A company is an association or collection of individuals, whether natural persons, legal persons, or a mixture of both. Company members share a common purpose and unite in order to focus their various talents and organize their collectively available skills or resources to achieve specific, declared goals. Companies take various forms such as:
A company or association of persons can be created at law as legal person so that the company in itself can accept Limited liability for civil responsibility and taxation incurred as members perform (or fail) to discharge their duty within the publicly declared"birth certificate" or publishedpolicy.
Because companies are legal persons, they also may associate and register themselves as companies – often known as a corporate group. When the company closes it may need a "death certificate" to avoid further legal obligations.
The Company refers to a fictional covert international organization in the NBC drama Heroes. Its primary purpose is to identify, monitor and study those individuals with genetically-derived special abilities. The Company played a central role in the plot of Volume Two, during the second season of the series. It is a very notable organization in the series and is connected to several of the characters.
Founders
In season two, Kaito Nakamura revealed that there were twelve founders of the Company, and a photo of the twelve is later seen (listed below under "Group photo"); it did not include Adam Monroe, an immortal human with the ability of rapid cellular regeneration, who is described as the one who "brought them all together." The Company began sometime between January 1977 and February 14, 1977. Monroe was locked away for thirty years on November 2, 1977, concluding that he only spent about 10 to 11 months with the Company. In the first season of the show, Daniel Linderman heads the Company until his demise. He is substituted in the second season by Bob Bishop, who is implied to be the Company's financial source. However, when Sylar kills him in the beginning of Season 3, Angela Petrelli takes over. Several of the founders have children who are posthumans and who are main characters within the series.
Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineralberyl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) colored green by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Beryl has a hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale. Most emeralds are highly included, so their toughness (resistance to breakage) is classified as generally poor. It is a cyclosilicate.
Etymology
The word "Emerald" is derived (via Old French: Esmeraude and Middle English: Emeraude), from Vulgar Latin: Esmaralda/Esmaraldus, a variant of Latin Smaragdus, which originated in Greek: σμάραγδος (smaragdos; "green gem").
Properties determining value
Emeralds, like all colored gemstones, are graded using four basic parameters–the four Cs of Connoisseurship: Color, Cut, Clarity and Carat weight. Before the 20th century, jewelers used the term water, as in "a gem of the finest water", to express the combination of two qualities: color and clarity. Normally, in the grading of colored gemstones, color is by far the most important criterion. However, in the grading of emeralds, clarity is considered a close second. Both are necessary conditions. A fine emerald must possess not only a pure verdant green hue as described below, but also a high degree of transparency to be considered a top gem.
John Elliott, Steve Hauschildt and Mark McGuire began playing music together under the name Fancelions in 2005 in Cleveland's western suburbs of Bay Village and Westlake. Shortly thereafter, they re-formed as Emeralds, playing their first show under that name in June 2006. Since then the group has released over forty recordings on various independent labels. The album Does It Look Like I'm Here?, released on Editions Mego in 2010, is their most widely known release to date. It received the Best New Album designation from Pitchfork Media, the Album of the Year award from Drowned in Sound, and accolades from many other publications. Mark McGuire and Steve Hauschildt also perform and record under their own names, while John Elliott does so under a number of monikers including Outer Space and Imaginary Softwoods. The band also maintains multiple labels including McGuire & Elliott's Wagon, Hauschildt's Gneiss Things and Elliott's curated imprint Spectrum Spools.
KAGEM in ZAMBIA, The World's Largest Emerald Mine.
Dear all, I'm happy to invite you to discover a new field video on "Field Gemology by Vincent Pardieu". During a field expedition in June 2018 we visited the KAGEM emerald mine in the Kafubu area in Zambia in order to collect reference samples for the "Bahrain Institute for Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT)".
Emeralds mining started in the Kafubu area in Zambia during the 1960's but it is only after the 1980's that Zambia became a major producer of emeralds. In 2008 Gemfields took control of the KAGEM mine and turned it into a modern very sophisticated and efficient operation. They combined several small open pits into a huge one called the Chama pit. With more than 1km wide and long and over 120 meters deep, it is the World's largest emerald mining pit. In this pit we can witness a combinatio...

Treasure of Panjshir, the Afghan emeralds
Dear all,
I'm happy to invite you to discover a new field video on "Field Gemology by Vincent Pardieu". During a field expedition in September 2018 we visited the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan to collect samples for the "Bahrain Institute for Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT)".
Emeralds were discovered in Panjsher during the 20th century and became famous after 1979, during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan as its emeralds helped to finance Mujahideen under Massoud, " The Lion of Panjshir" in their fight against the Soviets and later against the Talibans. Since that period the deposit located at more than 3,000 meters altitude is worked all year long by the local people from either Khenj, Mukeni or Darch te Rivaat villages.

Dear all,
I'm happy to invite you to discover a new field video on "Field Gemology by Vincent Pardieu", in this short video you will discover the remote emerald deposit located near Mananjary on the Eastern coast of Madagascar. This deposit was discovered in the 1970's by Jeannot Andrianjafy from the "Quartz" company. Since that period it is worked by this family. During a field expedition in March 2018 to collect samples for the "Bahrain Institute for Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT)" we were lucky to visit the deposit and meet the Andrianjafy family who were nice to share with us the history of that deposit. I hope that you will enjoy this first video about Emeralds from Madagascar. Stay tuned as there will be more...

Ethiopia, Land of origins Part I: Emeralds from Southern Ethiopia
In December 2017, we had our first visit to Ethiopia and we explored the Rift Valley and the southern part of the country to visit an interesting new emerald mining project by Gemfields located near Web village close to the small town of Dubuluk. The main goal was to collect samples, on site at the mines, for the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT; http://www.danat.bh/ ) reference collection in Bahrain as Ethiopia is emerging as an interesting new source for gemstones.
The Web village area started to produce emeralds in the early 2000 and stones started to reach the markets in small quantities (Cevalos & al, G&G, Fall 2012, G&G, "an emerald from ethiopia", pp. 219-220) but the production remained irregular. "We have a lot of requests from Europe because the Emeralds from Afghanistan are the best in the world", Raphael says. He's a Frenchman who first came to Afghanistan to train Afghan security services before venturing into the emerald trade. He sees a huge chance here to exploit a market that could easily increase in value twenty or thirty-fold, but the obstacles are not inconsiderable. Just to get to the mines Raphael has to travel the 150 Kilometres from Kabul to Panjshir, right through Taliban kidnap country. When he gets there he finds an industry in the dark ages, where homemade pyrotechnics are exploded in poorly dug mineshafts, killing many miners and ruining the quality of up to 75% of the stones they dig.
"If you see the damage being done to these stones... so much is lost", Yama Torabi from Integrity Watch Afghanistan tells us. The government here remains hopelessly out of touch with the industry that "still (uses) a mining law adopted 100 years ago". But as the country prepares for elections and Europeans like Raphael open up the gem trade here, could this be a beacon of hope for the future?

In 2013 WGM (Web Gemstone Mining) company was created as a partnership between a local investor and the local Web village community. In 2015 that local investor invited Gemfields into the project in order to develop the mine (More at: https://gemfields.com/our-mines-assets/new-projects/#accordion-1 ). Gemfields became the majority shareholder with the Web village community and the investor as partners. At the time of our visit in Dec 2017, the project was at the exploration stage. We could witness bulk sampling at the Dogogo pit. The company was working a pegmatite area that was rich in promising green beryl crystals. We collected some of the for the DANAT reference collection. The goal for WGM was to reach an emerald rich reaction zone between the pegmatite (source of beryllium) and a high grade metamorphic rock called TMS belt (for talc magnetite shist) that is the source for chromium.
During our visit we could also witness the local market taking place each Wednesday at Web village that has turned, since the arrival of the mine, into one of the most important in the region due to the additional income generated by the local community since the opening of the mine.
The general feeling we had after that first visit was that Ethiopia has a great potential to become a significant gem producer in the years to come.

Many thanks to all the people we met in Afghanistan during that field expedition for DANAT and a very special thanks to the Ramin Habibi for his welcome and friendship.
Enjoy!
Dear all,
I'm happy to invite you to discover a new field video on "Field Gemology by Vincent Pardieu", in this short video you will discover the remote emerald deposit located near Mananjary on the Eastern coast of Madagascar.
Many thanks to all the people we met in Madagascar during that field expedition for DANAT and a very special thanks to the Andrianjafy Family and the Quartz company for their welcome and support.
Enjoy!
A company is an association or collection of individuals, whether natural persons, legal persons, or a mixture of both. Company members share a common purpose and unite in order to focus their various talents and organize their collectively available skills or resources to achieve specific, declared goals. Because companies are legal persons, they also may associate and register themselves as companies – often known as a corporate group. When the company closes it may need a "death certificate" to avoid further legal obligations.
