Harry's Law

Harry's Law is an American legal comedy-drama television series created by David E. Kelley, which ran from January 17, 2011, to May 27, 2012.

On May 12, 2011, NBC renewed the show for a second season, which premiered Wednesday September 21, 2011. NBC ordered six additional scripts for the second season on October 11, 2011. Later NBC ordered a full season with 22 episodes.

On May 11, 2012, NBC announced the series would not be picked up for a third season.

Plot

Harry's Law revolves around Harriet Korn, a recently fired patent lawyer, and her group of associates as they come together to form a unique law firm in a rundown shoe store in Cincinnati. In the second season the practice is moved upstairs to a larger office with the help of prestigious lawyer and friend Thomas "Tommy" Jefferson.

Kathy Bates as Harriet "Harry" Korn: Once a highly paid, top-level patent lawyer, she lost all drive towards this career and was fired. She seems to be finding new passion in being a criminal defense lawyer and running her office out of a shoe store. She is sarcastic, with weather-worn dry wit, and does her best to keep up with young lawyers, who in her opinion "if they knew where they were going they wouldn't be running as fast". Harry strives to see the good in people, often defending questionable innocents even when everything says they are guilty. Gradually becomes less abrasive in the second season, culminating in singing a heartfelt song to her recently deceased first husband (whom she'd rejected as a horrible person throughout the episode).

The season consisted of twelve hour-long episodes that aired Monday nights at 10pm on NBC. The series stars Kathy Bates as Harriett Korn, a patent lawyer who is fired from her firm when she is caught smoking cannabis in her office. She subsequently starts her own small firm in a storefront that used to be a shoe store where she defends clients charged with serious crimes.

Despite mixed reaction from critics, the series became NBC's highest rated scripted drama and was renewed for a second season, which premiered Wednesday, September 21.

Harry's Law (season 2)

The second and final season of Harry's Law, a legal dramedy created by David E. Kelley, premiered on NBC on September 21, 2011. Regular cast members during the season include Kathy Bates, Nathan Corddry, Karen Olivo, Mark Valley, and Christopher McDonald. Christopher McDonald was promoted to a main character after season one. Aml Ameen and Brittany Snow left the cast after season one but returned as guest stars in season two. The season was originally going to have thirteen episodes. On October 11, 2011, NBC ordered an additional six scripts, bringing the total to 19.

On November 12, 2011, NBC revealed that Harry's Law will move to Sunday at mid-season. On January 6, 2012, NBC announced a full season order of 22 episodes.

NBC announced that the second season would be the last, effectively canceling the series on May 11, 2012.
