In 1990, George Stranahan opened the Flying Dog Brewpub in Aspen, Colorado. Soon enough, along with long-time friend Richard McIntyre, Stranahan converted the brewpub into the first brewery to open in Aspen in over 100 years, and one of the first brewpubs in the Rocky Mountain region. As the reputation grew, the brewpub could no longer house the full operation so in 1994 Flying Dog opened a 50-barrel brewery in Denver, Colorado from which its ales were distributed to more than 31 states of the United States.
In May 2006, Flying Dog acquired the Wild Goose brand when they purchased the Frederick Brewing Company located in Frederick, Maryland, and in January 2008 all production was moved to the Maryland facility. While their headquarters remains in Denver, the Maryland location is where close to "70% of Flying Dog Beer is already being brewed." The Maryland brewery produces bottles twice as fast as the Denver plant and is also able to produce a wider variety of recipes.

Aloha BrewTube:
In this Episode of DJs BrewTube I going LOCAL yet again to review review Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch & Tropical Bitch Side-By-Side. These beers are essentially same with the exception of the addition of tropical fruits to the Tropical Bitch variant. Flying Dog Brewery describes their Raging Bitch (8.3% ABV) & Tropical Bitch (8.0% ABV) follows:
Raging Bitch:
"Two inflammatory words... one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it....stand back!! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled- and in heat- is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!"

"2016 marks the 25th anniversary of Flying Dog, and to celebrate, we are launching our newest addition to the family, Tropical Bitch. A spin on the Belgian-Style IPA you already know and love, Tropical Bitch was brewed with pineapple, mango and passionfruit. ."
These descriptions sound quite nice. Hope you enjoy this litmus test sort of review video, my written review and report card follows:
Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch & Tropical Bitch Side-By-Side WRITTEN REVIEW:
✪ Flying Dog Raging Bitch:
A - Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch pours a clear dark amber hue with a one finger head that leaves nice lacing and a thin ring of bubbles as the head recedes. Alcohol legs cling to the glass when the beer is swirled.
S - Juicy hops, citrus, tropical notes like pineapple and mango mix with a bit of pine to round out the nose. It is a mixture of sweet tropical fruits and citrus notes is paired very well with a mild dank undertone. These aroma notes take a backseat to strong spicy Belgian yeast notes as the beer opens. No alcohol is detectable in the aroma.
T - Taste follows the nose to a (T). After being greeted by a ton of hops, citrus, tropical notes like pineapple and mango mix with a bit of pine to round out the nose. It is a mixture of sweet tropical fruits and citrus notes is paired very well with a mild dank undertone. These flavor notes take a backseat to strong spicy Belgian yeast notes as the beer puts it mark on your palate. The alcohol is also totally hidden in this brew.
M - Mouthfeel is medium, crisp, refreshing with smooth carbonation. The beer goes down easy.
O - Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch is a quintessential example of an American take on a BPA.. Though I've drank it many times, in many formats I still really enjoy it. This cannot be said these days about many beers in the virtual ocean of hoppy brews on the craft beer landscape today. Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch is a beer that I will drink again and recommend.
