The two songs written by Gene Clark—"Polly (Come Home)" and "Through the Morning, Through the Night"—were originally recorded by Dillard & Clark for their 1969 album, Through the Morning Through the Night. In fact the Gene Clark & Carla Olson album "So Rebellious A Lover" was the blueprint for "Raising Sand."
"Rich Woman" was first recorded by McKinley Millet (as L'il Millet) and his Creoles in 1955, for Specialty Records. "Please Read the Letter" was first recorded for the Page and Plant album, Walking into Clarksdale, in 1998. "Gone, Gone, Gone" was originally written and recorded by the Everly Brothers for Warner Music in 1964. They also recorded "Stick With me Baby" in 1960, for A Date with The Everly Brothers. "Trampled Rose" was originally written and recorded by Tom Waits, and was featured on Real Gone in 2004.
Two of the tracks ("Radio and TV" and "Lonely Island") date back to 1960 recording sessions. The remainder, including the title hit, were all recorded at various sessions from January to September of 1964. It was the first Everly Brothers album in four years—since 1960's A Date with the Everly Brothers—to include songs written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, which had become unavailable after the Everlys parted with manager Wesley Rose.
Writing for Allmusic, music critic Richie Unterberger wrote of the album "A jumble of tracks from varying sessions that, despite some excellent moments, were indicative of the general directionlessness of the Everlys' career at this point."
Desolation Angels was recorded at Ridge Farm Studios in Surrey, England in late 1978. It is considered the last strong album by Bad Company, mostly because it contains their last major hit, "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy," written by Paul Rodgers and inspired by a guitar synthesizer riff that Rodgers had come up with.
"Gone, Gone, Gone", written by bassist Boz Burrell, also received substantial airplay on rock stations. It was the first of only three songs he ever wrote for the band, but is widely revered as one of the band's finest compositions. The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard album charts in 1979 and went Platinum in 1979 and Double Platinum subsequently.
A cover version of "Oh, Atlanta", written by Mick Ralphs, was recorded by Alison Krauss and appears on her 1995 album Now That I've Found You: A Collection. The original version was used in the open to The Nashville Network's 1993 broadcast of the Motorcraft 500 when ABC (which originally had the broadcast) could not find time to air the race, postponed six days by a snowstorm in the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)"
The musical collaboration of the decade, Raising Sand is the sound of two iconic figures stepping out of their respective comfort zones and letting their instincts lead them across a brave new sonic landscape. Despite hailing from distinctly different backgrounds, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant share a maverick spirit and willingness to extend the boundaries of their respective genres. This spirit, expertly honed by producer T Bone Burnett, has resulted in an album pitched three steps beyond some cosmic collision of early urban blues, spacious West Texas country, and the untapped potential of the folk-rock revolution.
Supported by the unparalleled musicianship of Marc Ribot, Dennis Crouch, Mike Seeger, Jay Bellerose, Norman Blake, Greg Leisz, Patrick Warren, and Riley Baugus, Plant and K...

This spirit, expertly honed by producer T Bone Burnett, has resulted in an album pitched three steps beyond some cosmic collision of early urban blues, spacious West Texas country, and the untapped potential of the folk-rock revolution.
Supported by the unparalleled musicianship of Marc Ribot, Dennis Crouch, Mike Seeger, Jay Bellerose, Norman Blake, Greg Leisz, Patrick Warren, and Riley Baugus, Plant and Krauss -- as both solo and harmony vocalists -- tackle an intriguing selection of songs from such tunesmiths as Tom Waits, Gene Clark, Sam Phillips, Townes Van Zandt, The Everly Brothers, and Mel Tillis. Raising Sand finds Robert Plant and Alison Krauss exploring popular music's elemental roots while still sounding effortlessly, breathtakingly contemporary.
Raising Sand was the 2009 Grammy Award winner for Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album, Record of the Year (for Raising Sand's "Please Read the Letter," a tune originally recorded for Page-Plant's Walking Into Clarksdale), Best Country Collaboration With Vocals ("Killing the Blues") and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals ("Rich Woman").

Some sunny day-hay babyWhen everything seems okay, baby
You'll wake up and find out you're alone
Cause I'll be gone
Gone, gone, gone really gone
Gone, ga-gone, cause you done me wrong
Everyone that you meet baby
As you walk down the street baby
Will ask you why you're walkin' all alone
Why you're on your own
Just say I'm gone
Gone, gone, gone
Gone, ga-gone, cause you done me wrong
If you change your way baby
You might get me to stay baby
Ya better hurry up if ya don't wanna be alone
Or I'll be gone
Gone, gone, gone
Really gone
Gone, ga-gone
Cause you done me wrong
