Going Back is Bruce Campbell's second feature film, produced shortly after The Evil Dead and released in 1983. The film had been extremely rare to acquire for a number of years, due to contract disputes between the director, producer, and the bankrupt original distributor. It was finally re-released on DVD in October 2006. The DVD release features an additional audio commentary track by Campbell, director Ron Teachworth, and cinematographer John Prusak.

In 1964, two high school friends, Brice (Bruce Campbell) and Cleveland (Christopher Howe), leave their suburban neighborhood near Detroit, Michigan to hitch-hike their way to the countryside before going off to college. They are befriended by a lonely farmer, Jack Bodell (Perry Mallette), who offers them a place to stay. As days pass, Cleveland helps Jack around the farm and finds in him the father figure he lacks, while Brice falls in love with a local girl named Cindy (Susan Waderlow-Yamasaki). Four years later, Brice and Cleveland meet up in their senior year of college and decide to "go back" to Jack's farm, where they find much has changed in just a few years.
A zephyr is usually a short-sleeved T-shirt with a front opening, with the opening and sleeve ends trimmed in the colours of the club.
Zephyr, as a garment, appears in the 1927 novel Blind Corner by Dornford Yates. "... I followed immediately, clad only in a zephyr and shorts, and was in the boat almost a soon as he."

Armed with a sweeping letter of both law enforcement and military powers signed by President Abraham Lincoln Jerry meets his old comrade in arms Gabby to go west.
The Confederate/Union officer calling himself Donald Mason is actually Jerry's brother Donald. Jackson started photographing Colorado for the Hayden Survey to map the West in 1870. Jackson owned his own photography studio in Denver, which enabled him to make contacts with railroad companies. Jackson traveled all over the Colorado territory and later, the state of Colorado, for over 30 years. He even climbed Rocky Mountains peaks that are over 14,000 feet high in to capture his photographs for the survey. Jackson's photographs also depict various Colorado geological characteristics such as boulders and creeks. Due to the lack of railroads, Jackson did not photograph the eastern plains and northwestern Colorado. Jackson later sold his business and the negatives from his photos to a photography company in Detroit when Colorado's economy declined in the late 1890s.

I think I'm going back To the things I learnt so well in my youth. I think I'm returning to Those days when I was young enough to know the truth. Now there are no games, To only pass the time. No more colouring books, No Christmas bells to chime. But thinking young and growing older is no sin. And I can't play the game of life to win. I can recall a time, When I wasn't ashamed to reach out to a friend. And now I think I've got A lot more than just my toys to lend. Now there's more to do Than watch my sailboat glide. And every day can be My magic carpet ride. And I can play hide and seek with my fears, And live my days instead of counting my years. Then everyone debates the true reality, I'd rather see the world, the way it used to be. A little bit of freedom's all we lack,
