Donald Eric Partridge (27 October 1941 – 21 September 2010) was an English singer and songwriter, known as the "king of the buskers". He performed from the early 1960s as a busker and one-man band, and achieved unexpected commercial success in the UK in the late 1960s with the songs "Rosie" and "Blue Eyes".
Life and musical career
Don Partridge was born in Bournemouth, England. By his own account, he left home at age 15 and became a burglar, before working at some 45 different jobs. By the early 1960s, inspired by American singer Jesse Fuller, he travelled around Europe as a solo entertainer on street corners, initially simply singing songs with a guitar. However, he found that he gained more attention by performing as a one-man band, playing guitar, kazoo or harmonica (both held on a harness), bass drum (on his back) and cymbal at the same time.
Playing by that time mainly in London, Partridge performed traditional English and American folk songs as well as his own compositions. In 1964 he and his friend, guitarist Alan Young, were described in the Evening Standard as the first young street musicians to be seen in London since the second world war. He was frequently arrested and fined, but gained a local following and made a TV appearance on the Eamonn Andrews Show.
John Abell is a General Staff officer. He served on the U.S. Army General Staff from the Great War, when he was a major, to the Second Great War, which he began as a colonel. Abell disliked many of the tactics and operations proposed by Irving Morrell, but the two men shared a hatred of the Confederacy and a wary respect for each other's abilities. Abell is typically portrayed as an excellent soldier in his role as a General Staff officer, but is an occasional antagonist to Irving Morrell and Abner Dowling, both field officers, as their approaches to war differ radically. However, Abell and Dowling make common cause with regard to Daniel MacArthur's debacle in northern Virginia. Dowling and Abell even appear to become friends (to the extent that either man has friends), both men sharing an ironic sense of humor and low regard for MacArthur.
The 'King of the Buskers' performs his hit single 'Blue Eyes' on Top of the Pops (6th June 1968). The record reached No.3 and was his second and biggest release.
Don Partridge was born on October 27th, 1941 in Bournemouth. He made his chart debut in March 1968 with 'Rosie'. He saw brief continued success with all Acoustic band 'Accolade', forming in 1969. After splitting in 1971, Partridge returned to busking.
Don Partridge died of a heart attack in Peacehaven on 21 September 2010. He was just over a month shy of his birthday, passing away at the age of 68.

It happens every spring
I hear this bluebird sing
Love is here again to stay
But now that I've found you
I know this time it's true
Love is really here to stay
Blue eyes look my way
Make today my lucky day
Blue eyes looking at me
Hope you're liking what you see
Hope you're liking what you see
Nobody ever saw
This deep deep blue before
Bluebells look up in surprise
The sky admits defeat
The sea will kiss your feet
I could drown in those blue eyes
Blue eyes shining down
Everything is right somehow
Blue eyes stay here with me
Find my world in those blue eyes
Find my world in those blue eyes
It happens every spring
