Harpers Ferry-class: US dock landing ship
In service with the US Navy since 1995, Harpers Ferry class is the next evolution of the Whidbey Island class dock landing ship. This design sacrifices landing craft capacity for more cargo space, making it closer to an amphibious transport dock type, but was not designated as such. Externally, the two classes can be distinguished by the positions of weapons: The Harpers Ferry class has the Phalanx CIWS mounted forward, and the RAM launcher on top of the bridge, while the Whidbey Island has the opposite arrangement.
A total of four ships were built between 1991 and 1998: Harpers Ferry LSD-49, Carter Hall LSD-50, Oak Hill LSD-51, and Pearl Harbor LSD-52. These are dock landing ships which support amphibious operations including the landing of forces onto hostile shores.

While there has been speculation about U.S. military operations in Taiwan, including the presence of Navy SEALs or other special forces, specific details regarding any U.S. Navy SEALs showcasing military power in Taiwan are typically kept classified or unpublicized due to the sensitive nature of such operations.
The U.S. has historically supported Taiwan through arms sales, training, and advisory roles to help bolster its defense capabilities amid increasing tensions with China, which views Taiwan as a breakaway province. Although there have been reports of small units of U.S. special forces, including Navy SEALs, involved in training Taiwanese troops, the U.S. government generally avoids making official statements on these activities to avoid escalating tensions with China.
If there were a significant demonstration of military power involving Navy SEALs in Taiwan, it would likely be in the context of joint exercises, covert training missions, or strategic operations to signal U.S. support for Taiwan's defense, aligned with broader U.S. policy on maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific. However, direct details of such activities would remain confidential.
