The film is broken into three chapters centred around three men (all played by Ryan Reynolds) who try to uncover the secret about strange happenings in their, at times overlapping, lives.
"Chapt9r On9: The Prison9r"
Gary is a troubled actor who is wearing a green bracelet on his wrist, under house arrest living in another person's house because he burned down his own. The owner of the house is described as a TV writer away on work. While living in the house he is befriended by both a P.R. 'handler', Margaret, and the single mom next door, Sarah, who may or may not be interested in him romantically. Over the course of his house arrest, Gary becomes convinced that he is being haunted by the number nine, including finding a note saying "Look for the nines" in his handwriting. He encounters many occurrences of the number nine, while playing backgammon he rolls nines, while reading newspaper advertisements he becomes obsessed with finding nines. Asking Sarah about the number 9 worries her and she cryptically tells him "I can get you out of here". He also sees different versions of himself around the house, which unsettles him, causing him to break out of his house arrest barrier, which in turn causes a blip in reality.
The Nines is a luxury hotel in Portland, Oregon, United States, owned by the Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. Opened in 2008, the hotel occupies the top nine floors of the Meier & Frank Building, giving the hotel its name. The 331-room hotel includes 13 suites, making it the fifth largest hotel in Portland based on the number of rooms. The 12th floor, or "Club Floor", can only be accessed via specially programed room key. The hotel has two restaurants. One is Urban Farmer, a gourmet restaurant that relies on local farmers' produce. This restaurant is located on the 8th floor, which is the lobby. Departure, the other restaurant, serves Asian food and is located on the top floor, including some of the roof. The hotel was designed by Forrest Perkins and Courtney Gallant, who describe their design as "Nostalgic Modern".
The Nines is a Canadianpower pop band formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1991. The core of the band is multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and primary songwriter Steve Eggers. A series of other band members have rotated in and out through the years, including Aaron Nielsen, Andrew Webb and Sam Tallo.
The Nines have been described in reviews as a band that has picked up where The Beatles left off.
History
The first Nines album, Wonderworld of Colourful, was released in Canada in 1996 on the Page Music label and was distributed through EMI. Later that year, Universal Music Canada released a piano-based four-song EP. Eggers admits that the band was still a "work in progress" at this time.
Properties of Sound was released in North America in 2001. Airmail Recordings picked up the album in Japan a year later and released it there with bonus tracks.

Eileen
Don’t you worry things will look better
In the morning dark clouds wont’t follow
But the storm remains
Won’t it go away
I could tell you how much I love you
How I built my whole world around you
What you hear instead
Are voices in your head
(Chorus)
Eileen this won’t last forever
I will always be here so don’t worry
Just so you’re reassured you’re not alone
Things are going to turn around believe me
Eileen there’s no need to hide love
I will always be there to protect you
Even when you feel that all is lost...

Jordaan Amsterdam
Jordaan is a neighbourhood in the heart of Amsterdam’s famous Canal Ring. It used to be a working class neighbourhood and has since become one of the most upscale locations in The Netherlands. The name ‘Jordaan’ comes either from the French word for garden (jardin) or the Dutch word for the river Jordan. Rembrandt lived in the Jordaan for the last part of his life and he’s buried in the Westerkerk just beyond the neighbourhood’s official borders.
The most widely-known place in the Jordaan is the Anne Frank House where Anne Frank and her family lived in hiding for more than two years during the Nazi occupation of Holland. This building, where Anne wrote her famous diary, became a national monument in 1957. I read The Diary of a Young Girl at about the same age Anne was when she wrote it a...

This building, where Anne wrote her famous diary, became a national monument in 1957. I read The Diary of a Young Girl at about the same age Anne was when she wrote it and it has stayed with them, as it has with many people. The House is very busy so make sure to buy tickets online in advance, up to two months ahead, to be sure you get inside.
Across from the Anne Frank House is a micro-neighbourhood within the Jordaan called the Little 9 Streets. It’s actually three streets that cross two canals which splits them into nine little streets. There are lots of adorable shops and restaurants. One unique shop is called No Boys Allowed. It’s a sneaker store which sells women’s sneakers in women’s sizes only. They also get exclusive releases from brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma.
One of my favourite places I stumbled across in the Jordaan is a place called The Mouse Mansion Shop and Studio. The window displays are ridiculously charming! It’s a family business run by a mother and her four adult children. They write stories about a world of mouse characters they’ve created, build sets for the stories, and photograph them for books and videos. They sell the books, along with merchandise and toys, around the world. The sets are like dollhouses and extremely detailed - they can take years to build! The mice and their world is incredibly sweet and it’s a place I was glad to come across so randomly.
My other favourite memory from the Jordaan was getting a coffee and sitting on the terrace of a cafe called De Vergulde Gaper. It’s located across from the canal in an old drug store. It’s an ideal spot to sit and soak in the bicycles, the bridges, and all the sights that make Amsterdam so unique.
This neighbourhood was a true highlight from my trip to Amsterdam and I loved spending time there. Does it look like a place you’d like to visit? If you’ve already been, what were your highlights? I’d love to hear so please leave a comment down below and tell me!
