Born in The Bronx to Puerto Rican immigrants, Spanish was Haslip's first language and learned to speak English in kindergarten. His father, Jaime Haslip served in the United States Customs Service, beginning as a Merchant Marine until moving to patrolman and eventually deputy commissioner.
Haslip moved to Huntington, New York when he was four years old, where he grew up. At age seven, Haslip began playing drums and moved onto other instruments such as trumpet and tuba until playing bass at age 15. Although he took music lessons and even went to a private music school, Haslip considers himself self-taught. Haslip has said that he went to a local music shop with his father and purchased a right-handed bass (Haslip is left-handed) and learned to play it upside down.
Go Figure! is a math game released in 1992 as part of Microsoft's Windows Entertainment Pack. The object is to arrange four given numbers and operation symbols - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division - to reach a given target number. Points are awarded for correct answers and deducted for getting a wrong answer, taking too much time, or using hints. The game has ten levels and ends when all levels are completed or the player runs out of points.
A talented young teenage figure skater named Katelin Kingsford dreams of being a champion. During one of her competitions, she is discovered by a famous Russian skating coach, Natasha Goberman. However, Natasha coaches at an expensive boarding school and Katelin's parents cannot afford to send her there. However, Natasha convinces the girls hockey team coach to give the last hockey scholarship to Katelin so she can train with Natasha. Katelin is overjoyed and excited to be taught by Natasha but quickly learns that juggling hockey practice, skate club practice, and her homework is much harder than she imagined. A student assistant coach for the hockey team named Spencer constantly ridicules her, and her fellow skaters in the figure skating club are just as rude. Katelin is also forced to hide all of her precious figure skating related belongings, as the hockey coach warns her that the girls on the hockey team despise "twirl girls". However, Katelin does find some solace in her roommate, Hollywood Henderson, a fellow hockey player. She finds out that Katelin is a figure skater, but promises not to tell anyone.

Robben Ford, Jimmy Haslip, Vinnie Colaiuta - Go figure by me
"Aurora" final song from the album "Jing Chi" (2001) with Robben Ford Vinnie Colaiuta, Jimmy Haslip.
For me the best song and the more interesting track of this album.
Good listening.
"Jing Chi" is a collaboration between renowned guitarist Robben Ford, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan) and bassist Jimmy Haslip (Yellow Jackets, Tommy Bolin, Steely Dan) with special guest appearances by Brian Auger and Steve Tavaglione.
"Jing Chi" brings to mind the essence of classic power trios such as Cream crossed with the adventurous sophistication of The Tony Williams Lifetime, yet leaves room for each player's phenomenal soloing abilities.
However, this record is more than a vehicle for fantastic soloing as the compositions are important, well-arranged pieces of music ...

"Jing Chi" brings to mind the essence of classic power trios such as Cream crossed with the adventurous sophistication of The Tony Williams Lifetime, yet leaves room for each player's phenomenal soloing abilities.
However, this record is more than a vehicle for fantastic soloing as the compositions are important, well-arranged pieces of music that exhibit a synergy rarely heard in today's music. Two of the pieces have vocals, Ford singing on "Going Nowhere", and Haslip providing space vocals on "In My Dream".
LineUp:
Robben Ford - Guitar, Vocals on "Going Nowhere"
Jimmy Haslip - Bass, Keyboards, Vocals on "In My Dreams", Production
Vinnie Colaiuta - Drums, Programming
Brian Auger - Organ on "Man In The Ring"
Dan Morris - Tabla on "Going Nowhere"
Steve Tavaglione - E.W.I. Wind Synthesizer, Synth Programming, Additional Keyboard Performances, Computer Programming

Go figure, it's up to you Go fine another then come back crying too Did you ever know that love is endless? Go figure, it's way past time To ver see me again in your lifetime Did you ever think i'd be so angry? But people say that life is just a game Well then i'd gaive it up And i'd throw it away And even though my life is falling apart The thought of you waiting For me as i come to you beckons Go figure, it's not for you What we can and what we cannot do Will never be part of this madness Go figure, it's not for me I held you down and you needed to be free So we can go our separate ways But people say that life is just a game Well then i'd gaive it up And i'd throw it away And even though my life is falling apart The thought of you waiting
