Henrietta Keddie (1827–1914) was a Scottish novelist who wrote under the pseudonym Sarah Tytler.
Life
Henrietta Keddie was born at Cupar, Fife, on 4 March 1827 to Philip Keddie (1793/4–1852), a lawyer, and his wife, Mary, née Gibb (d. 1869), and spent her childhood summers at Grange Farm, outside Elie and Earlsferry, where her father owned a coalmine. She was educated by an older sister, Margaret, and then attended school in Leith for a time.
The family broke up in the 1840s, although the "Grange collieries" continued to operate to some extent up to the early 1860s. In 1848, Henrietta and three of her sisters set up a school in Cupar. In 1869, after the death of her parents and most of her siblings, she and Margaret moved to Blackheath, London, and then to Kensington. Left alone after Margaret's death in 1880, Henrietta went on a continental tour with friends and an adopted daughter in 1884, and then moved to Oxford for twenty years and Bristol for two, before returning to London, where she died in Belsize Park Gardens on 6 January 1914.
"Henrietta" is the debut single by The Fratellis, released on 12 June 2006, taken from their debut album Costello Music. It was their first UK Top 20 hit, charting at number 19, on the chart released 18 June 2006. "Henrietta" was released alongside "Flathead" and "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" as a download for the Rock Band 2 video game on 10 February 2009. It was also introduced in the bachelorette party scene in Made of Honor.
Set in modern-day Italy the series revolves around the Social Welfare Agency, a government-funded organisation which is supposed to provide advanced medical care to those in need. This, however, is a cover for a far different agenda: the patients, adolescent girls who have survived traumatic events, are brainwashed into forgetting their past, turned into cyborgs, trained in the use of weapons and used as assassins to battle enemies of the State. Each girl is assigned to an adult whose job is to provide the girl with training and act as a mentor and authority figure. The relationship between the cyborg-girls and their "handlers" forms the basis of much of the plot and varies from the affectionate to the indifferent with varying degrees of results.

Imagine something small enough to float on a particle of dust that holds the keys to understanding cancer, virology, and genetics. Luckily for us, such a thing exists in the form of trillions upon trillions of human, lab-grown cells called HeLa. But where did we get these cells? Robin Bulleri tells the story of Henrietta Lacks, a woman whose DNA led to countless cures, patents, and discoveries.

Henrietta Lacks: The 'immortal' cells that changed the world - BBC REEL
In 1951, Henrietta Lacks, a black woman from Baltimore, USA, died of cancer. However, cells taken from her body without her knowledge continued to grow and multiply even after her death. They became the first 'immortalised human cell line' and changed medical science forever.
HeLa cells have helped to create cancer treatments, vaccines and have even furthered our understanding of space travel. Now, 100 years on from Henrietta's birth, her immortal cells are helping researchers develop a Covid-19 vaccine.
