Hish (Hebrew:חי"ש, an abbreviation of Heil HaSadeh (Hebrew:חיל השדה), lit. Field Corps) was a corps formed by the Haganah in the British Mandate of Palestine in 1939, following the disbandment of the smaller mobilized force known as the Fosh. It was the Haganah's main surface corps, alongside Him and the Palmach.
History
1939 was a turning point for the Jewish Defence forces. Orde Wingate was transferred out of Palestine and the Fosh was replaced by a less mobile but permanent "Field Force/Corps", Heil Sadeh or the acronym Hish. The forces were formed with men with basic military training into Home Guard units, Heil Mishmar, Him. With Plugot Meyuhadot (Pum) as covert "Special Companies" to wage a counter terror war against the Arabs.
The VI Cavalry Corps (German:Höhere Kavallerie-Kommando 6 / HKK 6 literally: Higher Cavalry Command 6) was a formation of the GermanArmy in World War I.
VI Cavalry Corps
During the Courland Offensive a wide gap opened between the Army of the Niemen and 10th Army. Set up by the 10th Army as a temporary Cavalry Corps. Established 18 August 1915. Redesignated 20 November 1916 as 59th Corps (z.b.V.).
59th Corps
59th Corps (z.b.V.) was formed on 20 November 1916 by the redesignation of VI Cavalry Corps. As the need for large mounted cavalry formations diminished as the war went on, the existing Cavalry Corps increasingly took on the characteristics of a normal Corps Command. This culminated in them being redesignated as "General Commands for Special Use" Generalkommandos zur besonderen Verwendung (Genkdo z.b.V.).
By the end of the war, the Corps was serving on the Western Front as part of Armee-Abteilung A with the following composition:
The 51st Corps (German:Generalkommando zbV 51) was a corps formation of the GermanArmy in World War I. It was formed in September 1916 and was still in existence at the end of the war.
Chronicle
The 51st Corps (z.b.V.) was formed in September 1916. With the onset of trench warfare, the German Army recognised that it was no longer possible to maintain the traditional Corps unit, that is, one made up of two divisions. Whereas at some times (and in some places) a Corps of two divisions was sufficient, at other times 5 or 6 divisions were necessary. Therefore, under the Hindenburg regime (from summer 1916), new Corps headquarters were created without organic divisions. These new Corps were designated
General Commands for Special Use (German:Generalkommandos zur besonderen Verwendung).
The 51st Corps was sent to the Italian Front in September 1917 to help shore up the Austro-Hungarian Army. It commanded 26th (1st Württemberg) and 200th Divisions and played a prominent part in the Battle of Caporetto under 14th Army. Following the successful offensive, the front soon froze again in trench warfare. The German High Command decided to withdraw its forces again to use on other fronts. On 23 January 1918 the Army Command was recalled (to form a new 17th Army on the Western Front). The German troops remaining on the Italian front came under the command of 51st Corps until it was withdrawn in February 1918.

Peter Hoffman, Colonel Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg's official biographer has written that:
"Rommel returned to the railway station at Kasserine which briefly served as the combined command post of the German Africa Corps and the 10th Panzer Division, and ordered these two formations to take the Kasserine Pass. In the evening dusk Rommel observed, as he dictated for his diary, 'the exciting scene of the tank battle north of the pass'. He had SPECIAL PRAISE for the 7th Bersaglieri, who attacked fiercely and whose commander fell during the attack; they threw the American, British and French forces out of the pass ..." (Stauffenberg: A Family History, 1905-1944, Peter Hoffman, p.171, McGill-Queen's Press, 2008)
The 5th Bersaglieri Reenactment Unit reveals that:
"With the available GERMAN TROOPS EXHAUSTED and still waiting for German reinforcements to arrive, Rommel now ordered the two battalions of the 5th Bersaglieri Regiment (XIV & XXII Battalions, +-1,000 Infantry) forward to the attack. The Italians dismounted form their trucks and backed up by their mortars and the available artillery made a frontal assault on the surrounding ridges. The regimental assault companies and the heavy weapons platoons were sent forward, attacking at several suspected weak points in the Allied defensive lines. A successful breach was made about noon in the frontline minefields and defensive positions and some 800 Bersaglieri infantry stormed forward through the captured frontline strong points." (http://home.earthlink.net/~frenchgreg/id2.html 5th Bersaglieri Regiment)
Even US historian Bruce Watson concedes that the tanks from the 'Centauro' Division were Rommel's armoured vanguard in the push through Kasserine Pass before the Germans swung south and north to attack the British defending Thala & the Amercicans defending Tebessa:
"At 4:30 P.M., 20 February, Axis troops rolled through Kasserine Pass. A battalion of the Centauro Division headed west on the road to Tebessa ... The battlegroup from the 10th Panzer Division under Fritz von Broich FOLLOWED the Centauro battalion into the pass but headed north following the branch road toward Thala." (Exit Rommel: The Tunisian Campaign, 1942-43, Bruce Watson, p. 102, Stackpole Books, 2006)
The German attacks on Thala and Tebessa were failures along with the earlier failed German attacks on Sbiba & Kasserine Pass, until the Italians took over & paved the way through Kasserine Pass & even Highway 13 leading to Tebessa.
