Welcome to our channel!
If you liked the channel, of course do not forget to like and follow :)
We will talk about unimportant facts that will help you develop topics of conversation during the day, with people you know, or not.
The disaster of the toilet of Der Erfurter Latrinensturtz was an event that took place in 1184 in the town of Erfurt in the Duchy of Thuringia in Germany.
Nobles from the Holy Roman Empire were invited by Henry VI of Germany (the same one who imprisoned Richard the Lionheart on his way from the Crusades) to discuss a political conflict between some of the rulers of German states.
The meeting was held in a room in the Church of St. Peter, which is located just but right above a house to be used by the clergy.
The great gathering of over a hundred men and their serv...

Erfurt Latrine Disaster
The Erfurt latrine disaster was an event that occurred in Erfurt, Duchy of Thuringia in 1184 where a number of nobles from across the Holy Roman Empire were meeting in a room at the Church of St. Peter only for their combined weight to cause the floor to collapse into the latrine beneath the cellar and led to dozens of nobles drowning in liquid excrement. At least 60 people died in the accident.

The Erfurt Latrine Disaster (Encore)
In the year 1184 in the Dutchy of Thuringia, in what is today the country of Germany, a conflict raged between the Count of Thuringia and the Archbishop of Mainz.
To resolve this dispute, the German King Henrich VI called the parties to the city of Erfurt to settle their outstanding issues.
Things did not go as anyone planned.

Giants of Literature and a Nazi Concentration Camp: In Weimar, Good and Evil Sit Side by Side
Weimar is world-famous. A number of important philosophers, musicians, and literary figures used to live here – including renowned poets Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller. Weimar Classicism attracts tourists even today.
But the city of Thuringia is also home to a dark chapter of German history. There, the Nazis built one of their largest concentration camps, Buchenwald, where a total of around 266,000 people were imprisoned.
How does Weimar cope with this paradox today? DW reporter Hannah Hummel searches for answers.

More information about the video content bellow:
1. Thuringia, officially the Free State of Thuringia, is a federal state of Germany. Most of Thuringia is within the watershed of the Saale, a left tributary of the Elbe, and has been known as "the green heart of Germany" from the late 19th century due to the dense forest covering the land.
2. Thuringia was established in 1920 as a state of the Weimar Republic from a merger of the Ernestine duchies, except for Saxe-Coburg, but can trace its origins to the Frankish Duchy of Thuringia established around 631 AD by King Dagobert I.
3. Erfurt is the capital and largest city in the state of Thuringia. Erfurt's old town is one of the best preserved medieval city centres in Germany. The University of Erfurt was founded in 1379, making it the first university to be established within the geographic area which constitutes modern-day Germany. It closed in 1816 and was re-established in 1994, with the main modern campus on what was a teachers' training college. Martin Luther (1483-1546) was its most famous student, studying there from 1501.
4. The Krämerbrücke (Merchants' bridge) in the state capital Erfurt dates back to 1325 and has been continuously inhabited for over 500 years. At 125 metres long from end to end and home to around 80 residents, the bridge is still an important thoroughfare for locals today wanting to cross this section of the Gera River. Nowadays it boasts popular cafes, wine merchants, a bakery and a chocolate shop.
5. Despite the fact that composer and musician Johann Sebastian Bach is so often associated with Leipzig, the city in Saxony where he spent a large part of his career, he was actually born in a Thuringian town called Eisenach.
6. In 1919 an academy for applied arts, design and architecture opened in Weimar, a city known for its cultural heritage and importance in the history of Germany. Founded by an architect named Walter Gropius, the school was known as Bauhaus (literally ‘construction house’) and initiated the foundations of a movement of the same name.
7. In the late 18th and early 19th century, ducal patronage attracted many of the leading German poets and philosophers such as Goethe, Schiller and Nietzsche to Weimar, turning it into a European center of culture. Public and private buildings, castles and parks in and around the city bear witness to the outstanding cultural history of the Weimar Classical Period, sixteen of which are recognized as Unesco World Heritage sites.

The great gathering of over a hundred men and their servants caused the wooden floor of the room to collapse into the stool pool beneath them and thus the fragrant death of about sixty nobles.
Henry VI himself was rescued while standing on a stone niche in the corner of the room while the disaster occurred.....
