New Yorker explores Great Hungarian Plain! (the place petőfi loved)
This is a video from a couple years back that I've just recently had the time to edit. These are the types of places I want to revisit with a film crew. In order to do that I need a bit of a budget. I've got to say you've guys have been absolutely AMAZING with the support so far. Of all the social media communities I have, YouTube is definitely where the truest supporters can be found. Thank you so much for fueling my dreams of taking the first in depth english language documentary series about Hungary to a major streaming platform. These Hungarian Horsemen Predated the American Cowboy
Before cowboys roamed the American West, there were Hungary’s Csikós. And on the Puszta—the country’s great plain—these traditional horsemen carry on their legacy. For centuries, whip-cracking horsemen in Hungary have been caring for their horses and cattle while practicing death-defying riding. The riders live in relative isolation in ranches that dot the plains. Although only a few Csikós are left in the region, Adam Bordás and his father János are keeping this proud tradition alive.

Is this the REAL Hungary? Great Plains adventure (Izsák)
If you remember, over 300 people entered the contest for a chance to win a free tour with me. All they had to do was make a donation of any amount to support the #HungaryWithWillie documentary project. The lucky winner, @zsunna, was so kind that instead of accepting the tour with me, she invited me to her hometown, Izsák, down in the Little Kunság. They welcomed me with a homemade lunch, and then we went on a full-day trip around Izsák and the surrounding villages. But the highlight of the day was an incredibly special experience: we received a private tour from a park ranger at Lake Kolon. This is a stunning and unique wetland area in the middle of a dry region, which unfortunately has suffered in recent years from drought and water shortages. Despite this, it remains a geographic wonder,...

Millions of migrating birds flying over the Hungarian plains, watch this!
The unbelievable number of migrating birds ( cranes, geese, ducks) flying over the Hungarian plains, provides a unique experience of watching, filming, and hunting. The cranes are prohibited, and not all the geese and duck species are huntable either. The best condition for successful geese hunting is foggy weather when they fly closer to the ground for better coordination.
The loudness of that many birds is just mindblowing, let us know if you are in Hungary during November time, and we'd be happy to organize a day trip to the best migration routes.

Despite this, it remains a geographic wonder, lovingly cared for by the locals, especially Uncle Moha, one of the most experienced and kindest guides I’ve ever met. He even took us to the famous Csonka Tower at the end of the day to crown this fantastic day; legend has it that Saint Imre died there.
In fact, the entire Great Plain has greatly suffered from recent climate changes. But what they lack in water, the locals make up for with kindness, hospitality, and true patriotism.
I enjoyed yesterday so much with these ladies that I’m offering another chance to win! Currently, we’ve received 415 donations for the #HungaryWithWillie project. The ultimate goal is 500!!! So if you donate from now on, you’ll have a chance to win a day with me. If you’d like to invite me to your hometown, that’s great, but I’m happy to organize an adventurous day anywhere in the country.
All you need to do is make a donation of any amount at one of the following places:
💳 HUF donations with card - www.withwillie.com
💸 PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/williegevertz
💸 Revolut: https://revolut.me/williegevertz
💸 Venmo: @willie-gevertz
The contest will continue until we reach 500 donations. Filming starts next week! The first two locations are Göcsej and Hortobágy, and I’ve already hired the videographers. We will be traveling to some other regions as well, so if you would like to see one featured in particular leave it in the comments. Thanks so much and much love,
Willie

This video takes you on a visual journey through the rich and intricate artefacts of the Scythian culture of Hungary, which once spread across the Great Hungarian Plains during the 7th–6th centuries BC; featuring a selection of Middle Iron Age artefacts, each piece is attributed to the Scythian culture in the region of Hungary. The details and exact place of origin for each artefact are provided below their respective images
