Eric Pollard

Eric Charles Pollard is a fictional character from the British soap opera Emmerdale, played by Chris Chittell, who has appeared in the show since 1986. Eric became the programme's longest-running current character in 2013, following the death of Richard Thorp who played Alan Turner.

For many years, the character served as the show's villain, but this has been noticeably toned down in recent years, particularly since Eric's marriage to Val Lambert and the introduction of his long-lost illegitimate son, David Metcalfe, in 2006, and a foster daughter, Amy Wyatt.

Introduced originally for a 12 episode stint, Eric became a popular character amongst viewers for his villainous ways and mistreatment of others. Although the character would leave disappear and then reappear again for long periods of time during his early years on the programme, by the time that the soap had redeveloped itself following the infamous Emmerdale plane crash, Eric was a regular character. He has been married five times: to Eileen Pollard in 1964, Elizabeth Feldmann in 1992 (although the marriage was bigamous), Dee de la Cruz in 1997, Gloria Weaver in 2002 and Val in 2008. Out of those five marriages, he has been divorced three times and widowed twice by Elizabeth and Val respectively in 1993 and 2015. Eric is also known for his various feuds, which has resulted in him being punched by over 30 different characters in his 30-year stint on the programme, many of them members of the notorious Dingle family.

Eric Pollard (skier)

Eric Pollard is an American snow freeskier and film editor from Welches, Oregon and currently resides in the Hood River region of Oregon. He has been a professional skier for Line Skis for over 15 years and also designs skis for Line Skis. He has had his own line of clothing at Causwell and K2 which never reached the market due to failures by the brands attempting to manufacture the goods. He will be debuting a line of outerwear with Dakine in Fall 2015.

Skiing

Eric Pollard began skiing professionally at the age of fifteen. He learned on Mt. Hood, where snowboarders far outnumber skiers and as a result developed a unique style more closely resembling snowboarders. Because of this he developed the first fully symmetrical ski—equal height tip and tail, with a symmetrical flex. Pollard mostly works with filming and skiing backcountry rather than competitions.

Nimbus Independent Films

In 2007 Eric created Nimbus Independent with Pep Fujas, Andy Mahre and Chris Benchetler. Nimbus was an early producer of webisodes. Eric's goal in creating the company was to show skiing as it is, with all the ups and downs. The company produces short films several times a year showing highlights of its creators' seasons.
