Eva and Franco Mattes
Eva and Franco Mattes (both born in Italy in 1976) are a duo of artists based in New York. Neither of them received an art education, and since meeting in Madrid in 1994, they have never separated. Operating under the pseudonym 0100101110101101.org, they are counted among the second wave of the Internet artists, after Net.art, and are renowned for their subversion of public media. They are based in Brooklyn, New York, but also travel frequently throughout Europe and the United States.
Activity
In 2012, they received a visit from Hans Bernhard of Ubermorgen. From 1995–97, the Mattes toured the world’s most important museums and stole dozens of fragments from well-known works by artists such as Duchamp, Kandinsky, Beuys, and Rauschenberg. This work, titled "Stolen Pieces," exhibited the stolen fragments in glass cabinets: a porcelain piece of Duchamp's urinal, skin from an Alberto Burri painting, etc. They have manipulated video games, internet technologies and street advertising to reveal truths concealed by contemporary society. Their media facades were believable enough to elicit embarrassing reactions from governments, the public, and the art world. In addition, they have orchestrated several unpredictable mass performances, staged outside art spaces, and involved unwitting audiences in scenarios that mingle truth and falsehood to the point of being indistinguishable. Their off-the-wall performances—for which they have been sued multiple times—include affixing fake architectural heritage plaques (An Ordinary Building, 2006), rolling out a media campaign for a non-existent action movie (United We Stand, 2005) and even convincing the people of Vienna that Nike had purchased the city’s historic Karlsplatz and was about to rename it “Nikeplatz” (Nike Ground, 2003).

Franco (band)
Franco is a rock band from the Philippines that was formed in 2008. The band started out as a supergroup with local rock icon members from different well-established Filipino bands. The original lineup, which consisted of Franco Reyes (InYo) on vocals, Gabby Alipe (Urbandub) on guitar, Paolo Toleran (Queso) on guitar, Buwi Meneses (Parokya ni Edgar) on bass guitar, and JanJan Mendoza (Urbandub) on drums, disbanded in mid-2012. The band now has a new lineup which is made up of front man Franco Reyes and session musicians Paul Cañada on guitars, Dave Delfin on bass and Victor Guison on drums.
History
Franco started as a collaboration project between Alipe, Toleran, Meneses and Mendoza, who are veterans of the Pinoy rock scene. Later on, they decided to look for a front man to help their project band take off. In late 2008, Alipe, Mendoza, Toleran and Meneses collaborated with Reyes, who returned to the Philippines, to form Franco. In 2009, they recorded songs that made up Franco's first album. After the release of their first album in 2010, their songs quickly became hits and topped the charts. The band dominated the 2010 NU Rock Awards with 4 awards and 9 nominations. They also won an award and were nominated during the 2010 Awit Awards. In 2012, Alipe, Meneses, Toleran and Mendoza left the band, but Franco Reyes continued his music, collaborating with his former band mates in Cebu and other touring members. In 2013, he released his sophomore studio album, entitled Soul Adventurer. He now has tours with the new members of Franco - Paul Cañada, Dave Delfin and Victor Guison.

Engineering notation
Engineering notation is a version of scientific notation in which the exponent of ten must be divisible by three (i.e., they are powers of a thousand, but written as, for example, 106 instead of 10002). As an alternative to writing powers of 10, SI prefixes can be used, which also usually provide steps of a factor of a thousand. On calculators, engineering notation is named "ENG".
Compared to normalized scientific notation, one disadvantage of using SI prefixes and engineering notation is that significant figures are not always readily apparent. In the previous example, 0.5 mm, 0.50 mm, or 0.500 mm would have been used to show uncertainty and significant figures. It is also common to state the precision explicitly, such as "47 kΩ ±5%"

Endoglin
Endoglin (ENG) is a type I membrane glycoprotein located on cell surfaces and is part of the TGF beta receptor complex. It is also commonly referred to as CD105, END, FLJ41744, HHT1, ORW and ORW1. It has a crucial role in angiogenesis, therefore, making it an important protein for tumor growth, survival and metastasis of cancer cells to other locations in the body.
Gene and expression
The human endoglin gene is located on human chromosome 9 with location of the cytogenic band at 9q34.11. Endoglin glycoprotein is encoded by 39,757 bp and translates into 658 amino acids.
The expression of the endoglin gene is usually low in resting endothelial cells. This, however, changes once neoangiogenesis begins and endothelial cells become active in places like tumor vessels, inflamed tissues, skin with psoriasis, vascular injury and during embryogenesis. The expression of the vascular system begins at about 4 weeks and continues after that. Other cells in which endoglin is expressed consist of monocytes, especially those transitioning into macrophages, low expression in normal smooth muscle cells, high expression vascular smooth muscle cells and in kidney and liver tissues undergoing fibrosis.

Paesaggio è una sezione del ciclo espositivo Quotidiana al Museo di Roma – Palazzo Braschi, ideato e prodotto dalla Quadriennale, in collaborazione con Roma Culture, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, per approfondire alcuni orientamenti significativi dell’arte italiana del XXI secolo.
La terza mostra di Paesaggio è dedicata al duo artistico Eva & Franco Mattes (Brescia, 1976) e trae origine da una riflessione di Nadim Samman, curatore al KW Institute for Contemporary Art di Berlino, che individua nella ricerca di Eva & Franco Mattes una delle linee più interessanti della scena artistica italiana del XXI secolo.
Il duo bresciano, infatti, è stato tra i primi a interrogarsi sulle implicazioni dell’iperconnessione e sulle tensioni generate dall’interferenza tra le dimensioni online e offline.
Le videoinstallazioni appartenenti alla serie The Bots (2020), sono realizzate a partire da un ciclo di interviste rivolte ai moderatori dei contenuti sul web di importanti social media: questo lavoro, infatti, non è stato completamente automatizzato, e tutt’oggi si affida alla mediazione dell’arbitrio umano. Un gruppo di attori è chiamato a leggere queste interviste mentre simula la registrazione di un make-up tutorial, espediente spesso utilizzato sul web per aggirare la censura di contenuti altrimenti non trasmissibili. Consigli random sul trucco ritmano e inframmezzano il flusso di un discorso che affronta i temi dell’abuso e della violenza online. I video sono proiettati sul retro delle stesse scrivanie utilizzate nell’ufficio dei moderatori di Facebook, a Berlino.

Artists explore themes surrounding ethical and moral issues around the web. Eva & Franco Matte’s have produced a series of videos about internet content moderators and an invisible army responsible for removing ‘offensive’ material from websites. Tor Jørgen van Eijk has created a series of videos where the camera records its own image, exploring how the apparatus of analogue video generates visual feedback.
Featuring artists Eva & Franco Mattes (selected by GAMeC in Bergamo, Italy) and Tor Jørgen van Eijk (selected by Tromsø Kunstforening in Tromsø, Norway).
Established by the Whitechapel Gallery in 2008, Artists’ Film International is a collaborative project featuring film, video and animation from around the world.

Penetrating into the music industry proves to be a challenging feat for new artists, but for the newest rock band FRANCO, the road to fame looks bright and promising, catapulting the landscape of alternative-rock off to a whole new level.
Not long after they broke into the music scene, the band has already managed to impress and capture the interest of various critics and audiences with their dynamic blend of smashing lines, throbbing beats and melodic sound. The undeniable musical talent radiating from each band member is insurmountable; hailing FRANCO as the Powerhouse band and the next big thing to watch out for in 2010!
Comprised of well-known figures in Philippine rock, members from the band FRANCO are no strangers to music lovers. Lead vocalist Franco Reyes is regarded as a musical genius, who, in spite of his enigmatic persona, speaks through the songs that he writes and performs. Other members include icons such as Gabby Alipe of Urbandub and Paolo "Ocho" Toleran of Queso on guitars, Buhawi "Buwi" Meneses of Parokya ni Edgar on bass, and JanJan Mendoza of Urbandub on drums.
The band is more than keyed-up as the year starts with a bang with the release of their latest self-titled album FRANCO under one of the major record labels - MCA Music. Featuring their single Castaway, their self-titled album under MCA Music has already been garnering raving reviews from various musical critics.

Comprised of well-known figures in Philippine rock, members from the band FRANCO are no strangers to music lovers. Eva & Franco Mattes (b. 1976, Italy) live and work in New York. Their work has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; the 20th Biennale of Sydney; the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels; Performa, New York; MoMA PS1, New York; the New Museum, New York; the NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], Tokyo; Manifesta 4, Frankfurt; and the Venice Biennale. Their work "Ceiling Cat" was recently included in the collection of SFMOMA, San Francisco.
Erandy Vergara curates, investigates, reads, and writes about contemporary and media art. Her main research interests include feminism, global art histories, curatorial studies, and postcolonialism, with a particular interest in remix cultures, the strengths and downfalls of science and technology, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, and the ethics and aesthetics of participation. She earned an MA at Concordia University and a PhD in art history at McGill University. Recent shows include: Speculative Cultures: A Virtual Reality Art Exhibition, curated with Tina Sauerländer (Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Gallery, Parsons School of Design, New York, 2019) and Art et intelligence artificielle: Explorations artistiques à Montréal (Printemps numérique, Montréal, 2019).

Paesaggio è una sezione del ciclo espositivo Quotidiana al Museo di Roma – Palazzo Braschi, ideato e prodotto dalla Quadriennale, in collaborazione con Roma Culture, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, per approfondire alcuni orientamenti significativi dell’arte italiana del XXI secolo.
La terza mostra di Paesaggio è dedicata al duo artistico Eva & Franco Mattes (Brescia, 1976) e trae origine da una riflessione di Nadim Samman, curatore al KW Institute for Contemporary Art di Berlino, che individua nella ricerca di Eva & Franco Mattes una delle linee più interessanti della scena artistica italiana del XXI secolo.
Il duo bresciano, infatti, è stato tra i primi a interrogarsi sulle implicazioni dell’iperconnessione e sulle tensioni generate dall’interferenza tra le dimensioni online e offline.
Le videoinstallazioni appartenenti alla serie The Bots (2020), sono realizzate a partire da un ciclo di interviste rivolte ai moderatori dei contenuti sul web di importanti social media: questo lavoro, infatti, non è stato completamente automatizzato, e tutt’oggi si affida alla mediazione dell’arbitrio umano. Un gruppo di attori è chiamato a leggere queste interviste mentre simula la registrazione di un make-up tutorial, espediente spesso utilizzato sul web per aggirare la censura di contenuti altrimenti non trasmissibili. Consigli random sul trucco ritmano e inframmezzano il flusso di un discorso che affronta i temi dell’abuso e della violenza online. I video sono proiettati sul retro delle stesse scrivanie utilizzate nell’ufficio dei moderatori di Facebook, a Berlino.

Artists explore themes surrounding ethical and moral issues around the web. Eva & Franco Matte’s have produced a series of videos about internet content moderators and an invisible army responsible for removing ‘offensive’ material from websites. Tor Jørgen van Eijk has created a series of videos where the camera records its own image, exploring how the apparatus of analogue video generates visual feedback.
Featuring artists Eva & Franco Mattes (selected by GAMeC in Bergamo, Italy) and Tor Jørgen van Eijk (selected by Tromsø Kunstforening in Tromsø, Norway).
Established by the Whitechapel Gallery in 2008, Artists’ Film International is a collaborative project featuring film, video and animation from around the world.

Eva and Franco Mattes
Eva and Franco Mattes (both born in Italy in 1976) are a duo of artists based in New York. Neither of them received an art education, and since meeting in Madrid in 1994, they have never separated. Operating under the pseudonym 0100101110101101.org, they are counted among the second wave of the Internet artists, after Net.art, and are renowned for their subversion of public media. They are based in Brooklyn, New York, but also travel frequently throughout Europe and the United States.
Activity
In 2012, they received a visit from Hans Bernhard of Ubermorgen. From 1995–97, the Mattes toured the world’s most important museums and stole dozens of fragments from well-known works by artists such as Duchamp, Kandinsky, Beuys, and Rauschenberg. This work, titled "Stolen Pieces," exhibited the stolen fragments in glass cabinets: a porcelain piece of Duchamp's urinal, skin from an Alberto Burri painting, etc. They have manipulated video games, internet technologies and street advertising to reveal truths concealed by contemporary society. Their media facades were believable enough to elicit embarrassing reactions from governments, the public, and the art world. In addition, they have orchestrated several unpredictable mass performances, staged outside art spaces, and involved unwitting audiences in scenarios that mingle truth and falsehood to the point of being indistinguishable. Their off-the-wall performances—for which they have been sued multiple times—include affixing fake architectural heritage plaques (An Ordinary Building, 2006), rolling out a media campaign for a non-existent action movie (United We Stand, 2005) and even convincing the people of Vienna that Nike had purchased the city’s historic Karlsplatz and was about to rename it “Nikeplatz” (Nike Ground, 2003).

Penetrating into the music industry proves to be a challenging feat for new artists, but for the newest rock band FRANCO, the road to fame looks bright and promising, catapulting the landscape of alternative-rock off to a whole new level.
Not long after they broke into the music scene, the band has already managed to impress and capture the interest of various critics and audiences with their dynamic blend of smashing lines, throbbing beats and melodic sound. Comprised of well-known figures in Philippine rock, members from the band FRANCO are no strangers to music lovers. Lead vocalist Franco Reyes is regarded as a musical genius, who, in spite of his enigmatic persona, speaks through the songs that he writes and performs. Other members include icons such as Gabby Alipe of Urbandub and Paolo "Ocho" Toleran of Queso on guitars, Buhawi "Buwi" Meneses of Parokya ni Edgar on bass, and JanJan Mendoza of Urbandub on drums.
The band is more than keyed-up as the year starts with a bang with the release of their latest self-titled album FRANCO under one of the major record labels - MCA Music. Featuring their single Castaway, their self-titled album under MCA Music has already been garnering raving reviews from various musical critics.
