In September 1924, Quesada enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a flying cadet and was commissioned as a reserve officer a year later. He had a wide variety of assignments as aide to senior officers, military attaché and technical adviser to other air forces, and in intelligence. He was also part of the team (with Ira Eaker and Carl Spaatz) that developed and demonstrated air-to-air refueling in 1929 on the Question Mark. All five crew members were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their participation in the mission.

General Maurice Rose: The Jewish American General who played a major role in defeating Nazi Germany
Jewish American General Maurice Rose, who grew up in Colorado, was killed in action on March 30, 1945. He spent almost 3 years in continuous combat defeating Nazi Germany in Tunisia, Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Battle of Cologne with his 3rd Armored Division. Known as the front lines General, he was the highest ranking officer to be killed in combat in Europe. Because he didn't survive the war and have an opportunity to publish a memoir, his heroic story has been lost in the history of World War II.
