The Fox has 5,048 seats (5,174 seats if removable seats placed in the raised orchestra pit are included). It is the largest surviving movie palace of the 1920s and the largest of the original Fox Theatres. The Fox was fully restored in 1988. The adjacent office building houses the headquarters of Olympia Entertainment and Little Caesars.
History
The Detroit Fox is one of five spectacular Fox Theatres built in the late 1920s by film pioneer William Fox. The others were the Fox Theatres in Brooklyn, Atlanta, St. Louis, and San Francisco. Architect C. Howard Crane designed the Fox with a lavish interior featuring a blend of Burmese, Chinese, Indian and Persian motifs. There are three levels of seating, the Main Floor above the orchestra pit, the Mezzanine, and the Gallery (balcony). The exterior of the attached 10-story office building features a façade with Asian motifs which, when illuminated at night, can be seen for several blocks. The Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri is (on the interior) its near architectural twin with about 500 fewer seats. The 10-story Detroit Fox Theatre building also contains the headquarters of Olympia Entertainment, while the St. Louis Fox is a stand-alone theatre. The architectural plaster molds of the Detroit Fox (1928) were re-used on the St. Louis Fox (1929).
Fox Theatre is a movie theater located on Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton, California. Built in 1925 as part of the chain of Fox Theatres, the theater was closed and abandoned in 1987. The Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation is currently in the process of fundraising and restoring the theater.
History
The Fox Theatre was originally commissioned by C. Stanley Chapman to show vaudeville performances and silent movies. The theater was designed by architect Raymond M. Kennedy of the firm Meyer & Holler, who later designed Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The original name of the theater was the Alician Court Theatre, in honor of Chapman's wife, Alice.
An official landmark of the City of Fullerton since 1990, the Fox Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in October 2006. In 2005 the city of Fullerton began to show movies in the rear parking lot to raise funds for the restoration, projecting the film onto the outer wall of the theater, and in 2006 Los Angeles magazine named it as one of LA's strangest places to see films.
Originally known as the Fox Theatre, the building was constructed in 1929 in the Art Deco and Spanish Colonial Revival architecture styles. Its opening on Valentine's Day, 1930 was celebrated with a festival that drew thousands of guests, including several Fox Films officials. After Fox Theatres Inc. declared bankruptcy in 1933, the theater was operated as the Bay Theatre until 1998. The building was restored in 2002 and renamed the Robert T. Meyer Theatre, in honor of a former Green Bay businessman. It was re-opened on Valentine's Day, 2003. Upon re-opening, it was managed by the "Weidner Center for the Performing Arts."

The Fox Theatre opened on June 28, 1929 with the premiere of Behind That Curtain, a Charlie Chan movie produced by William Fox, directed by Irving Cummings, and starring Warner Baxter and Lois Moran. The theater was closed from October 20, 1932 to April 1, 1933 due to financial difficulties. On June 28, 1959, a 30th anniversary celebration took place with the screening of the 20th Century-Fox film Say One for Me with Bing Crosby and Debbie Reynolds. On March 5, 1960, a series of organ concerts on Saturdays at midnight began, in an attempt to increase business and keep the theater open.
Detroit (24 February 1977 – 20 May 2001) was a French Thoroughbredracehorse and broodmare who won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1980. Unraced as a two-year-old, Detroit won her first four races in 1980 including the Prix Fille de l'Air, Prix Chloé and Prix de la Nonette. She was beaten when favourite for the Prix Vermeille before winning the Arc in record time. She remained in training as a four-year-old and won three more races including the Prix Foy. She was retired to stud where she produced the Arc de Triomphe winner Carnegie.
Background
Detroit was a brown mare with a white blaze and white socks on her hind legs bred in France by Societe Aland. She was sired by Riverman a French horse who won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains in 1972. As a breeding stallion he was highly successful, being the sire of many important winners including Irish River, Bahri, Gold River, River Memories and Triptych. Detroit's dam Derna had previously produced Durtal, who won the Cheveley Park Stakes and was the dam of the Ascot Gold Cup winner Gildoran. Another daughter of Derna was Valderna, the grand-dam of the New Zealand/Australian champion Zabeel.
The highly anticipated mixtape caused the mixtape site DatPiff to crash upon the mixtapes eventual release. Detroit was viewed 1.5 million times on the day of release and was downloaded close to 700,000 - with 500,000 downloads within three hours. It has been downloaded over a million times.
Background
Sean first announced the mixtape on August 20, 2012 via Twitter and a YouTube video titled "Big Sean Mixtape Announcement 1972". Big Sean released three song previews in the shape of short music videos as promotion before the mixtape release; "How It Feel" on August 21, "24 Karats of Gold" on August 28 and "RWT" on September 4. Sean paid for the expenses of the videos himself. The title of the mixtape pays homage to Sean's hometown of Detroit.
Détroit is a French musical duo formed in 2012 by French rock musician Bertrand Cantat and French bass player Pascal Humbert. Both were part of the rock formation Passion Fodder from 1985 to 1991 before they split up and Cantat moved on to establish his own famous band Noir Désir, whereas Humbert went on to join the American band 16 Horsepower, and later to Lilium and Wovenhand, amongst others.
The duo Détroit released their greatly expected debut album Horizons on 18 November 2013. It was recorded in Vega Studios and produced by Pascal Humbert and Bruno Green. The debut release from the album is "Droit dans le soleil" that appeared in the SNEP Top 10 in its first week of release. It has also charted in Belgium's French records market and in Switzerland.
The formation of the duo follows the announcement of Cantat's band Noir Désir in 2010. The two collaborated in 2011 in the album Chœurs with musicians Bernard Falaise and Alexander MacSween. The music was composed for Wajdi Mouawad's production of a trilogy from Sophocles titled Le Cycle des Femmes: Trois histoires de Sophocle or just Des Femmes.
