China's Night Markets Have a BIG PROBLEM! (Too Much Food in Fuzhou)
I went to Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, for one night to find some of the most unique Fujian cuisine I could get my hands on!
Even though I only had one night, lucky for me Fuzhou is one of China's many gourmet cities. So, I hit the first night market I could find and I was not disappointed. There was so much on offer, the main problem was it was too hard to choose what to buy. Don't worry though, I managed to find some amazing dishes that I've never seen outside of Fuzhou, including one that almost blew my head off (figuratively, not literally).
If you like this video, please do leave a message to say hello and don't forget to hit the LIKE BUTTON; it really helps. Thanks for watching, stay safe and keep looking after one another.

Driving Downtown Fuzhou | The City Of Banyan Tree | Fujian Province, China | 福州 | 榕城
Fuzhou, the capital city of southeast China's Fujian Province, is nicknamed Rongcheng, literally translated as "The City of the Banyan Tree."
The origin of this nickname dates back about 900 years ago to the Northern Song Dynasty.
At that time, the city frequently suffered from flooding and summer heat. In order to provide a better environment for the citizens, the local governor, Zhang Boyu, advocated that "the city should be green, and no parasols should be needed in summer."
He made policies encouraging each family in the city to plant the banyan tree. And so, Fuzhou became known as "The City of the Banyan Tree."
Today, the largest banyan tree in Fuzhou is growing in Fuzhou National Park. It is said that the tree was planted during Zhang Boyu's rule, hence it is about 900 years ol...

Super Typhoon Haikui Battered China’s Fujian Province!
Super Typhoon Haikui Pounds China’s Fujian Province!
Typhoon Haikui, which has since lost some of its strength, made landfall in China's Fujian province early on Tuesday after lashing Taiwan for the previous two days. Thousands of people were forced to flee their houses, and many vehicles were carried away by floods.
The typhoon, which had a top wind speed of 20 meters (66 feet) per second, forced around 114,400 people to leave dangerous regions.
In a little more than 24 hours, rainfall in a few places in Fujian exceeded 300 mm (1 foot). After a fire vehicle carrying nine rescuers was carried away by floodwaters during a mission in Fuzhou city, two firefighters were reported missing, according to official media.
In the floodwaters, furniture could be seen swaying up and down. Social med...

Fuzhou, an excellent city to live in
If you had to choose a city to live in, where would it be? Writer Yu Dafu gave his answer in 1935, explaining why #Fuzhou is such an excellent choice. Leading with the Chinese character “Fu,” which conveys a sense of prosperity, the city boasts a rich historical cultural heritage, with many gems hidden among its ancient architecture and nestled beside the Mingjiang River. It also served as home to a group of trailblazing pioneers who have made a significant impact on modern China. Thanks to the hard work carried out by generations of Fuzhou people, #FuCulture has been well preserved and passed down. #Fujian

The 'Fuzhou forest walkway', commonly known as 'fudao', is a steel pedestrian route that covers about 19 kilometers (12 miles) along its winding path. conceived as an urban connector, 'fudao' links two bodies of water, while providing public access to the hills outside of Fuzhou's city center.
Singapore-based LOOK Architects designed a first of its kind elevated steel pedestrian walkway system weaving through forested areas in China.
Fuzhou Forest Walkway spans over 6.3 kilometers from end to end, threading through the full breadth of Jinniushan and covers about 19 kilometers along its winding path.
A signature urban connector network that provides public accessibility to indigenous hinterland stretching north- east of Minjiang, Fudao signifies an awakened consciousness to improve lives of city dwellers by bringing nature within closer reach.
There are a total of 10 entrances leading into the walkway network, each celebrated as a bold intervention into the existing urban grain.
For the entrance situated at the open plaza of existing Jinniushan indoor sports hall, a stately spiral ramp measuring 24 meters across its diameter is introduced, announcing the transition from flat urban plain to hilly forested terrain.
At the northern tip, connectivity to Meifengshan Park has expanded the design brief to include master planning for the future commercial hub encapsulating approximately 30,000 square meters of gross floor area.
Conveniences such as rest shelters, viewing decks, observation towers and teahouses with washroom amenities are interspersed throughout the elevated walkways, laid at a gentle gradient not exceeding 1:16 for barrier- free accessibility.
An intelligent walkway network equipped with WIFI connectivity, touch-screen information boards and visitor traffic monitors, Fudao has the potential to set a new national benchmark for eco-routes.
Comprising 8 basic deck components that can be stitched together in various permutations, the walkway network is an all-terrain modular system with the capability of negotiating undulating topography.
Efficient design allows for a long span of 14.4 meters between supporting columns, minimizing the construction footprint.
The use of steel grating for the walkway decks serves to bring natural light down to the ground plane, encouraging low-lying plants to thrive.
Fuzhou is a handsome provincial capital with charming old town lane-ways lined with lanterns and traditional architecture pressed up against the backs of shiny shopping plazas.
Fuzhou's tea culture is renowned, and you’ll find plenty of purveyors along the banks of the Minjiang River. A short trip to the west lies Gu Mountain and its delightful, accessible hiking paths.
A new metro makes the center easy to access, but most visitors pass through en route to other destinations in southern China, so the only tourists you're likely to see will be Chinese.

It is said that the tree was planted during Zhang Boyu's rule, hence it is about 900 years old.
The giant banyan tree has a height of 20 meters and the ground projection area of the canopy is more than 1,330 square meters. Called the "King of Banyan Trees" by locals, the tree, especially its spectacular canopy, is also a paradise for birds.
As a fig species, the banyan starts its life as an epiphyte, which means a plant that grows on another plant.
It will envelope the host tree, putting considerable pressure on the latter, before eventually killing it. According to experts, the Banyan King is likely to be two trees growing into one.
As a result, when spring comes, about half of its crown sprouts first, and when the old leaves gradually turn to yellowish and red, the other half of the crown begins to sprout.
Because the banyan tree has no cling roots that reach the ground, the forest park's craftsmen have built concrete columns to support its trunk.

Social media posts revealed that vehicles were washed away in the currents and that some cars stuck in wet areas were entirely buried. Likewise closed were schools in the cities of Xiamen, Quanzhou, and Putian, as well as Fuzhou.
State media stated that numerous flights were cancelled at two airports in Fuzhou and Quanzhou, as well as the closure of parks and tourist attractions as well as ports, coastline, and river transportation.
Around five in the morning, the typhoon made landfall, losing power and changing to a tropical storm. The national forecaster reported at 2100 GMT on Monday. Forecasters anticipate it to continue weakening when it moved through southern Guangdong province as of the last report.
During previous typhoons, such as Typhoon Talim and Typhoon Doksuri, the buoy also collected real-time data on the ocean's state.
Typhoon Saola made landfall in southern Guangdong province over the weekend, killing at least one person and leaving a path of destruction and flooding in several regions of adjacent Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau. Typhoon Haikui struck the region shortly after Saola.
Likewise, according to China's meteorological authorities, Typhoon Saola is the ninth typhoon of the year. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) reports that data on Typhoon Saola have been recorded by a wave-powered, floating observation buoy that is in the area.
The Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), which is a part of CAS, released the buoy at a marine ranch in Zhuhai, in the province of Guangdong in southern China.
When the super typhoon moved over the area, it recorded the formation, growth, and extinction of the storm and collected live video data.
10 kilowatts of wave energy are currently placed in it. From 12 volts to 380 volts in voltage, as well as other types of common electricity like alternating and direct currents, can be outputted steadily by the device.
Around 3:30 in the morning, Saola made landfall in Zhuhai. a near-eye wind gust of 42 to 46 meters per second was recorded on September 2 during this time.
A total of 780,000 people in Guangdong and 100,000 more in the adjoining province of Fujian were evacuated on Friday. Over 80,000 fishing vessels arrived back at the harbour.
The start of the school year was delayed until the following week in numerous places, while employees stayed at home. On Friday, 460 flights were cancelled, which resulted in a suspension of trading on the stock exchange in Hong Kong and hundreds of people being left stranded at the airport.
Between Friday night and Saturday night, all trains entering or departing Guangdong province were stopped by rail authorities, according to CCTV, the Chinese state media network.
Prior to the storm, the Hong Kong Observatory issued a No. 10 hurricane alert, the strongest signal under the city's weather system. Since Typhoon Mangkhut devastated Hong Kong in 2018, this warning was the first of its kind.
With maximum sustained winds of 121 mph, Saola, according to the observatory, swept the city's southernmost point at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, roughly 19 miles south of the Tsim Sha Tsui shopping centre. The eyewall of the storm, which encircles its eye, was sweeping across the city overnight and "posing a high threat" to the region, according to the agency. It stated that the highest sustained wind speeds had decreased to 90 mph by Saturday morning.

#Fujian
