The Life And Death Of Dwight Frye
Dwight Frye was an extremely versatile actor in the 1930s and 40s. Frye found success early in his Hollywood career but after playing iconic roles such as the hunchbacked villain Fritz from Frankenstein and the crazy inmate Renfield from Dracula, Frye found himself typecast as similar types of characters. He wanted to break away from this typecast to get a variety of different roles but his career was cut short when Frye unexpectedly died of a heart attack at 44yrs old. Frye's career was short but his performances are immortalized and will live on forever.

Dwight Frye: Bad Romance.
A tribute to Dwight Frye and the various characters which he portrayed with so much passion, many of whom were not so lucky in love. Truly they understood what it meant to experience a "bad romance".
I hope that this video will be enjoyed, I am not the world's biggest Lady Gaga fan, but I do like this song and thought that it would be a perfect fit for Dwight Frye's love-lorn characters.

Dwight Frye's 5 Most Unhinged Horror Movie Creeps
Dwight Frye dreamt of someday returning to musical comedy, which he'd performed for years on the Broadway stage.
But this was not to be once he became typecast as one of the screen's leading loons.
Here's are five examples of this...
Dracula (1931)
Frankenstein (1931)
Vampire Bat (1933)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Dead Men Walk (1943)
Dwight Frye died shortly after being cast in a screen biography of Woodrow Wilson.
At the time, he was working as a draftsman for the Lockheed Aircraft Company.
On the death certificate, his profession was listed as "tool designer."
But it is in the horror film where he is truly immortalized.
I neither own nor claim any rights to this material. Just having some fun with it. Thanks for watching!

Fritz (Dwight Frye) breaks into Dr. Waldman's (Edward Van Sloan) classroom and steals the brain of a criminal after dropping the pristine brain.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Still regarded as the definitive film version of Mary Shelley's classic tale of tragedy and horror, Frankenstein made unknown character actor Boris Karloff a star and created a new icon of terror. Along with the highly successful Dracula, released earlier the same year, it launched Universal Studio's golden age of 1930s horror movies. The film's greatness stems less from its script than from the stark but moody atmosphere created by director James Whale; Herman Rosse's memorable set designs, particularly the fantastic watchtower laboratory, featuring electrical equipment designed by Kenneth Strickfaden; the creature's trademark look from makeup artist Jack Pierce, who required Karloff to don pounds of makeup and heavy asphalt shoes to create the monster's unique lurching gait; and Karloff's nuanced performance as the tormented and bewildered creature. Frankenstein was greeted with screams, moans, and fainting spells upon its initial release, obliging Universal to add a disclaimer in which Edward Van Sloan advises the faint of heart to leave the theater immediately. If they don't: "Well...we've warned you." Director James Whale was memorably embodied by Ian McKellen in the Oscar-winning 1998 biopic Gods and Monsters.
