Loreena Isabel Irene McKennitt, CMOM (born February 17, 1957) is a Canadian musician, composer, harpist, accordionist and pianist who writes, records and performs world music with Celtic and Middle Eastern themes. McKennitt is known for her refined and clear dramatic soprano vocals. She has sold more than 14 million records worldwide.
Early life
McKennitt was born in Morden, Manitoba, of Irish and Scottish descent to parents Jack (died 1992) and Irene McKennitt (1931–2011). In 1981, she moved to Stratford, Ontario, where she still resides.
When she was young McKennitt wanted to become a veterinarian; she would later state that music chose her rather than she it. Developing a passion for Celtic music, she learned to play the Celtic harp and began busking at various places, including St. Lawrence Market in Toronto in order to earn money to record her first album.
Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century. Gloucestershire originally included Bristol, then a small town. The "local" rural community moved to the port city, (as Bristol was to become) and Bristol's population growth accelerated during the industrial revolution. Bristol became a county in its own right, separate from Gloucestershire and Somerset in 1373. It later became part of the administrative County of Avon from 1974 to 1996.
The constituency consisted of the historic county of Gloucestershire, excluding the part of the city of Bristol in the geographical county. Bristol had the status of a county of itself after 1373. Although Gloucestershire contained a number of other parliamentary boroughs, each of which elected two MPs in its own right for part of the period when Gloucestershire was a constituency, these were not excluded from the county constituency. Owning property within such boroughs could confer a vote at the county election. This was not the case, though, for Bristol.

After locating a rumoured private charter at Winchcombe, it was a pleasant surprise to see it was being hauled by Double Headed Steam. With 3850 & 7820 doing the honours.
I later found it was a shareholders special, I wasn’t too welcome on the platform at Winchcombe so found a bridge just outside of the station to film its run to Cheltenham Racecourse.
We then see the pair departing tender first back towards Toddington/Broadway.

What are worst places to live in Gloucestershire? Today we’ll be talking about the Worst Places to Live in Gloucestershire. Nestled in the scenic beauty of England, Gloucestershire paints a picturesque image with its rolling hills and historic charm. However, beneath the veneer of tranquility, certain areas in Gloucestershire have earned a reputation for being labelled as the worst places. This exploration delves into the hidden challenges residents face in specific locales, shedding light on the factors contributing to their designation as less secure. This video unravels the complexities that challenge Gloucestershire's overall image, from urban centres grappling with rising crime rates to more rural areas facing unique safety concerns. As we navigate through these locales, we uncover the social, economic, and environmental factors contributing to the perception.
6. Mitcheldean
Mitcheldean, a town in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, faces challenges that have contributed to its designation as one of the worst places to live in Gloucestershire. While the town has its charm with historical architecture and a close-knit community, underlying issues have impacted its safety profile. Economic struggles and unemployment have been persistent challenges, fostering an environment where crime can take root.
● Limited Job Opportunities: Towns like Mitcheldean may have fewer job opportunities, potentially requiring residents to commute to nearby towns or cities for work.
● Limited Amenities: The town might have limited shopping options, entertainment venues, or recreational facilities compared to larger urban areas.
● Transportation Challenges: Public transportation options may be limited, making it necessary for residents to rely more heavily on personal vehicles.
● Educational Facilities: Educational options might be limited, and residents may need to consider nearby towns for more diverse educational institutions.
● Limited Healthcare Facilities: Smaller towns may have limited healthcare facilities and specialized medical services, requiring residents to travel to larger towns or cities for comprehensive medical care.
● Demographic Challenges: An ageing population and a limited influx of younger residents may lead to demographic challenges, impacting the diversity and vibrancy of the community.
● Economic Vulnerability: Smaller towns like Mitcheldean may be more susceptible to economic downturns, potentially leading to challenges such as business closures and reduced local economic activity
5. Gloucester(c)
Gloucester, the county city of Gloucestershire, carries the label of being the worst place to live due to a combination of social and economic challenges. While it boasts a rich history and cultural heritage, certain areas within Gloucester face elevated crime rates and safety concerns. Economic disparities and higher rates of unemployment contribute to social issues, fostering an environment where criminal activities may thrive.
● Traffic Congestion: As a city, Gloucester can experience traffic congestion during peak hours, impacting daily commutes.
● Higher Cost of Living: Living in an urban centre often comes with a higher cost of living, including housing, utilities, and daily expenses.
● Crime Rates: Certain areas in Gloucester may face higher crime rates, including anti-social behaviour and property crimes.
● Limited Affordable Housing: Finding affordable housing can be challenging in certain neighbourhoods, affecting accessibility for some residents.
● Urban Noise: Urban areas can be noisy, and Gloucester may have areas with higher levels of noise pollution.
● Air Quality: Urban centres may face air quality challenges, and Gloucester is no exception, with pollution from traffic and industry impacting air quality levels.

Traditional English (eighteenth century) All hail to the days that merit more praise Than all the rest of the year, And welcome the nights that double delights As well for the poor as the peer! Good fortune attend each merry man's friend That doth but the best that he may, Forgetting old wrongs with carols and songs To drive the cold winter away. Tis ill for a mind to anger inclined to think of small injuries now, If wrath be to seek, do not lend her your cheek Nor let her inhabit thy brow. Cross out of thy books malevolent looks Both beauty and youth's decay, And wholly consort with mirth and sport To drive the cold winter away. This time of the year is spent in good cheer, and neighbours together do meet, to sit by the fire, with friendly desire, Each other in love to greet. Old grudges forgot are put in the pot, All sorrows aside they lay; The old and the young doth carol this song, to drive the cold winter away. When Christmas's tide comes in like a bride, With holly and ivy clad, Twelve days in the year much mirth and good cheer In every household is had. The country guise is then to devise Some gambols of Christmas play, Whereat the young men do best that they can
