Fredericton (formerly Fredericton—York—Sunbury) is a federal electoral district in New Brunswick, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1988. Its population in 2001 was 82,782. Its predecessor riding, York—Sunbury, was represented in the House of Commons from 1917 to 1988.
In the 2008 election, the Conservatives gained this seat from the Liberals. The Conservatives were strongest in the rural parts of this riding, outside of Fredericton proper. Within the city, the Liberals still held their own with the NDP capturing a handful of polls, one which includes the University of New Brunswick, and a couple along Parkside Drive.
History
"York—Sunbury" riding was created in 1914 from parts of Sunbury—Queen's and York ridings. Previously, York County was its own riding and Sunbury County was joined with Queens County.
Fredericton (/ˈfrɛdrɪktən/) is the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The city is situated in the west-central portion of the province along the Saint John River, which flows west to east as it bisects the city; it is the dominant natural feature of the area. One of the main urban centres in New Brunswick, the city had a population of 56,224 in the 2011 census. It is the third-largest city in the province after Saint John and Moncton.
An important cultural, artistic, and educational centre for the province, Fredericton is home to two universities, the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, and cultural institutions such as the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Fredericton Region Museum, and The Playhouse, a performing arts venue. The city hosts the annual Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, attracting regional and international jazz, blues, rock, and world artists. Fredericton is also an important and vibrant center point for the region's top visual artists; many of New Brunswick's notable artists live and work there today. Fredericton has also been home to some great historical Canadian painters as well, including Goodridge Roberts, and Molly and Bruno Bobak.
Fredericton was a New Brunswick electoral district. It was separated from the riding of York from 1924 until it was absorbed back into York in 1926. The riding was recreated in 1967 and existed until 1973 when New Brunswick went from bloc voting to single-member ridings.
Is Fredericton The Most Affordable Capital City In Canada? | Downtown City Tour
Fredericton is the cultural and legislative capital of New Brunswick. It has a lot to offer in terms of affordable housing, educational facilities, parks, restaurants and is very family friendly. Fredericton has a population of approximately 60,000 people and is the 3rd largest city in New Brunswick. If you are a tourist coming here for the first time, I would recommend coming in the summer to have the most activities available because it does get a lot quieter in the other seasons. Join me for a tour of the downtown part of the city and get my first impressions of what you can expect when coming here!

Comparing: Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John - Which is Best?
Welcome to the first video of my new "Comparing" series! In this video we talk about the three largest cities in New Brunswick, Canada. After my first video on New Brunswick, I received a lot of feedback, so I figured this would be a great follow up video. This video contains detailed statistics about New Brunswick and what Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John have to offer. Fredericton is more laid back, Moncton is more commercialized and Saint John is more Industrialized. Each have their own pros and cons!
Here are the things being evaluated:
1. Rent Costs
2. Housing Costs
3. Monthly Income
4. Local Economy
5. Quality of Life
If you guys are interested in more videos like this one, please let me know in the comments! Also with an election coming up here in Canada, I plan to make some vi...

Also with an election coming up here in Canada, I plan to make some videos breaking down the geography of it and how different regions play different roles in deciding who will form government. Let me know what you think!
Be sure to like, comment and subscribe! We are getting closer to hitting that 1,000 subscriber milestone! Thank you all for the support!

Fredericton has been my home for the last 18 years, and today I'm showing you just a few things I love about living here. Fredericton is the perfect blend of city and country with tons of green outdoor space and trails. The downtown area is especially my favorite with its markets, restaurants, and views of the Saint John River. Thanks for watching!

Racist confrontations in the Doone Street neighbourhood of Fredericton have left some immigrants who live in subsidized housing in the area fearful of their own neighbours.

Exploring Fredericton, New Brunswick | Mini Travel Guide to Atlantic Canada's Craft Brewing Capital

New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs delivers the annual state of the province address from Fredericton. He highlights the more than $200 million in new private investment projects in the province, which he says is an indication of economic growth despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The premier also announces a dramatic reduction in this year's deficit projection, which is now expected to be $13 million. His government had initially projected a $343-million deficit in 2020 and later revised that figure to $183 million. His address is followed by a question-and-answer period with Krista Ross, CEO of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.
