Gabon's ruling party, the Gabonese Democratic Party (GDP), on Saturday endorsed President Ali Bongo as its candidate for the national polls which are scheduled to take place in the second half of the year.

In Gabon, the results of the second round of parliamentary elections have been announced.
The ruling Gabonese Democratic Party, PDG, won an absolute majority in the first round and confirmed its supremacy in the second. Out of 143 deputies, the opposition won just 17 seats.

Thousands of pro-Ali Bongo supporters marched in Gabon's capital Libreville on Wednesday, as a show of solidarity with the president after his re-election in the August 27th polls was disputed by the opposition.
