In biology, energy homeostasis, or energy balance, is an aspect of bioenergetics concerning the energy flow through living systems, by the process of metabolism. Energy homeostasis involves the human body using chemical and neural signals to adjust the amount of energy flows; and to regulate caloric intake by signaling the brain to regulate the sensation of hunger. Fifty percent of the energy from glucose metabolism is immediately converted to heat.
Definition
In the US, biological energy is expressed using the energy unit Calorie with a capital C (i.e. kilocalorie), which equals the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1kilogram of water by 1°C (about 4.18kJ).
Energy balance, through biosynthetic reactions, can be measured with the following equation:
Energy intake (food) = Energy expended (heat + work) + Energy stored.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can be neither created nor destroyed. But energy can be converted from one form of energy to another. So when a calorie of food eaten enters a body, ultimately 100% of that calorie will be converted to heat, resulting in three particular short-term effects: a portion of that calorie is either stored as fat, transferred to the body's cells as chemical energy, by Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a coenzyme and used for mechanical work or chemical synthesis, or immediately dissipated through heat.
First law of thermodynamics, according to which energy cannot be created or destroyed, only modified in form
Earth's energy imbalance, the difference between incoming solar radiation and outgoing long wave radiation
Energy balance (biology), a measurement of the biological homeostasis of energy in living systems
Energy balance (energy economics), verification and analysis of emergence, transformation and use of energy sources within an economic zone
Energy economics, where the energy balance of a country is an aggregate presentation of all human activities related to energy, except for natural and biological processes
Groundwater energy balance, comparing a groundwater body in terms of incoming hydraulic energy associated with groundwater inflow and outflow
Energy returned on energy invested (EROEI), ratio of the amount of usable energy acquired from a particular energy resource to the amount of energy expended to obtain that energy resource
Energy accounting, a system used within industry, where measuring and analyzing the energy consumption of different activities is done to improve energy efficiency
Energy balance, in terms of energy economics, is concerned with all processes within an organization that have a reference to energy. It derives from the ecobalance and has the ambition to analyze and verify the emergence, transformation and use of energy resources in an organization in detail. Energy balances serve as a major statistical data base for energy policy and energy management decisions. They contain important information such as the amount and composition of energy consumption, its changes or the transformation of energy.
Approach
The basic idea of a balance is that nothing can get lost or annihilated - this fits to the first law of thermodynamics, which assigns energy this property. But energy splits up during usage and its output does not have the same potential for the physical performance as before.
For this reason it is important to distinguish between input and output of energy usage. The input side can easily be measured with the help of the meter readings. But on the output side there may be effects that are difficulty predictable, such as heat, dust or noise. In this context it is very interesting, how much of the energy used has actually reached the intended use. Based on this calculation, improvement measures can be derived. A separation in energy sources and places of consumption is necessary. An Outline based on the cost centre of the organization is also possible.

The human body develops energy based on the different activities that the humans undertake.
The factors determining energy requirements in humans, include,
*Age
*Gender
*Emotional Imbalance
*Occupation
*Health Status
*Condition of the mother i.e Pregnant
*Activity that one is undertaking
.
.
Balanced diet encompasses taking all the food groups in the correct proportions i.e Proteins, Vitamin, Carbohydrates and Fats.
An imbalance in this, would lead to different diseases like, Marasmus, Kwashiakor, Obesity and Constipation, whereby this is the difficulty in passing out stool

Metabolism is a complex process that has a lot more going on than personal trainers and commercials might have you believe. Today we are exploring some of its key parts, including vital nutrients -- such as water, vitamins, minerals, carbs, fats, and proteins -- as well as how anabolic reactions build structures and require energy, while catabolic reactions tear things apart and release energy.
