The Simpsons includes a large array of supporting characters: co-workers, teachers, family friends, extended relatives, townspeople, local celebrities, fictional characters within the show, and even animals. The writers originally intended many of these characters as one-time jokes or for fulfilling needed functions in the town. A number of them have gained expanded roles and have subsequently starred in their own episodes. According to the creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening, the show adopted the concept of a large supporting cast from the Canadian sketch comedy show Second City Television.
Agnes Skinner
Agnes Skinner (voiced by Tress MacNeille) is the mother of Principal Skinner and first appeared in the first season episode "The Crepes of Wrath" as an old woman who embarrassingly calls her son "Spanky". However, as episodes progressed, the character turned bitter. She is very controlling of her son and often treats him as if he is a child. She hates Edna Krabappel due to her son's feelings for the other woman. Agnes has married four times. Several Springfield residents (including the Simpsons) are afraid of her. When "the real Seymour Skinner" arrives in Springfield, Agnes ends up rejecting him in part because he stands up to her, but also because unlike Skinner/Tamzarian, her biological son is independent and doesn't need her anymore, while Skinner immediately reverts to a good-for-nothing without her.
Eddie is a text editor which was first released in 1997 for BeOS, and later ported to Linux and Mac OS X. It was written by Pavel Císler, formerly a senior developer at Be, who later worked for Eazel and currently works for Apple and continues to develop Eddie as his pet project, now on Mac OS X. Inspired by the classicMacintosh' Macintosh Programmer's Workshop editor, it is primarily intended for working with C and C++ development. However, Eddie supports syntax colouring for HTML, JavaScript, .kon/.widget, Perl, and many other formats. Eddie supports a Worksheet – provides a well-appointed shell that enables the power of bash and the convenience of editing in a normal text window mode.

"Eddie" is the ninth episode of the second season of Louie. It first aired on the FX channel in the United States on August11,2011.
Plot
After finishing a stand-up set, Louie runs into his old friend and colleague Eddie Mack (Doug Stanhope), whom he has not seen for years. Louie is happy to see his friend, but when Eddie becomes unnecessarily aggressive towards a fellow comedian, it becomes clear that something is wrong. It turns out Eddie is struggling with his career, lives in his car and drinks heavily. The two go out together, get drunk, and Eddie does an impromptu set at an open mic event. As the evening comes to an end, Eddie tells Louie that he's planning to end it. Louie thinks he is talking about his stand-up career, but Eddie is actually planning to commit suicide, and sought out Louie because he wanted someone to say goodbye to. Louie initially states that he has struggled with determining his purpose in life and had to discover it for himself and everyone must discover their own purpose. Louie at first attempts to dissuade him stating for instance," You know what, it's not your life. It's life. Life is bigger than you. If you can imagine that. Life isn't something that you possess; it's something that you take part in, and you witness." While Louie is expressing his concerns, they are both promptly interrupted by a random couple arguing within earshot and thus distracting them in the process. The moment ends in an awkward silence. It then becomes clear to Eddie that he is going to have to figure out for himself if he has a significant reason to live. The two part ways with the issue unresolved, and it is not revealed what eventually happens to Eddie.
The River Dee (Scottish Gaelic:Dè / Uisge Dhè), in south-west Scotland, flows from its source in Loch Dee amongst the Galloway Hills, firstly to Clatteringshaws Loch, then into Loch Ken, where it joins the Water of Ken. From there, the Dee flows 15 miles (24km) southwards to Kirkcudbright, and into Kirkcudbright Bay to reach the Solway. The distance is just over 38 miles (61km) in total. Together with its tributaries, the Dee's total catchment area is over 400 square miles (1,000km2).
The river is dammed at Tongland, two miles (3km) upriver from Kirkcudbright. This was constructed as part of the Galloway hydro-electric power scheme in the 1930s. Also at this site is Tongland Bridge, built in 1806 by Thomas Telford.
The ruins of Threave Castle stand on an island on the lower part of the Dee.
In Ptolemy's 2nd century work Geography it is recorded as Dēoúa. This form represents a development of Proto-Indo-European *deiueh2- 'a goddess', which occurs in many Celtic river-names.
For the mini-series, first season, and up until the last episode of the second season, Petty Officer Crew Specialist 2nd Class Dualla, was a communications NCO working in the CIC on board the Battlestar Galactica. One of her prime functions in this role is to act as a "bridge" between the Galactica's command staff and other spacecraft, including the fleet's combat air patrol.
Dualla expresses a romantic interest in President Laura Roslin's aide Billy Keikeya shortly after their first encounter aboard Galactica. This interest blossoms into a relationship between the two, but is brought to an end when Billy proposes marriage and Dualla realizes she is not really in love with him, due in part to her attraction to Galactica CAG, then-Captain Lee Adama. Billy is killed shortly thereafter in a terrorist attack aboard Cloud Nine, saving her life from a terrorist that was about to kill her. In the year between the discovery of New Caprica and the Cylon invasion of the colony, Dualla's position in the fleet changes considerably. She is involved in the failed conspiracy with Tory Foster and Saul Tigh to fraudulently ensure Laura Roslin's presidential election victory over Gaius Baltar. Despite this, within four months, Dualla is commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. On the day after the colony's ground-breaking ceremony, Rear Admiral William Adama approves her transfer to the Battlestar Pegasus, and Dualla accepts the marriage proposal from her new commanding officer, then-Commander Lee Adama. By the time of the Cylon invasion, she serves as executive officer of Pegasus.
The Semitic letter Dāleth may have developed from the logogram for a fish or a door. There are various Egyptian hieroglyphs that might have inspired this. In Semitic, Ancient Greek and Latin, the letter represented /d/; in the Etruscan alphabet the letter was superfluous but still retained (see letter B). The equivalent Greek letter is Delta, Δ.
The minuscule (lower-case) form of 'd' consists of a loop and a tall vertical stroke. It developed by gradual variations on the majuscule (capital) form. In handwriting, it was common to start the arc to the left of the vertical stroke, resulting in a serif at the top of the arc. This serif was extended while the rest of the letter was reduced, resulting in an angled stroke and loop. The angled stroke slowly developed into a vertical stroke.
