HMS Bulldog (H91) was a B-classdestroyer built for the Royal Navy (RN) from 1929 to 1931. Initially assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet, she was transferred to the Home Fleet in 1936. During the Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939, the ship spent considerable time in Spanish waters, enforcing the arms blockade imposed by Britain and France on both sides of the conflict. Bulldog saw service throughout World War II on convoy escort duty during the Battle of the Atlantic and in the Arctic. Her most notable actions were the capture of a complete Enigma machine and codebooks from the German submarineU-110 in 1941, and sinking another German submarine in 1944. The surrender of the German garrisons of the Channel Islands was signed on 9 May 1945 aboard Bulldog. Redundant after the war, she was broken up for scrap in 1946.
Description
Bulldog displaced 1,360 long tons (1,380t) at standard load and 1,790 long tons (1,820t) at deep load. The ship had an overall length of 323 feet (98.5m), a beam of 32feet 3inches (9.8m) and a draught of 12feet 3inches (3.7m). She was powered by Parsons geared steam turbines, driving two shafts, which developed a total of 34,000 shaft horsepower (25,000kW) and gave a maximum speed of 35 knots (65km/h; 40mph). Steam for the turbines was provided by three Admiralty 3-drum boilers. Bulldog carried a maximum of 390 long tons (400t) of fuel oil that gave her a range of 4,800 nautical miles (8,900km; 5,500mi) at 15 knots (28km/h; 17mph). The ship's complement was 134 officers and enlisted men, which increased to 142 during wartime.
Seven vessels of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Bulldog (or HMS Bull Dog), after the bulldog:
The first Bulldog was a small 4-gun hoy bought in March 1794 and sold later at Jersey in the same year.
The second Bull Dog was a 16-gun sloop launched in 1782 but converted to a Royal Navy bomb vessel in 1798. The French captured her in February 1801 when she unwittingly entered the French-held port of Ancona. Boats from HMSMercury recaptured her in May, but adverse winds prevented her from escaping and the French recaptured her. In September, HMSChampion recaptured her off Gallipoli, Apulia.Bulldog returned to Portsmouth where she became a powder hulk. She was broken up at Portsmouth in December 1829.
The third Bulldog was a wooden steam powered paddle sloop launched in 1845 but ran aground in 1865 whilst attacking Haiti as part of a punitive raid against revolutionaries who had seized the British consulate. Unable to get her off of the reef, the British blew her up.
The fourth Bulldog was a third class gunboat of the Ant-class, sold for scrapping in 1906.
Displacing just 1088 tons and managing a top speed of just 15 knots, the ship was known for both her attractive lines and excellent sea keeping. Her pennant number was originally A317 but this was changed in 1998 along with that of other survey ships to an H-prefix (for Hydrographic — S for survey already being in use for submarines) to emphasise that they were survey ships rather than naval auxiliaries. She was finally decommissioned on 26 July 2001. She was sold in August 2001 for conversion into a luxury yacht. She was damaged in a fire in May 2004 whilst at Nelson, New Zealand and the conversion was not completed.

HMS NOBLE -Class destroyer ordered from Denny at Dumbarton with the 1939 Programme on 15th April 1939 with HMS NONPAREIL of the same Class Laid down on 27th July 1939 she was sold to the Netherlands on 18th March 1941 with her sister ship NONPAREIL built in the same shipyard. Tender price was£400,684 excluding cost of Admiralty supplied equipment such as guns, ammunition and communications outfits. These two ships were allocated to replace HMS NORMAN and HMS NORSEMAN whose build at Woolston, Southampton had been delayed by bomb damage in the Thornycroft shipyard.. The RN name was introduced in 1915 to replace the name NISUS for a WW1 destroyer changed before launch in November that year. VAN GALEN was not adopted by any civil community in UK after a successful WARSHIP WEEK National Savings campaign during 1941-42.. After WW2 sister destroyer HMS NERISSA which had been transferred to the Polish Navy as ORP PIORUN was renamed HMS NOBLE (ii) on return from loan service to Poland.

Hi All
Another model in the project of restoring some of the older display models in our showroom, this was not damaged just a few hard knocks and bumps over the years at shows and exhibitions, cobwebs and years of dust.
I have a great affection for this model, It was built by that master of model building Dave Woolley as a kit review for Model boats magazine in 1994, and is as far as I am concerned a miniature masterpiece of the modeling art, a joy to study and admire first class workmanship, And it is a working R/C model that sails and handles like a dream.
I also restore ( try to ) classic cars I decided to bring her back to life and keeps as much original as possible, war wounds included..
2.4 ghz R/c fitted with independent control of each motor on 6 volts and rudder.
Now back in her display case and in the Deans Marine model collection, only to be brought out on special hi days, too precious to risk any more in a hard working life.
Hope to catch up with plenty of sailing her from now one,
Sorry for the jumpy pictures aged knees and the new lake she is sailing on
is still under construction so the sides are all big granite stones and
very uneven under foot.
Enjoy, more repaired and rebuilt models to come

Bulldog displaced 1,360 long tons (1,380t) at standard load and 1,790 long tons (1,820t) at deep load. The ship had an overall length of 323 feet (98.5m), a beam of 32feet 3inches (9.8m) and a draught of 12feet 3inches (3.7m).
