Fearne Cotton

Fearne Wood (born 3 September 1981) known professionally by her maiden name Cotton, is an English television and radio presenter, best known for presenting a number of popular television programmes such as Top of the Pops and the Red Nose Day telethons.

In 2007, she became the first regular female presenter of the Radio 1 Chart Show, which she co-hosted with Reggie Yates for two years. She went on to present her own Radio 1 show, airing every weekday morning since 2009. She left Radio 1 in May 2015.

In 2007, Cotton presented the The Xtra Factor an ITV2 spin-off from the main show. She hosted the show for the one year before being replaced by Holly Willoughby the following series.

Cotton began her career with CITV in 1996, when she presented The Disney Club at 15 years of age, but is today best known for her role as a mainstream television and radio presenter and fashion designer.

Since 2008, Cotton has appeared as a team captain on the ITV2 comedy panel show Celebrity Juice alongside host Keith Lemon and fellow team captain Holly Willoughby. Cotton took a short break from the programme in 2013 whilst on maternity leave and so during the ninth series, Kelly Brook stood-in for her. She will also voice the Voice Trumpets in the 2015 revival series of Teletubbies.

Fearne Cotton (radio show)

Fearne Cotton was a British weekday radio show on BBC Radio 1. The programme was on air from September 2009 until 22 May 2015, when Fearne left the show. It was broadcast each morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and on bank holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The show focused on playing and interviewing new bands and styles of music.

History

On 21 September 2009, Fearne Cotton succeeded Jo Whiley for the 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. slot following a major re-shuffle of Radio 1's schedules. The re-shuffle also saw Edith Bowman replaced with Greg James in the 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. slot as well as similar changes to the weekend schedules.

On 12 August 2011 a special show show was broadcast from Boardmasters Festival in Newquay.

In May 2012 the show won the Gold Award for Best Music Programme at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in London.

In August 2012, following the news that Fearne Cotton was pregnant with her first child, it was reported that Sara Cox would cover hosting of the show throughout the duration of Cotton's maternity leave. Cotton commenced her leave on 24 December 2012.
