The Federation of the Greens (Italian:Federazione dei Verdi, or just Verdi) is a greenpolitical party in Italy, which includes also a large eco-socialist faction. The party's leader/s is/are variably known as "president/s" or "spokesperson/s". After being led by two co-spokespersons from 2013 to 2015, the Greens are currently led by a spokesperson, Giobbe Covatta.
History
Early years
The first official Italian Green symbol and political style was directly inspired by the Northern European environmentalist movements. The Green Lists, led by Gianni Mattioli and Alexander Langer, made their debut at the 1987 general election, when they gained 2.6% of the national vote.
The Greens (Polish:Partia Zieloni) is Poland's Green Party. It was founded in September 2003 under the name "Greens 2004" (Polish:Zieloni 2004) and formally registered in February 2004. The party was represented in the Sejm between 2014-2015 by Anna Grodzka, but had no Senators. As of 2010, it has three councillors and two members of regional parliaments.
The party was established in 2003 by activists of several social movements. Among its founding members there were environmentalists, feminists, LGBT and anti-war activists. The first political campaign of the emerging party concerned the Polish European Union membership referendum, the Greens campaigned for a "yes" vote. Greens 2004 took part in the movement against the Iraq War in 2003 and participated in Equality Parades and other social protests in the time of "Fourth Republic" (2005-2007). Since 3 March 2013 the official name of the party is Greens (Zieloni), Greens 2004 is a historical name and can still be used.
The Greens – The Green Alternative (German:Die Grünen – Die Grüne Alternative or Die Grünen, also called the Austrian Green Party) is a political party in the Austrian parliament.
The party was formed in 1986 with the name Grüne Alternative, following the merger of the more conservative Green party Vereinte Grüne Österreichs (United Greens of Austria VGÖ, founded 1982) and the more progressive party Alternative Liste Österreichs (Alternative List Austria, ALÖ, founded 1982). Since 1993, the party has carried the official name Die Grünen – Die Grüne Alternative (Grüne), but refers to itself in English as "Austrian Greens". There are still differences between the former members of the old Alternative and VGÖ factions within the party, which is reflected in the different opinions between the national party and the state parties.
The Greens (Verdi–Grüne–Vërc) are a green, regionalist and social-democraticpolitical party active in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Despite being formally the provincial section of the Federation of the Greens, the South Tyrolean Greens are practically an autonomous party and have recently formed different alliances at the country-level from the national party.
The Greens obtained 8.7% of the vote in the most recent provincial election in 2013. The Greens are ethnically mixed and strive to improve the relations between the three language groups of the Province: Italian-, German- and Ladin-speakers. Since 2014 the party has been led by Giorgio Zanvettor and Brigitte Foppa.
History
The Greens have their roots in the New Left and the environmental movements of the 1970s. They started to compete in elections in 1978, but were formally registered as a party only in 1996. From 1978 to 1996 they used different names: New Left (1978), Alternative List (1983), Green Alternative List (1988) and finally Greens (1993). One of the founders and most active members of the Greens was Alexander Langer, who committed suicide in 1995.
