Hitachielectric multiple unittrains operated on the suburban railway network ofMelbourne, Australia between 1972 and 2014. Electrical equipment was supplied by Commonwealth Engineering to designs by Hitachi of Japan, leading to their official name today, though no actual Hitachi-supplied components were used in their construction. Hitachi trains have been also known as Martin & King or Stainless Steel trains officially, They were the last suburban trains in Melbourne with no air conditioning, and with windows that could be opened.
Configuration
The single-deck Hitachi trains operated as ‘M-T-M-M-T-M’ sets of six carriages (two coupled sets of three carriages arranged with two motorised carriages on either end of a motorless ‘trailer’ carriage).
Based on a successful trial of longer Harris trailer cars built between 1967 and 1971, the Hitachi train used carriages 22.86m (75.0ft) long, up from the standard 17.98m (59.0ft) length of the earlier suburban cars. The revised carriage design enabled a six car Hitachi train to seat 560 passengers, up from 540 for a seven car Harris train. The maximum load for a Hitachi was 1,500 passengers, 300 more than a Harris.
Train is the 1998 self-titled debut album from the band Train. The album was self-produced for $25,000 and three singles from the album were released. The first single released, "Free", was largely a hit on rock stations. The second, "Meet Virginia", peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the third single from the album was "I Am". The album has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.
Track listing
All songs written and composed by Train.
Original track listing
The original, independent release, released in December 6, 1996, had a different track listing.
A roller coaster train is a vehicle made up of two or more cars connected by specialized joints which transports passengers around a roller coaster's circuit.
It is called a train because the cars follow one another around the track, the same reason as for a railroad train. Individual cars vary in design and can carry from one to eight or more passengers each.
Many roller coasters operate more than one train, sometimes several, simultaneously. Typically they operate two trains at a time, with one train loading and unloading while the other train runs the course. On the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World, there are five trains, but only four operate at a time (the trains are rotated out on a regular basis for safety reasons).
Basic safety features
Roller coaster trains have wheels that run on the sides (side friction or guide wheels) and underneath the track (upstop, underfriction, or underlocking wheels) as well as on top of it (road or running wheels); these lock the train to the tracks and prevent it from jumping the track. The side wheels can be mounted on the outside or inside of the train, depending on the manufacturer (although outside-mounted wheels are more common). The wheels are sometimes located between the cars, as well as at the front and rear of the entire train.
In the Roman Catholic Church the cappa magna (literally, "great cape"), a form of mantle, is a voluminous ecclesiastical vestment with a long train. Cardinals, bishops, and certain other honorary prelates are entitled to wear the cappa magna.
Types of train
Fashion
Court train - Worn for formal court occasions, the court train had to fall in with strict dress codes which differed from court to court. For example, the French court code set in 1804 by Jean-Baptiste Isabey prescribed a four-inch maximum width for embroidered train borders for non-Royal wearers.
Double train - Two trains attached to the same dress, or a single train divided into two trails.
Fishtail train - A train popular at various times from the 1870s onwards, flaring out from mid-way down a close-fitting skirt.
A-train is Hitachi's brand name for rail rolling stock built and designed using a set of technologies including car-bodies manufactured from friction stir welded double skin aluminium extrusions with built-in mounting rails for sub-assemblies, and self-modular construction using supporting sub-modules. The stock is designed to facilitate a number of product life-cycle improvements including ease of manufacture, increase in energy efficiency, and recyclability.
Description
The "A Train" design concept includes several elements: the primary feature is the vehicle car bodies constructed from double skin aluminium extruded sections which are friction stir welded, other features of the design are hollow extruded mounting rails on the vehicle body to which modular components are attached.
Initially the A-train family consisted of multiple units designed and built by Hitachi, initially for use on the railway system in Japan. The A-train family comprises trains for both commuter services and limited express services. Hitachi has given the family a modular design which enables both production and refurbishment to be undertaken faster. The A-train's strong and attractive-looking body is the result of the use of revolutionary technology called friction stir welding (FSW). Due to the low heat input of this patented process high strength, excellent crashworthiness and minimal distortion can be achieved.
Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).
In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.
In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Jeans, made of denim, are a form of trousers for casual wear, now widely worn all over the world by both sexes. Shorts are often preferred in hot weather or for some sports and also often by children and teenagers. Trousers are worn on the hips or waist and may be held up by their own fastenings, a belt or suspenders (braces). Leggings are form-fitting trousers, of a clingy material, often knittedcotton and spandex (elastane).
Aussie is Australian slang for Australian and less commonly, Australia. Aussie can be used in the form of an adjective, noun, or proper noun.
Pronunciation
In Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland, the word is pronounced /ˈɒzi/OZ-ee (Australian English [ˈɔzi]), with a /z/ sound; however, in the United States, it is most often pronounced (incorrectly) /ˈɔːsi/AW-see with an /s/ sound. Pronouncing the word with an /s/ in place of the /z/ is considered by Australians to be a canonically American error.
Ethnic usage
Aussie is used defensively by some Australians as a term of identification for people and as a nickname for the traditional cultural group (of Anglo-Celtic descent).
