Gazpacho - Dream of Stone [Remastered]
Lyrics:
Summer nights in windows frame the moon on your face
And when the night confines you in a desireless embrace.
Then, if you don't believe it all the magic is dead
And what becomes of little boys who're lost inside their head?
Well, if you don't receive the message
Then you'll know that I have failed
The answer, in all honesty, is constantly in change
The beauty in a desert dawn
The comedy of rain
Your will is gone, dreams will erase
You're hanging on by your fingernails
Will someone bring me back again
Night never needs a reason
The arrogance of love will always know
That when you close your eyes
The truth is shown and born
To fall in love is such a dream
It flies, to where it flies no one sees
The darkest stone conceals a vein of gold
Detest me when I'm running late
It´s a kiss...

Taking inspiration from a multitude of eras and subject matters, including the doomed Russian space capsule Soyuz and its iconic captain Komarov; the Tibetan Buddhist funeral practice in “Sky Burial”; the inclusion of the oldest recording of the human voice from 1860 and the Hans Christian Andersen inspired “Emperor Bespoke”.

Our beloved Bart, the long suffering tour manager and beauty behind too many other favours to even start describing without breaking the servers of Youtube due to the sheer size of the text file, has among these favours made lyric vids for the Fireworker songs.
He, foolishly took this upon himself, it was a much bigger job than he thought of course, aren't all such things that you agree to do in the heat of the moment knowing it is a problem for future you who you just don't really care for that much judging by how you treat that person, and then, when the day comes regret the idiot past you for having such a laissez-faire attitude towards present you’s valuable time and strong allergy to work?, as we all felt we needed something to project on the big screen for the release/listening party for the album that was graciously held by and at the Boerderij in Holland.
This was something that needed to be shared with the world so here is the one he made for «Sapien», something I cleverly alluded to in the title, to grease your minds before springing this on your unprepared and sensitive souls.
Spoiler alert.
The song Sapien is the last one on Fireworker and if you still havent bought it, the album I mean, not the species, then please, dont be that person. Nobody likes that person.
It is the «final boss deathmatch» as gamers would call it of the album where the protagonist meets the Fireworker itself and it gets to defend itself against his feeling of being a puppet under its regime.
There is a reminder that without this fire in our gut we would be defenseless against all the bad things that life seems to have such a knack at throwing at us at the worst possible times and we should thank the stars for having such power «under the hood».
Head out for the storm, so severe
Weather the dead zone
And know the animal
Did you get those youtube recommendations that mysteriously appeared a while back with all the stories of survivors? «Man lost at sea for 90 days» type stuff?
In one of those there is a man who was at the beach in a remote place «to take some pictures» who managed to fall off a cliff and break his back. Next time you complain that you ran out of coffee you may find it worthwhile to think of his situation for a sobering comparison.
He managed to, with a broken back, climb back up the cliff he fell off of and get to safety in freezing temperatures and somehow was rescued. Did I mention he had a broken back? That does put a damper on your climbing skills, I can say this with some authority as the documentary was very clear on that point and returned to it many times!
He could do this as his body prepared one hellacious cocktail of adrenaline and God knows what else and it put up a will to live that allowed him to battle through a pain that even imagined chills one to the naked bone.
As Kate Bush sings while holding that lucky bastard in the music video, «when times get rough you can fall back on us» and that is what we all do with the Fireworker as it overrides us as mentioned earlier, takes charge and saves our asses whenever, as the Americans would say, «the shit goes down».
This is not without its price and in the end of the song he asks the Fireworker if he, as a vessel for its journey through time, even has an existence as a being with a name, whatever that really means, and it replies «you never had a name». We are dust that has briefly formed into something that lives and to dust we return as the Fireworker lives on in other bodies.

Gazpacho’s intimate lockdown film ‘Fireworking at St.Croix’ newly remixed for the physical release on Kscope on 11th March 2022.
Pre-order: https://gazpacho.lnk.to/FireworkingStCroix
Available as a Deluxe 4-disc hardback book edition / Blu Ray / CD / double LP on black vinyl / digital album
Due to reasons which most fans will be well aware of by now, Gazpacho’s “Fireworker” 2020 album tour was cancelled. Stuck with the predicament of having a well-honed show rehearsed and the prospect of a long period off the road, the band had a decision to make. The idea of a live stream which would reach fans far and wide quickly presented itself and the band had a perfect setting in their very own rehearsal space in beautiful Fredrikstad.
The resulting film is a very moody trip into the world of 'The Fireworker’, captured on the 25th of October 2020. No fixes, no polishes, no light show and no nothing. Not even catering. Just the pure rendition of the music along with a surprise or two for those of you who have been with the band for a while.
In Thomas Andersen’s own words “Gazpacho has always been an ‘anti band’, in the sense that we strive to do things differently. For this reason, we wanted an ‘honest’ live stream where we decided not to play the gig on an empty stage with a light show. Instead, we decided to perform it exactly how we play when we record or rehearse in the actual room we use.”

‘Molok’ the follow up to their acclaimed 2014 album Demon sees the band continue to push the boundaries for creating the most complicated and strangest concepts for a record while simultaneously becoming the first band ever who are actively trying to destroy the universe with their album.
A small code that sounds like a strange noise at the end of the album will cause the correction software that runs in all CD players to generate a random number every time the CD is played. If that number should correspond to the actual position of all electrons in the universe then technically the universe could be destroyed.
Of course you may wonder why a band would want to destroy the universe but as the band ask, ‘If it can be destroyed by such minute creatures within it, if it is just a chemical reaction, then does it have any spiritual value? In this scenario there is no good or bad, just an absence of meaning'.
Across the album there are religious themes going head to head with modern day new science ideas and theories, Gazpacho’s Thomas Andersen states, ‘the album itself is about a man that sometime around 1920 decides that wherever anyone worships a God they always seem to be worshipping stone in some form. Whether it is a grand cathedral, the stone in Mecca or Stonehenge. God seems to have been chased by his worshipers into stone never to return. This harkens back to Norwegian folk myths where if a troll was exposed to sunlight it would turn to stone but it also reflects the way God has been incommunicado for a very long time.’
The band go on to say, ‘In a mechanistic view of the universe all events in the universe are a consequence of a previous event. This means that with enough information you should be able to calculate the past and the future and this is what he does. He names the machine ‘Molok’ after the biblical demon into whose jaws children were sacrificed because his machine crunches numbers. On solstice day he starts the machine and it quickly gains some form of intelligence as it races through history undergoing its own evolution.‘
Throughout ‘Molok’ the band focus on the idea that without God/a god to guide us, humanity is unsure of the meaning of life, that while we attempt to fill the void with other things we’ve still not found the answer and without a master to lean on we are very much alone in this universe.
On the album Gazpacho make a direct connection with history. Norwegian music archaeologist Gjermund Kolltveit appears on the song "Molok Rising" plays his reconstruction of stone-age instruments making an educated guess at what the early songs of worship must have sounded like. This includes small stones, moose jaws and an assortment of flutes and stringed instruments. He also plays the Skåra stone, a singing stone which has a strong possibility of having been in use since the last ice age ended 10.000 years ago. Technically this means that the album uses the oldest original instrument ever recorded on an album.
The band are also joined by world-renowned Norwegian accordion player Stian Carstensen who is a central member of Balkan-jazz orchestra Farmers Market

Gazpacho - Dream of Stone [Remastered]
Lyrics:
Summer nights in windows frame the moon on your face
And when the night confines you in a desireless embrace.
Then, if you don't believe it all the magi...
Lyrics:
Summer nights in windows frame the moon on your face
And when the night confines you in a desireless embrace.
Then, if you don't believe it all the magic is dead
And what becomes of little boys who're lost inside their head?
Well, if you don't receive the message
Then you'll know that I have failed
The answer, in all honesty, is constantly in change
The beauty in a desert dawn
The comedy of rain
Your will is gone, dreams will erase
You're hanging on by your fingernails
Will someone bring me back again
Night never needs a reason
The arrogance of love will always know
That when you close your eyes
The truth is shown and born
To fall in love is such a dream
It flies, to where it flies no one sees
The darkest stone conceals a vein of gold
Detest me when I'm running late
It´s a kiss of endings, kiss of hate
So what becomes of all of those
Who run away from home
Your world keeps getting bigger
And you're on your own
Home to no one. You're nowhere
The sandman takes you there
You'll be sleeping on the pillow where
night becomes her hair
climbing through the button hole
and falling up the stairs
So go on now, sweet prince and let me lead you on
Close your eyes to blindly look at the sun
You fall below the silver screen
Of knowledge it's a perfect dream
Rubicon's old bridges burn
You turn, they are ablaze
The great divine getting bigger
tears sting your face
You'll be sleeping on the other side
where a smile becomes your fear
Ladders lean against the wall
the well water is clear
Kiss it and make it better...
