Falls Creek is a borough located in Jefferson and Clearfield counties in Pennsylvania in the United States. The population was 1,037 at the 2010 census. Of this, 989 were in Jefferson County, and only 48 were in Clearfield County.
History
Falls Creek was platted in 1891, and incorporated in 1900. The borough is named for the nearby waterway of the same name.
Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 219 intersect just northeast of the borough limits. I-80 leads east 24 miles (39km) to Clearfield and west 18 miles (29km) to Brookville, while US-219 leads southeast 3 miles (5km) into DuBois and north 9 miles (14km) to Brockway. Pennsylvania Route 830 passes through the center of Falls Creek as Main Street and Washington Avenue, while Pennsylvania Route 950 heads out of the center of town as 3rd Street, leading 7 miles (11km) southwest to Reynoldsville.
Falls Creek (also known as Falls Creek No. 2) is a tributary of Buttermilk Creek in Lackawanna County and Wyoming County, in Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 6.0 miles (9.7km) long and flows through Newton Township in Lackawanna County and Falls Township. The watershed of the creek has an area of 7.27 square miles (18.8km2). The creek is not designated as an impaired waterbody. The surficial geology in its vicinity consists mainly of alluvium, Wisconsinan Till, bedrock, Wisconsinan Ice-Contact Stratified Drift, Wisconsinan Outwash, and peat bogs. Several bridges have been constructed over the creek.
Course
Falls Creek begins in Newton Township, Lackawanna County, near the border of South Abington Township. It flows west for several tenths of a mile and receives a short unnamed tributary from the right before turning southwest for more than a mile. The creek then meanders west-southwest past Griffin Hill for more than a mile before turning south-southwest and receiving an unnamed tributary from the left. It then turns west and exits Newton Township and Lackawanna County.
Pennsylvania is Pere Ubu's eleventh studio album. The album marks Tom Herman's return to Pere Ubu's studio work after a twenty-year absence.
Director's Cut
In 2005, to celebrate Pere Ubu's 30th Anniversary, a "Director's Cut" was released which featured new mastering, alternate mixes, and two bonus tracks. David Thomas explains: "The point of doing a Director's Cut is to benefit from that older and wiser thing. I reviewed all alternate mixes from the session, sometimes discovering that an earlier mix turned out to be superior to the chosen mix. As well, 10 years later, we have access to improved mastering technology. Consequently, there is a greater clarity and cohesion to the Director's Cut. We are not going to make both versions available. The Director's Cut is the way it's supposed to be. Period."
Pennsylvania wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The climate in Pennsylvania is mild compared to surrounding states, with the moderating effects of Lake Erie to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. 119 wineries are located in all parts of the state, including five designated American Viticultural Areas. Pennsylvania is the eighth-largest wine producing state in the country.
