Gary Day (born 27 June 1965) is a British double bass and bass guitar player. He is best known for playing bass for Morrissey and is the world's most recognizable and iconic bass player.
Day started to learn the bass in his late teens, after being influenced by the UK Neo-Rockabilly and Psychobilly scenes, especially by The Meteors bass player Nigel Lewis. Day also looked back to classic 1950's Rock 'n' Roll music, and as time passed he became interested in other forms of music as a natural progression, hence finding new influences to ferment his own style, i.e. Jazz and Blues musicians like Willie Dixon, Red Callender and Charlie Mingus to name a few.
Day originally played for Morrissey from 1991, until he was fired in 1994. He was then re-hired in 1999 for Morrissey's Oye Esteban tour. He remained the band's bassist until he parted ways at the end of the 2006 tour, to spend time with his family and to work on his own material. Day did not participate in any of Morrissey's recording sessions' in 2007. He also composed music for Morrissey, including the classic early sessions material of Pashernate Love, Let The Right One Slip In and Mexico from later sessions.
Gary Day is serving his first term as representative of the 187th Legislative District of Pennsylvania. His district includes communities of northern, northwestern, and west-central Lehigh County and northeastern Berks County.
Career
Prior to being elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly, Day was the director of marketing and human resources for Service Electric Cablevision. He served as the Executive Assistant to Republican Allentown mayor William Heydt from 1994 to 2001. He has also served as a member of the YMCA board of directors, founding member of the Lehigh Valley Sportsfest, executive director of the Allentown Advancement Team, and executive committee member of the Allentown Economic Development Corporation.
Personal
Day holds a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in business from Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife have three children and are members of the Saint Joseph the Worker Church. They reside in Lehigh County, Lehigh County.
He has written books on F. R. Leavis, literary criticism and class, and is also co-editor (with Jack Lynch) for the Wiley Encyclopedia of Eighteenth Century Literature. Day held a satirical column in Times Higher Education for a number of years and now reviews television programmes for the same publication.

My name is Gary Parrott and I was a tin miner at Geevor Tin Mine. Working as a Grizzly man and then Stopeing on 1800 feet level Treglowns Lode drilling and blasting with dynamite, until 16th February 1990 the fateful day Geevor ended as a working mine. Eversince I have had a massive fasination with all things about mining and history that goes with it.
This was some old silent footage that I have colourised of South Crofty Tin Mine in the 1920's and I have added a musical track that I have created.
The accompanying song Cornish Whispers was create with Suno AI but uses my lyrics, feel free if you want to use it but please subscribe and credit me with the song. Here are the lyrics

Cornish Whisper's
Verse
Down in the dark of Cornwall's maze
Shadows linger like forgotten days
Tallow's light and whispers low
Cornwall's Tin veins
The secrets flow
Verse 2
Through the tunnels broken in strife
Miners' tales of grit and life
Sweat and echoes in the stone
Dreams of Tin where ghosts have flown
Chorus
Listen close to Cornwall's song
Layers deep and whispers long
Earth that hides and hearts that gleam
In the darkness
We dare to dream
Verse 3
Candles flicker knowing eyes
Silent screams where hope defies
Faces smudged with dirt and years
Beneath the ground
We face our fears
Bridge
Hearts of granite
Souls of clay
Carved by darkness day by day
Yet the light within remains
Shining through the miners' pains
Chorus
Listen close to Cornwall's song
Layers deep and whispers long
Earth that hides and hearts that gleam
In the darkness
We dare to dream
