Gloucester, UK
The City of Gloster lies on the River Severn between the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean. It is a cathedral city as well as Britain’s most inland port, linked to the Severn Estuary by the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. One of the main attractions of Gloucester is the cathedral which stands in the north of the city and dates from the late 11th to early 12th century.
A short walk from the cathedral is another popular tourist destination, Gloucester Docks. The docks are the most inland port in the country and contain many old dock buildings which have been repurposed for modern use.

A DAY IN GLOUCESTER (Solo Travel Vlog) 4K
Join me on my trip to Gloucester, as I spend the day exploring all the cool hidden gems and iconic landmarks that this city has to offer.
Gloucester Cathedral was the first stop for the day, which is known for its enormous tower, outstanding architecture and unusual corridors. It's so perfect, it's even been used as a filming location for Harry Potter and Doctor Who!
I then took a short walk across the city to the east side where the Museum of Gloucester is located, a free museum with some history. There are also the ruins of the east gate located on the main shopping street.
As the rain started to move in a little, I went down to the docks area which has a large number of old warehouses, some with museums inside. This is where I stopped off for a bite to eat before proceeding to my nex...

Welcome, let me walk you around the city of Gloucester and give you an insight into its fascinating history and heritage spanning 2,000 years.
It is a cathedral city alongside the River Severn, the most inland port in the UK.
It's strategic position meant that it became an important port for the supplying the Midlands with food and materials during the Industrial Revolution.
It is the location for the University of Gloucestershire having campuses in the city centre as well as the nearby Regency Spa town of Cheltenham.
There are a number of museums recounting the fascinating development of the city. The Museum of Gloucester which is also where The Tourist Information Centre is based is in Brunswick Road off Eastgate Street.
The historic docks, now no longer commercially viable, has the impressive Waterways Museum in a converted Victorian Warehouse which explains the history of the docks and the Sharpness Canal. It also has The Soldiers of Gloucester Museum in an Old Customs House which tells the story of two Gloucestershire regiments and the brave soldiers that have taken part in all major conflicts during their 300 year history. There are plenty of waterside pubs, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
The Docks hold a variety of exciting events, festivals and celebrations throughout the year including the fabulous Tall Ships festival, the Gloucester Food Festival, and the popular Victorian Christmas Market.
There are films, shows, lectures and live music events at the Gloucester Guildhall.
The famous Three Choirs Festival rotates between the Cathedrals of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester. The area has produced many famous musicians some have memorials in the Cathedral including John Stafford Smith who composed the music for the American National Anthem.
There really is something for everyone.

This is where I stopped off for a bite to eat before proceeding to my next and final destination.
Which is Gloucester Prison, where I joined a group of 20-30 people on a tour around the old Prison, guided round by an old prison officer who pointeD out lots of history and key facts about what life was like in this prison. It was certainly worth a visit and my highlight from the day.
