The Elk River begins at the confluence of Big Elk Creek and Little Elk Creek in Elkton, and ends at the Chesapeake Bay at a 1.4 miles (2.3km) wide mouth between Turkey Point on Elk Neck and West View Shores / Sunset Point. Little Elk Creek rises near Oxford, Pennsylvania, and the East Branch and West Branch of Big Elk Creek rise to the south of Cochranville, Pennsylvania. They descend through the Pennsylvania and Maryland Piedmont, before reaching sea level at Elkton, the head of navigation.
The Elk is formed in the Allegheny Mountains in Pocahontas County by the confluence of two short streams, the Big Spring Fork and the Old Field Fork, which join near the community of Slatyfork. It flows above ground for several miles before it sinks into a network of caverns and flows underground for more than five miles. The old riverbed of solid rock, however, remains above ground in this section known as "The Dries." It follows a generally westward course across the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau, through Randolph, Webster, Braxton, Clay, and Kanawha Counties, past the towns of Webster Springs, Sutton, Gassaway, Clay, Clendenin, and Elkview before joining the Kanawha River at Charleston.
Elk River Station is a commuter rail station in Elk River, Minnesota, located at 17200 Twin Lakes Road. It is served by the Northstar Commuter Rail line. The station features bicycle lockers and a park and ride lot with capacity for 754 vehicles. The commute time to downtown Minneapolis from this station is about 41 minutes. The normal fare to downtown Minneapolis from this station is $4.50 on weekdays and $4.00 on weekends and holidays; the fare to and from any other station is $3.00 on weekdays and $2.50 on weekends and holidays.
One of the original Thirteen Colonies, Maryland is considered to be the birthplace of religious freedom in America, when it was formed in the early 17th century as an intended refuge for persecuted Catholics from England by George Calvert. George Calvert was the first Lord Baltimore and the first English proprietor of the then-Maryland colonial grant. Maryland was the seventh state to ratify the United States Constitution.
Maryland is one of the smallest states in terms of area, as well as one of the most densely populated states with nearly 6 million residents. With its close proximity to Washington, D.C., and a highly diversified economy spanning manufacturing, services, and biotechnology, Maryland has the highest median household income of any state.
The Maryland automobile was built by the Sinclair-Scott Company of Baltimore, Maryland, between 1907 and 1910.
Sinclair-Scott was a maker of food canning machinery and in the early 1900s started to make car parts. One of their customers, Ariel, failed to pay and in recompense Sinclair-Scott took over production, moved the factory to Baltimore, and marketed the car as the Maryland.
The car was powered by a 30hp four-cylinder, overhead camshaft engine. The Ariel design was initially unchanged, and the Maryland was originally available as a four-seat roadster or a five-seat touring car. The wheelbase was later lengthened from the initial 100 inches (2,500mm) to 116 inches (2,900mm). Limousines became available in 1908 and town cars in 1909. Prices ranged from $2500 to $3200.
Production stopped in 1910 after 871 had been made as producing the cars was not profitable. The company returned to the manufacture of food-canning machinery.

Maryland Route 353 (MD 353) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Gumboro Road, the state highway runs 4.60 miles (7.40km) from MD 346 in Pittsville north to the Delaware state line, where the highway intersects Delaware Route 26 (DE 26) and DE-MD 54. MD 353 was constructed in the mid- to late 1920s.
Route description
MD 353 begins at an intersection with MD 346 (Old Ocean City Road) just south of Pittsville. Sixty Foot Road continues south as a county highway to an intersection with U.S. Route 50 (Ocean Gateway). MD 353 heads northeast as a two-lane road through Pittsville. After intersecting Main Street, the highway turns north past scattered residences. After crossing Aydelotte Branch, MD 353 leaves Pittsville, crossing Burnt Mill Branch and passing through farmland all the way to the highway's northern terminus at the Delaware state line. The roadway continues into Delaware as DE 26 and DE 54 (Millsboro Highway). Bethel Road heads east from the intersection at the state line, while DE-MD 54 (Line Road) follows the state line west to Delmar, Maryland, and Delmar, Delaware.

End of the World - Elk River, West Virginia
Have you heard of the End of the World on the Elk River? It's in Clay county near the border of Braxton County. It's also called the End of the World Rock or the End of the World Turn. This shear rock face rises from the river about 200 feet and the turn moves the direction of the river nearly 180 degrees in a gental one mile curve. Being so tight, getting good drone footage of it is difficult, but here it is, the End of the World...

Elk River Big Brown Trout - West Virginia |#westvirginia #fish #fishing
It was time to head into the Mountain State of West Virginia and wet me flies into the cold mountain waters of West Virginia. It was my first visit to the state to fish and I chose one of the best known trout waters - the Elk River. The Elk River is a tributary of the Kanawha River, 172 miles long, in central West Virginia in the United States. Via the Kanawha and Ohio rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River (wikipedia.org). There is over 172 miles to fish the Elk River but I was only able to cover about 2 of them using an old railroad trail that was heavily overgrown.
I found many rising fish, but the river's flow was slow, making the pools very difficult to trick a trout into surfacing for my artificial fly. I was able to land a solid Brown Trout using a Stimu...

It was a wonderful day of fishing, despite only catching one fish.
