Paul Revere (song)
"Paul Revere" is a song by American hip hop group Beastie Boys, released as the third single from their debut album Licensed to Ill (1986). It was written by Adam Horovitz, Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Rick Rubin. It was produced by Rick Rubin and the Beastie Boys. The song tells a fictional story of how the Beastie Boys met.
Adam Horovitz told how the song evolved from an incident when the Beastie Boys were waiting outside a recording studio for Run-D.M.C., when Joseph Simmons ("Run") suddenly came running down the street screaming incoherently. When he reached the Beastie Boys, he said "Here's a little story I got to tell...". After much confusion, Simmons stated "THAT's the song". The band worked on it from there.
In 2007, an artist called Kia Shine released a single called "Krispy" with a similar beat, raising questions about copyright infringement.

The song tells a fictional story of how Adrock, Mike D, and MCA first met. Adrock describes riding through the desert on a horse named Paul Revere (hence, the title of the song) with a quart of beer, on the run from the police. He runs into MCA, who asks him for a drink. When Adrock refuses, MCA pulls a gun on him and says, "You got two choices of what you can do...I can blow you away or you can ride with me." Adrock agrees, saying that he'll go if they can get to the border because "The sheriff's after me for what I did to his daughter".

Brumos Porsche 250
The Brumos Porsche 250, also known as the Paul Revere 250, was a 250-mile sports car support race held on the road course at Daytona International Speedway on or around Independence Day, the same weekend of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' Coke Zero 400. It has been held off-and-on over the history of that event, either the same night, or a couple days before. The traditional date meant the race was usually held late at night, and finishes in the early morning hours of the next day. The theme of the race is based on the famous "Midnight Ride" of Revolutionary War patriot Paul Revere.
From 1967-1968, the race was sanctioned by the SCCA. From 1969-1972, it was held as part of the NASCAR Grand American tour. Starting in 1973, it became part of the IMSA circuit, and continued through 1983. In 1984, it switched to an SCCA Trans-Am event for one season. For 1985-1986, it was a motorcycle race, then it was discontinued.
In 2000, the event was revived by the Grand Am series. The tradition of starting late at night, however, was muted somewhat. The event was scheduled as a Thursday or Friday night event, held immediately following NASCAR pole qualifying and/or final practice. The start time would be roughly 10 p.m. eastern. Attendance for the weeknight races was very sparse. NASCAR's typical weeknight qualifying crowd is normally small, and most of those that were in attendance left as soon as qualifying was over. In 2009, the race was moved to Saturday afternoon as part of a Grand Am/Sprint Cup day-night doubleheader.

Paul Revere
Paul Revere (/rɪˈvɪər/; December 21, 1734 O.S. – May 10, 1818) was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, and a Patriot in the American Revolution. He is best known for alerting the Colonial militia to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride".
Revere was a prosperous and prominent Boston silversmith, who helped organize an intelligence and alarm system to keep watch on the British military. Revere later served as a Massachusetts militia officer, though his service culminated after the Penobscot Expedition, one of the most disastrous campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, for which he was absolved of blame. Following the war, Revere returned to his silversmith trade and used the profits from his expanding business to finance his work in iron casting, bronze bell and cannon casting, and the forging of copper bolts and spikes. Finally in 1800 he became the first American to successfully roll copper into sheets for use as sheathing on naval vessels.

"Don't Pull Your Love" is a classic song written by Brian Potter and Dennis Lambert. The song was originally released in 1971 by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds.
The song was an international hit, hitting number one on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100 and reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as Billboard's Country and Easy Listening charts. In Canada, the song spent one week at number one.
"Don't Pull Your Love" became a gold record. Session musicians later referred to as the Wrecking Crew were hired to record the instruments instead of Hamilton, Frank and Reynolds.

In early 1976 Glen Campbell, recorded the song as a medley with "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye". This version went to number 1 on the easy listening chart, number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 4 on the country chart.

Paul Revere & the Raiders
Paul Revere & the Raiders was an American rock band that saw considerable U.S. mainstream success in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s. Among their hits were the songs "Kicks" (1966; ranked No. 400 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time), "Hungry" (1966), "Him Or Me – What's It Gonna Be?" (1967) and the Platinum-certified classic No. 1 single "Indian Reservation" (1971).
History
Early years
Initially based in Boise, Idaho, the Raiders began as an instrumental rock band led by organist and founder Paul Revere Dick (January 7, 1938 – October 4, 2014).
In his early 20s, Revere owned several restaurants in Caldwell, Idaho, and first met singer Mark Lindsay (born March 9, 1942, Eugene, Oregon) while picking up hamburger buns from the bakery where Lindsay worked. The circumstance of their meeting was later referred to in the tongue-in-cheek song "Legend of Paul Revere", recorded by the group. Lindsay joined Revere's band in 1958. Originally called the Downbeats, they changed their name to Paul Revere & the Raiders in 1960 on the eve of their first record release for Gardena Records. The band garnered their first hit in the Pacific Northwest in 1961, with the instrumental "Like, Long Hair". The record had enough national appeal that it peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard chart on April 17, 1961. When Revere was drafted for military service, he became a conscientious objector and worked as a cook at a mental institution for a year and a half of deferred service. During the same time period, Lindsay pumped gas in Wilsonville, Oregon. On the strength of their Top 40 single, Lindsay toured the U.S. in the summer of 1961 with a band that featured Leon Russell taking Revere's place on piano.

Don Wilson cut several solo vocal 45's for Liberty while a member of the Ventures, through his friendship with producer Joe Saraceno. I'm not sure who wrote the lyrics to this song as Granville "Sascha" Burland is the sole songwriter credited on both the T-Bones hit and this Don Lee Wilson 45.
Don Lee Wilson was born February 10, 1933 in Tacoma, Washington and is the only member of the Ventures to be in the group since it's inception (Bob Bogle had been with the group from the beginning up until his health declined in 2005. Bob Bogle passed away June 14, 2009, after a long battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma).
The T-Bones started out as a studio group (with Hal Blaine on drums and Carol Kaye on lead guitar) that scored a #3 hit called "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)", based around an Alka-Seltzer commercial. When the record took off, a live act was needed to promote the record. The record's producer Joe Sareceno asked Judd Hamilton to form a group, and he did so with his brother Dan Hamilton, George Dee (Arnold Rosenthal), Richard Torres, and Gene Pello. George Dee and Richard Torres got tired of the road quickly and were replaced by Joe Frank Carollo and Tommy Reynolds. This group continued to record and tour through late 1967. Tommy Reynolds became the lead singer of the group Shango, who had a hit with the song "Day After Day (It's Slipping Away)" in 1969. By 1970, Dan Hamilton, Joe Frank Carollo and Tommy Reynolds were back together and signed to ABC Dunhill records where they would score a massive hit with "Don't Pull Your Love" under the group name of Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds. Dan Hamilton passed away in December of 1994 as a result of Cushing's syndrome.
So, the 45 you are listening to here doesn't actually feature Hamilton, Joe Frank or Reynolds, but it does feature the original music track for the T-Bones hit of No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In, with vocals from Don Lee Wilson of the Ventures. I personally love this record, but most people tend to be annoyed that this song was "ruined" by putting these novelty lyrics to the tune (without regard to the fact that the song DID start out as an Alka-Seltzer commercial!). Paul Revere and the Raiders is an American rock band that saw enormous mainstream success in the second half of the 1960s and earlier 1970s, best-known for hits like "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)" (1971), "Steppin' Out" & "Just Like Me" (1965), "Kicks" (1966) (ranked #400 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time) , "Let Me" (1969), and "Hungry" (1966).
Initially located in Boise, Idaho, the Raiders started as an instrumental rock outfit led by organist Paul Revere (born Paul Revere Dick on January 7, 1938). In his early twenties, Revere already owned several restaurants in Caldwell, Idaho and first met singer Mark Lindsay (born March 9, 1942, Eugene, Oregon) while picking up hamburger buns from the bakery where Lindsay worked (this circumstance was later referred to in the tongue-in-cheek song "Legend of Paul Revere"). Lindsay joined Revere's band in 1958. Originally called The Downbeats, they changed their name to Paul Revere & The Raiders in 1960 on the eve of their first record release for Gardena Records. The band scored their first Pacific Northwest hit in 1961, with "Like, Long Hair." The song had enough national appeal that it peaked at #38 in the Billboard charts on April 17, 1961. When Revere was drafted for military service, he became a conscientious objector and worked at a mental institution for a year-and-a-half of deferred service as a cook, while Mark Lindsay pumped gas in Wilsonville, Oregon. Lindsay, on the strength of their Top 40 hit, toured the U.S. in the Summer of 1961 with a band that featured Leon Russell filling in for Revere on piano.
By the summer of 1962, Revere and Lindsay were working together again in Oregon with a version of the Raiders that featured drummer Mike "Smitty" Smith, who would spend two long periods with the band. Around this time, KISN DJ, Roger Hart, who was producing teen dances, was looking for a band to hire. Hart had a casual conversation with a bank teller who told him about a band called "Paul Revere-something." Hart obtained Revere's phone number and they met for lunch. Hart hired the band for one of his teen dances. Soon afterwards, Hart became the group's personal manager. It was Hart who suggested they record "Louie Louie", for which Hart paid them about $50, producing it and placing it on his SANDE label. This attracted the attention of Columbia Records. According to Mark Lindsay, the Northwest Raiders were a "bunch of white-bread kids doing their best to sound black. We got signed to Columbia (Records) on the strength of sounding like this." Whether the Raiders or The Kingsmen recorded "Louie Louie" first is a matter of some controversy; however, both groups recorded it in the same studio in Portland, Oregon. Although beaten in the charts by The Kingsmen's version, Paul Revere & The Raiders enjoyed a longer career. By then, Paul Revere and the Raiders included Revere, Lindsay, Smith, guitarist Drake Levin and bassist Mike "Doc" Holliday, who was replaced in early 1965 by Phil Volk.
1965 marked the beginning of a string of garage rock classics. The Raiders, under the guidance of producer Terry Melcher, increasingly emulated the sounds of British Invasion bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark Five, and The Animals, albeit with an American, R&B feel. Their second major national hit, "Just Like Me" (1965 - #11) was one of the first rock records to feature a distinctive, double-tracked guitar solo (by guitarist Drake Levin).

You know the song heard here. It's The T-Bones hit, No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In), but with an added vocal by Don Lee Wilson of the Ventures. Don Wilson cut several solo vocal 45's for Liberty while a member of the Ventures, through his friendship with producer Joe Saraceno. I'm not sure who wrote the lyrics to this song as Granville "Sascha" Burland is the sole songwriter credited on both the T-Bones hit and this Don Lee Wilson 45.
Don Lee Wilson was born February 10, 1933 in Tacoma, Washington and is the only member of the Ventures to be in the group since it's inception (Bob Bogle had been with the group from the beginning up until his health declined in 2005. Bob Bogle passed away June 14, 2009, after a long battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma).
The T-Bones started out as a studio group (with Hal Blaine on drums and Carol Kaye on lead guitar) that scored a #3 hit called "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)", based around an Alka-Seltzer commercial. When the record took off, a live act was needed to promote the record. The record's producer Joe Sareceno asked Judd Hamilton to form a group, and he did so with his brother Dan Hamilton, George Dee (Arnold Rosenthal), Richard Torres, and Gene Pello. George Dee and Richard Torres got tired of the road quickly and were replaced by Joe Frank Carollo and Tommy Reynolds. This group continued to record and tour through late 1967. Tommy Reynolds became the lead singer of the group Shango, who had a hit with the song "Day After Day (It's Slipping Away)" in 1969. By 1970, Dan Hamilton, Joe Frank Carollo and Tommy Reynolds were back together and signed to ABC Dunhill records where they would score a massive hit with "Don't Pull Your Love" under the group name of Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds. Dan Hamilton passed away in December of 1994 as a result of Cushing's syndrome.
So, the 45 you are listening to here doesn't actually feature Hamilton, Joe Frank or Reynolds, but it does feature the original music track for the T-Bones hit of No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In, with vocals from Don Lee Wilson of the Ventures. I personally love this record, but most people tend to be annoyed that this song was "ruined" by putting these novelty lyrics to the tune (without regard to the fact that the song DID start out as an Alka-Seltzer commercial!). Paul Revere and the Raiders is an American rock band that saw enormous mainstream success in the second half of the 1960s and earlier 1970s, best-known for hits like "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)" (1971), "Steppin' Out" & "Just Like Me" (1965), "Kicks" (1966) (ranked #400 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time) , "Let Me" (1969), and "Hungry" (1966).
Initially located in Boise, Idaho, the Raiders started as an instrumental rock outfit led by organist Paul Revere (born Paul Revere Dick on January 7, 1938). In his early twenties, Revere already owned several restaurants in Caldwell, Idaho and first met singer Mark Lindsay (born March 9, 1942, Eugene, Oregon) while picking up hamburger buns from the bakery where Lindsay worked (this circumstance was later referred to in the tongue-in-cheek song "Legend of Paul Revere"). Lindsay joined Revere's band in 1958. Originally called The Downbeats, they changed their name to Paul Revere & The Raiders in 1960 on the eve of their first record release for Gardena Records. The band scored their first Pacific Northwest hit in 1961, with "Like, Long Hair." The song had enough national appeal that it peaked at #38 in the Billboard charts on April 17, 1961. When Revere was drafted for military service, he became a conscientious objector and worked at a mental institution for a year-and-a-half of deferred service as a cook, while Mark Lindsay pumped gas in Wilsonville, Oregon. Lindsay, on the strength of their Top 40 hit, toured the U.S. in the Summer of 1961 with a band that featured Leon Russell filling in for Revere on piano.
By the summer of 1962, Revere and Lindsay were working together again in Oregon with a version of the Raiders that featured drummer Mike "Smitty" Smith, who would spend two long periods with the band. Around this time, KISN DJ, Roger Hart, who was producing teen dances, was looking for a band to hire. Hart had a casual conversation with a bank teller who told him about a band called "Paul Revere-something." Hart obtained Revere's phone number and they met for lunch. Hart hired the band for one of his teen dances. Soon afterwards, Hart became the group's personal manager. It was Hart who suggested they record "Louie Louie", for which Hart paid them about $50, producing it and placing it on his SANDE label. This attracted the attention of Columbia Records. According to Mark Lindsay, the Northwest Raiders were a "bunch of white-bread kids doing their best to sound black. We got signed to Columbia (Records) on the strength of sounding like this." Whether the Raiders or The Kingsmen recorded "Louie Louie" first is a matter of some controversy; however, both groups recorded it in the same studio in Portland, Oregon. Although beaten in the charts by The Kingsmen's version, Paul Revere & The Raiders enjoyed a longer career. By then, Paul Revere and the Raiders included Revere, Lindsay, Smith, guitarist Drake Levin and bassist Mike "Doc" Holliday, who was replaced in early 1965 by Phil Volk.
1965 marked the beginning of a string of garage rock classics. The Raiders, under the guidance of producer Terry Melcher, increasingly emulated the sounds of British Invasion bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark Five, and The Animals, albeit with an American, R&B feel. Their second major national hit, "Just Like Me" (1965 - #11) was one of the first rock records to feature a distinctive, double-tracked guitar solo (by guitarist Drake Levin).
The band appeared regularly on national television, most notably on Dick Clark's Where the Action Is, Happening '68, and It's Happening, the latter two of which were co-hosted by Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay. There is a lot more at Wikipedia.com

Paul Revere (song)
"Paul Revere" is a song by American hip hop group Beastie Boys, released as the third single from their debut album Licensed to Ill (1986). It was written by Adam Horovitz, Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Rick Rubin. It was produced by Rick Rubin and the Beastie Boys. The song tells a fictional story of how the Beastie Boys met.
Adam Horovitz told how the song evolved from an incident when the Beastie Boys were waiting outside a recording studio for Run-D.M.C., when Joseph Simmons ("Run") suddenly came running down the street screaming incoherently. When he reached the Beastie Boys, he said "Here's a little story I got to tell...". After much confusion, Simmons stated "THAT's the song". The band worked on it from there.
In 2007, an artist called Kia Shine released a single called "Krispy" with a similar beat, raising questions about copyright infringement.

The song tells a fictional story of how Adrock, Mike D, and MCA first met. Adrock describes riding through the desert on a horse named Paul Revere (hence, the title of the song) with a quart of beer, on the run from the police. He runs into MCA, who asks him for a drink. When Adrock refuses, MCA pulls a gun on him and says, "You got two choices of what you can do...I can blow you away or you can ride with me." Adrock agrees, saying that he'll go if they can get to the border because "The sheriff's after me for what I did to his daughter".
