at a faster rate than the tops, resulting in their unusual shapes.
The Hopewell Rocks - OFFICIAL Time Lapse video of 45.6 foot tide
The Hopewell Rocks Tidal Exploration Site is a fantastic place to experience the Bay of Fundy's world famous tides. To help our guests understand a full tide cycle, we set up a camera and took 1 photograph per minute from before sunrise until after sunset. The resulting 926 photos were then each used as a frame of video to create this glimpse of the world's largest tides. To fully appreciate this natural wonder, come spend a day with us on the ocean floor.

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world. What better place to experience these massive tides than the Hopewell Rocks? These brave souls set out to demonstrate how quickly these tides rise.

World's Highest Tides - Hopewell Rocks
The world's highest tides are in the Bay of Fundy - between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on the Atlantic coast of Canada. However, there is one place where the change in tides is easiest to see - and to actually walk around!
The famous flowerpot islands of Hopewell Rocks are surrounded by the bay twice a day - before watching the ocean retreat once again. Check out the story of the rocks - and maybe add it to your in-the-somewhat-near-future travel plans!

WORLD’S LOWEST TIDE! Hopewell Rocks, Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick | Canada Travel Vlog
On my epic summer Canadian adventure, I visited Hopewell Rocks, otherwise known as Flowerpot Rocks, on the Bay of Fundy, home of the world's HIGHEST & LOWEST TIDES, and one of North America's Seven Wonders of Nature!! Hopewell Rocks is a beautiful park with an amazingly maintained tidal viewing area in Canada. The 10-15 minute walk to the viewing area is one of the most beautiful hikes, lined with massive pines, and the Hopewell Rocks themselves are otherworldly! Between the fresh smell of pines and the smell of the "chocolate sea," I walked away feeling like I had taken a bath in the cleanest smells that nature has to offer. I hope you enjoy this trip to the world's lowest tide and the beautiful formations it has created! Thanks for watching, please stay tuned for more travel & fun vlogs!...

After crossing the Confederation Bridge from PEI to New Brunswick, we checked out the World's Largest Lobster, saw a 23 year newer version of our camper van, and explored the Hopewell Rocks in the home of the highest tides on Earth, the Bay of Fundy.
The city's asleep I'm lying awake I wish you were here Talking to me It was the perfect harmony When you were next me We didn't need those masquerades Don't let it disappear Chorus: I should be happy I should feel nice I should be running around with a crazy smile But I'm not happy And I just won't feel nice 'Cause all I think about is you Now you are gone To a place that's unknown Is it a paradise? 'Cause that's I have been told I would give so many things For one more second with you I'm proud of our time I hope you rest in peace Repeat chorus I should be happier, just a little bit That's what you'd want me to be But I can't ... sorry Please send me power, 'cause I'm weak Let me dream of your smile And the moments we share Don't know where you might be But I know that one day We'll be together again That's for sure I should be happy and nice I should be running around with a crazy smile Happy, oh, nice I think about you Repeat chorus Oh, it's you You, only you It's you
