Human Nature (band)

Human Nature are an Australian harmony pop group, which formed in 1989, with Toby Allen, Phil Burton and brothers, Andrew and Mike Tierney. Originally they were a doo-wop group, the 4 Trax, while the members were schoolmates. After signing with Sony Music as Human Nature, they released their debut album, Telling Everybody, in 1996. Three of their albums have reached number one on the ARIA Albums Charts, Counting Down (May 1999), Reach Out: The Motown Record (November 2005) and Dancing in the Street: The Songs of Motown II (October 2006). Two other albums reached number two, Get Ready (November 2007) and Jukebox (October 2014). Their top 10 hits on the related ARIA Singles Chart are "Wishes" (October 1996), "Don't Say Goodbye" (March 1997), "Everytime You Cry" (duet with John Farnham, October 1997), "Don't Cry" (July 1999), "Eternal Flame" (October 1999), "He Don't Love You" (November 2000) and "When You Say You Love Me" (April 2004). Three of their albums received multi-platinum certification from ARIA, and four have received platinum, with a total shipment of over 1.6 million records in Australia, as of April 2011.

Human Nature (Madonna song)

"Human Nature" is a song by American singer Madonna from her sixth studio album Bedtime Stories (1994). The album was released with the intention to tone down the image of Madonna, who was being heavily criticized at the time. The song was written and produced by Madonna and Dave Hall, with Shawn McKenzie, Kevin McKenzie and Milo Deering also receiving songwriting credits for sampling Main Source's 1994 song "What You Need". "Human Nature" was released on June 6, 1995 by Maverick Records.

The R&B influenced song received mixed reviews from music critics. It became a moderate hit in the United States, peaking at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number two on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. In the United Kingdom, the single entered the chart and peaked at number eight and it also charted within the top ten in Italy and Japan.

The accompanying music video was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, and features Madonna and her dancers dressed in latex and leather dancing highly choreographed routines. Unlike her previous music videos for "Justify My Love" and "Erotica", however, the video was meant to be more humorous than sexy. It was a satirical depiction of sex, meant to ridicule the taboos that several societies place on the subject. Madonna has performed "Human Nature" on three of her concert tours, most recently on her 2012 MDNA Tour.

"Song 2" is a song by English rock band Blur, the second track from their 1997 eponymous fifth studio album. The hook features Damon Albarn yelling "woo-hoo!" as the distorted bass comes in. Released in April 1997, "Song 2" appropriately reached number two in the UK Singles Chart, number four on the Australian ARIA Charts, and number six on US Billboard Alternative Songs (previously called Billboard Modern Rock Tracks).

At the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, "Song 2" was nominated for Best Group Video, and Best Alternative Video. At the 1998 Brit Awards the song was nominated for Best British Single, and Best British Video. In December 1998, BBC Radio 1 listeners voted "Song 2" the 15th Best Track Ever. In October 2011, NME placed it No. 79 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".

Blur intended "Song 2" to be a satire of grunge. The song was nonetheless their biggest hit in the United States. The song has often featured in popular culture, and first appeared in the hit video game FIFA: Road to World Cup 98.

Nature (rapper)

Jermain Baxter (born December 5, 1972), better known as Nature, is an American rapper, best known for his association with fellow Queensbridge-born rapper Nas and having replaced Cormega in the original Firm QB group.

Career

Baxter grew up in Queensbridge, New York, and went to school with Nas. Nas introduced Nature to the public in 1997, as a member of his supergroup The Firm, whose members also included AZ and Foxy Brown. Nature was brought in to replace rapper Cormega, who had a contractual dispute with Nas' manager Steve Stoute. The Firm's first and only album, Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ, and Nature Present The Firm: The Album, went platinum, and topped the Billboard 200 album chart.

The group disbanded in 1997 to pursue various solo projects. In 1998, Nature was featured on Noreaga's single "Banned from T.V.", alongside Big Pun, Cam'ron, Jadakiss and Styles P. After several delays, Nature's debut album For All Seasons, was released in 2000 by Columbia Records and featured a guest appearance from Nas. It reached #50 on the Billboard 200. He followed this in 2002 with Wild Gremlinz, released on independent Sequence Records, which reached #150 on the Billboard 200 but reached #9 on the Independent Albums chart. Three of his tracks were included on the soundtrack of the film Angels in America in 2003. A third album, Pain Killer, was released in 2008. Nature released an EP titled Seasons Changed in 2013-2014 under DCM.

Nature (radio programme)

Nature is a long-running documentary programme on BBC Radio 4, covering wildlife and environmental matters.

It is broadcast (and available on-line) on Mondays at 21:00-21:30 and repeated on Tuesdays at 11:00 (local time). Past episodes are also available, in RealAudio, from the programme's web page.

Current presenters include Grant Sonnex and Brett Westwood; former presenters include Mark Carwardine. Nature is also broadcast visually on PBS.

Nature (album)

Nature is a compilation album by New Zealand rock band The Mutton Birds. The album, a selection of songs from the band's first two albums, was released in September 1995 in Australia and the UK. Another compilation, Box of Birds, a double CD repackaging of the entire two albums, was released in New Zealand two months later with an almost identical cover. Box of Birds spent three weeks in the New Zealand album charts and peaked at No.42.
