Therese Elisabeth Alexandra Förster-Nietzsche (July 10, 1846 – November 8, 1935), who went by her second name, was the sister of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and the creator of the Nietzsche Archive in 1894.
Förster-Nietzsche was two years younger than her brother. Their father was a Lutheran pastor in the German village of Röcken bei Lützen. The two children were close during their childhood and early adult years. However, they grew apart in 1885 when Elisabeth married Bernhard Förster, a former high school teacher who had become a prominent German nationalist and antisemite—Friedrich Nietzsche despised antisemitism.
As his caretaker, Förster-Nietzsche assumed the roles of curator and editor of Nietzsche's manuscripts. She reworked his unpublished writings to fit her own ideology, often in ways contrary to her brother's stated opinions, which were strongly and explicitly opposed to antisemitism and nationalism. Through Förster-Nietzsche's editions, Nietzsche's name became associated with German militarism and Nazism, although later 20th-century scholars have counteracted this conception of his ideas.
A surname or family name is a name added to a given name. In many cases, a surname is a family name and many dictionaries define "surname" as a synonym of "family name". In the western hemisphere, it is commonly synonymous with last name because it is usually placed at the end of a person's given name.
In most Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries, two or more last names (or surnames) may be used. In China, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Madagascar, Taiwan, Vietnam, and parts of India, the family name is placed before a person's given name.
The style of having both a family name (surname) and a given name (forename) is far from universal. In many countries, it is common for ordinary people to have only one name or mononym.
The concept of a "surname" is a relatively recent historical development, evolving from a medieval naming practice called a "byname". Based on an individual's occupation or area of residence, a byname would be used in situations where more than one person had the same name.
Nietzsche may refer to:
Nietzsche is a 2003 American short film directed by Bryan Harley. The movie is about two coworkers have a conversation about the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Starring Andrew Isaac as Ezekiel and Jared Marshall as Samuel, it was filmed in Fresno, California.
It was one of the only films to screen at Fresno Reel Pride Gay and Lesbian Film Festival that did not deal with gay issues and was made by a straight filmmaker.
The film opens with one character saying "God is dead", a famous sentence of Nietzsche. From there, the two coworkers sit alone at a table debate existentialism from Nietzsche, to Sartre and Kierkegaard.
Elizabeth is a common female given name. For more information, including people with that name, see Elizabeth (given name).
Elizabeth may also refer to:
Elisabeth is a Viennese, German-language musical commissioned by the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW), with book/lyrics by Michael Kunze and music by Sylvester Levay. It portrays the life and death of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I. It has been translated into seven languages and seen by over ten million spectators worldwide, making it the most successful German-language musical of all time.
The musical tells the story of Elisabeth ("Sisi"), the Empress of Austria, from her engagement and marriage in 1854 to her murder in 1898 at the hands of the Italian anarchist Luigi Lucheni, through the lens of her growing obsession with Death as her marriage and her empire crumble around her at the turn of the century.
The show opens in the "nightly world of the dead and the dreamers", where Luigi Lucheni is being interrogated by a Judge as to why he has murdered the Empress Elisabeth. Lucheni claims that he did no more than what Elisabeth herself wanted, since all her life Elisabeth has been in love with Death himself - and vice versa. As his witnesses, Lucheni brings back the dead aristocracy of the bygone era and takes us to the past, where he serves as a sarcastic narrator of the events that lead to the transformation of the sweet and innocent Sisi to the revered and infamous Elisabeth, Empress of Austria and Hungary, and her decline through later years until her assassination.
Elisabeth is a 1990 album by Norwegian singer Elisabeth Andreassen. The song "Jag ser en stjärna falla" earned her a seventh-place finish in Melodifestivalen 1990, the Swedish qualifier for the Eurovision Song Contest 1990.

This video explores the proper definition of atheism by surveying the catalog of definitions found in general and technical dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other resources. Popular atheist YouTubers such as Dave Rubin, Penn Jillette, CosmicSkeptic, Rationality Rules, That Atheist Guy, and others are all (unintentionally) spreading misinformation regarding what the word 'atheism' actually means. Hopefully, this video will serve to correct some of our false semantic beliefs by not just presenting hearsay and personal opinion, but by presenting a wide variety of authoritative sources to YouTube. 📺 Subscribe ▹ BitChute: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/cm_bradley #Atheism #Philosophy #NewAtheism
Moral nihilism is the reason I identify as: atheist, feminist, a civil & QUILTBAG rights advocate. I question everything, especially what motivates my decisions. Moral nihilism is NOT moral relativism, nor is it sociopathy. Stop believing everything you've been told; the person telling you just might have a hidden agenda, you know! This is a video response to "Nihilism." Therese Elisabeth Alexandra Förster-Nietzsche (July 10, 1846 – November 8, 1935), who went by her second name, was the sister of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and the creator of the Nietzsche Archive in 1894.
